I was expecting a woman electrician but instead got two rather scruffy men. One stayed in truck the entire time. The other changed out a switch in my bathroom, which I thought was going to require rewiring, but it did not. Literally,10 minutes; $400. Not such a great experience. read more

I called Carol this morning in a panic. I had my house power washed and all of a sudden I had no hot water and my circuit breaker kept tripping and shorting out different parts of my house. I didn't know what to do! She had me FaceTime her and walked me through exactly what the problem was. Within 10 minutes we had my hot water back on and the problem solved! She charged me nothing! Now I will use her for any and all electrical needs moving forward. Highly highly recommend! -Rachel read more

Be AWARE I am writing this post so others are not caught by surprise like I was. Based on reviews I have read, this did not seem to surprise any other customers, yet I want anyone reading to be aware. I wanted to share a review regarding Carol's Electric and a disputed charge. The charge was for 30 additional minutes the workers were driving to my home for $82.50. The owner categorized it as 'driving time', 'trip charge', 'It can be called travel time, a diagnostic fee or anything under the sun'. The background I had scheduled minor work to be done in my home. Since the work was going to be done by a professional electrician I knew it would not be inexpensive The two gentlemen that showed up were very nice and got the work done. They were in my home for less than ONE hour. When it came time to pay I wrote out a check for the full amount even though one of the projects was not able to be completed (this was due to the type of fan not to the workers) I received an invoice showing what I had paid for in my email and I was very concerned to see I was charged for 1.5 hours I reached out via email to ask why and was told that the .5 hours was for DRIVING TIME Needless to say, I was shocked because in the 10 years I've been in my home and the multiple service providers I have come out here I have never been charged drive/travel time. I responded to the owner that I was very disappointed and found the amount of $82.50 exorbitant for 'drive time'. I also explained that I felt that a charge like this is the exception to the norm. Especially since it was not laid out on the website nor was it told to me in any form (phone text or email) I did request a refund because I didn't expect to have to pay for drive/travel time. I was refused and advised that it is not reasonable to expect two workers, a fully equipped truck, insurance, etc. to not be included in the charge. Just making everyone aware read more

Came quickly, took care of problem expeditiously & economically. Recommend without reservation. read more

Called Carol's Electric to change kitchen cams and fluorescent lights and outside lights. This company is a 4-star company. Carol listened carefully to wanted we would like in the kitchen, especially getting rid of the 2 fluorescent fixtures. Very helpful in suggesting cam placement and updating the outside lights which were also on our list. The crew showed up on time, friendly, professional and made a good suggestion about a cam that may need to be lined up. They cleaned up afterward and came out the next day to reset the outside flood light. We will be calling Carol's Electric for other electrical needs, read more

Called Carol to help out with an issue found by a home inspector days before we were due to close. When I called, an appointment was made and she explained her rates and that 2 people are included in the rate. Carol turned up on time and with John. she then got straight to work and honestly, I thought they'd have to spend hours and hours hunting down the source of the problem. After 30 minutes of pulling out furniture to get to a dozen or so receptacles and testing each one out and scratching their heads, they found the problem and fixed it. I got charged a very reasonable rate for an hour's work. Highly recommended. read more

Called Carol after reading so many positive reviews. Came today to do one thing for us and give an estimate for the rest. Stayed for several hours and completed about 75% of the work we need. We have been burning out bulbs at a record rate and new cannisters we replaced with were very reasonable in cost and should not have to worry for years. We strongly recommend Carol and any of her workers. Thorough, capable, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Carol goes the extra mile to satisfy her clients. Strongly recommend Carol's electric for any of your electrical needs read more

Usually when a business has this many good reviews I immediately scroll to the bottom of the page and look for the reviews that are "not recommended". You'd be amazed at the skeletons that fall out of that closet... Unless of course you're Carol and you run a seriously tight ship! How do you know your electrician is good? When they're booked solid for the next month. Fortunately, Carol was in my neighborhood and she was actually able to make a same day call to repair a ceiling fan light fixture that was killing all my bulbs. After taking down the fan it turned out I had stripped wires and even a cut wire patched together with electrical tape hiding in my walls! She repaired it quickly and professionally (helloooooo 30 years of experience!) and offered to come back when I have a new fixture to install (the old one had a bad motor from poor manufacturing plus the stress of bad wiring). All in all she was quick, friendly, professional. Oh, and ninja bonus, the business is veteran friendly! I'm not going anywhere else for my electrical needs - highly highly recommend! read more

I've been looking for a high-quality, reliable electrician in the Chapel Hill area and was delighted with the service Carol's Electric provided a few weeks back. I consulted with Carol over the phone and she came by to assess the scope of the project (installing a recessed outlet box over the fireplace for a TV installation). A couple weeks later (due to the holidays), her team members came by and completed the installation in under 2 hours. They were professional, courteous, and very clean. I highly recommend them! read more

Carol was very easy to work with and accommodating even though we didn't wind up using her services. She gave us the best quote for the work and was willing to work with us as best she could. She was always easy to reach by phone. She was booked solid for several weeks when we contacted her (a sign of a great electrician) and while we were waiting for our appointment we figured out a simple solution, negating the need for an electrician. In the future if we need an electrician, Carol will be my first call. read more

We've had some electrical issues for the past 8 years that no one could fix or diagnose. Carol was able to figure out exactly what needed to be done! Her rates are great! Her service is EXCELLENT! I agree with all of the previous positive reviews! I will definitely use her for any of our future needs and highly recommend her for any electrical work!!!! read more

Carol and John were awesome! Fast, efficient, methodical and friendly.

I really appreciate that Cliff and Greg with Carol's electric showed up on time. Both men wore masks which I was really happy with. Both men were knowledgeable and professional, fixed the issue quickly and effectively. I would definitely hire them again with upcoming electric issues/projects. They earned Carol a five star rating and customer for life! read more

All good. Great work, polite, efficient. also gave some helpful advice on the phone.

Carol Dixon has many, many years of experience. As a woman, I felt safer having a female electrician in my home and doing the work for us. She was very pleasant to deal with and gave us quality work at an affordable rate. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a residential electrician in Chapel Hill or surrounding areas. read more

Carol just finished installing a new light fixture in our kitchen and a new ceiling fan and light fixture in our bedroom. (On a sloped cathedral ceiling) I would highly recommend her services to anyone. She was on time, came in and got the work done. Both were completed right at about an hour. They cleaned up everything as they went along. Both Carol and her helper were very professional and super friendly. Will definitely call her again if we need anymore electric work done. read more

Carol did our kitchen remodel a few years ago and she was great! Easy to work with and the suggestions she made of what to do (or not to do) were spot on. We've hired her to do lighting in the back yard and she 'heard' what I wanted by not making the lighting too harsh. We hired her to rewire the garage and she gave me my own circuit for my radial arm saw as a bonus so it stops blowing the breaker - life changing 8-) If you're looking for knowledgeable, experienced, skilled professional your search is over. read more

Carol and her assistant came to our home today to determine a) why our dryer was not getting enough "juice" to heat; b) why an outdoor socket had stopped working; and c) to install an additional outdoor socket. Carol was friendly and efficient, made quick friends with our pups, and quickly determined what the issues were and set about correcting them. At the same time, our air conditioning installer came by to replace the breaker that was needed for our new AC unit. He had been unable to find the 25amp GE breaker and was going to be forced to do a "work-around" but Carol had the correct breaker on her truck. She installed the fix, taught the AC man a bit about installing breakers in a GE panel, and told him where to find the needed breaker in the future. We all learned a good bit, and Carol and her assistant were done in an hour, with all systems in good order and a copy of the paid invoice in my email inbox. I was definitely impressed and will use her again in the future! read more

I found her rude, unprofessional, unhelpful, inefficient. Definite "no way." Update: the service request was for Chapel Hill, not Raleigh. I stick to my review - you were horrific in your entire attitude towards my inquiry. read more

I am a repeat customer of Carol's Electric and I HIGHLY recommend her services. Prior to finding Carol's electric, I had years of trying to find someone to investigate some electrical issues we were experiencing. However, Carol was able to resolve the issues that multiple other electrical companies were never able to properly address. Since then I have used Carrol for all other projects which required an electrician. She is prompt, professional, courteous and the services are competitively priced!!! Her years of expertise are demonstrated in the quality work that she performs! I have never had any issues with anything that she has done for me. Again, I would highly recommend her services. read more

Carol was great! She actually helped me solve my problem over the phone, and didn't have to make a house call. I was in the midst of a move and trying to take care of a small child, so I was pretty frazzeled. The fact that she could help me out, without charge, over the phone was such a relief. I will definiely be calling her again when I have more electrical needs. read more
