I'd absolutely make this a regular stop anytime I'm in Kingston.

Layered strawberries, center with a little cream and that cream topped off with some lemony drizzle. Oh just pure goodness. Prices VERY reasonable. Coffee is outstanding. Desserts are dangerous. You will want to say "One of each please" and you won't regret a thing.

But sadly, their matcha is genuinely terrible. I'd get it if it was cheap matcha, but it was $7.25 just for very poor quality matcha. They don't have bagels. It also wasn't much sandwich for the price I paid, and I had to put the ketchup on myself bc they wouldn't do it... the sandwich itself was good though, and I really liked the texture and taste of the bread they used. I won't be coming back but I can't say this place is *bad*.

We were about an hour away where this is typically around 5 hours away so knew we needed to check it out being so close. Snagged street parking easily and even just the vibes of the outside started off our experience so nicely. Located at what is dubbed Four Corners that is I believe the only remaining intersection in the US that has pre-revolutionary stone houses on all 4 corners. Such an amazing sight to see the old architecture. Rough Draft has utilized the space so perfectly. Worth visiting even if you are looking to just browse. I highly recommend trying a coffee or tea drink to start your day though and a baked good. If those aren't your cup of tea grab a beer or wine then. My wife got an Iced Mocha and loved it. I went with one of their current specials, "I Know What You Did Last S'more". It was so good but was unique compared to a typical s'more coffee drink since it had espresso and smoked black tea. I also had a chocolate croissant while my wife had a maple palmier and we enjoyed both. We snagged some window seats and it was the perfect way to enjoy the drinks and baked goods. My wife loved browsing the books and thought it had so many unique books she hadn't seen at other bookstores. Which it really is more than just a bookstore with the cafe and bar vibes! Highly recommend everyone check it out, if you can. We look forward to coming back!

It's located on such a charming street, and stepping inside felt like walking into an elevated Barnes & Noble straight out of a Harry Potter movie. There are endless shelves of books across every genre, cozy seating throughout, and the perfect atmosphere to spend hours browsing or reading. The coffee was just as wonderful as the space. I wasn't sure what to order, so the barista recommended a drink and was incredibly accommodating with my many requests. I can't have too much milk or syrup, so I basically gave them a complicated custom order, and they made it exactly to my liking without hesitation. I also ended up buying one of the chocolate bars they had at the counter and turns out it was $20!!!! As a tourist, I had no idea it was a well known local chocolate brand with a factory nearby, so that was a fun surprise. This is the kind of place that makes you want to slow down. I'd love to come back, grab a coffee, spend the entire afternoon reading, and just soak in the comforting smell of books and fresh coffee. Such a cozy, magical spot that's well worth visiting!

There was NOTHING welcoming about the experience. If I wasn't so darn hungry, I would have said "forget it." The sandwhich itself was really good, and a great price (compared to the rest of uptown Kingston), which I appreciated. She thanked me for coming back for the sandwhich and that was that. Kingston B. is like a little neighborhood-market-meets-bread-bar energy. I came in for a bite and somehow left with more than I could chew. I went with the grilled cheese with white cheddar and ricotta pressed between their sourdough bread. Simple on paper, but the flavor was definitely on point. It's creamy, super cheesy, had a freaking terrific melt pull and the bread is crispy where it needed to be. I mean- that bread really brought the whole thing together. Or was it the combo of the cheeses? Definitely not your basic grilled cheese.

I'm not sure if this was just an off-day or if people are just accustomed to this style of…read morefood/service. I went there for a midday meal on a windy, slightly rainy Sunday. Usually the gentrification restaurants in uptown Kingston have decent food, I was looking forward to my meal and a coffee. I ordered the Country Wrap and a coffee, very straightforward. I took my seat, and assumed that the coffee would be ready when they called my name for the food. Once my name was called and I retrieved my food from the counter, I hesitantly, but politely asked where the coffee is (I am a non-confrontational guy). I was informed that the coffee was self serve and saw behind me the coffee machines. This is my fault, I should have noticed the coffee pots when I walked in, but alas, I didn't notice until after I paid and left a tip, the percentage one would leave at a restaurant with full service. Once I got to my seat with my food and what I thought was a hot drink, I took a bite into my wrap. To my surprise it was mostly bulked up with sweet potatoes and eggs, two cheap staple foods, the bacon was noticeably sparse, and the kind that comes in industrial cardboard box that one might find in the chest freezer of a doomsday prepper, and the cheese was unnoticeable. I should have known something was wrong when I looked at the menu, again my fault, but I don't typically associate sweet potatoes with a "country breakfast", as those usually use a regular potato like a Yukon or Russet. I took my first sip of coffee approximately 5 minutes after I had dispensed it from the machine, it was slightly below room temperature. Now someone might ask "How could unrefrigerated coffee be BELOW room temperature?!?" Well the answer is that if you pour cold half and half into room temperature coffee, it will drop a few degrees. As I finished my meal and room temperature drink, and left the establishment, I noticed an "Equal Exchange" coffee sticker in the window, I did not feel like I had gotten an equal exchange for the approximately $15 + 25% tip I had paid. I felt a tinge of hypocrisy when I noticed how many stickers for progressive causes there were throughout the establishment, yet they are seemingly not paying their employees enough to the point that they feel the need to have a 25% preset tip option on the iPad that asks you a few questions, at a basically self service restaurant.
