I'm LONG overdue for a review on Clear, since I've been using this service since about April. Bad…read moreStephanie! Anyway, when I moved recently, I decided that I was going to downgrade from my current plan with U-verse (internet and cable w/DVR) to internet only. This was huge, friends. HUGE. If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I'm a sucker for reality TV. Every trashy reality TV show on Bravo you can think of? I was a fan, and it was all on my DVR, along with countless other shows I'm too embarrassed to mention in this review. So for me to go from 300+ channels and DVR to absolutely NO TV (not even basic cable, folks -- I was quitting this sucker cold turkey!) was a huge feat for me. And apparently, it was also a huge feat for U-verse, who wasn't making this transition pleasant for me. So I cut the cord on U-verse as well. And I went with Clear instead. After a simple phone call, I had a SUPER reasonably priced internet-only plan set up. Instead of waiting for days for a cable company to come over and hook up my internet, I received a cable modem in the mail the VERY NEXT DAY. It was super easy to hook up, and BAM! I had internet. Like I said, I've been with Clear since April, and have had their service in both Brentwood and Maplewood. In both areas, I've had no problems with connectivity, internet speed, or anything else. My internet is just as fast as it was with U-verse (and before that, Charter), and it's reasonably priced. The one downside to Clear is that I am locked into a 2 year contract, but since it's not tied to one particular address (like I said, I had this service in Brentwood, and now in Maplewood), I didn't see an issue with that. I will be using the internet for the next two years (and beyond!) after all. One big plus: unlike Charter and U-verse, Clear has NO data cap on streaming. That means I can Netflix away without worrying about exceeding my data limit (and paying a hefty fee) every month. And I'll be honest: I do occasionally stream my trashy reality TV as well. It's like a drug, I swear. Do they have rehab for reality TV show addicts?

It says (hilariously I might add) "Let me take a look at your equipment!" (Beg pardon!?) It then pings a signal to said equipment and tells you to give it 5 minutes. It often takes several tries. Not to mention the irritating nuisance of certain apps, like Disney/Hulu never connecting until they've verified who you are. They ask your user name, email addy, phone number, it asks you to verify the name of the subscriber, and enter your password. It always says your password is incorrect. Disney is policing that app to make sure no one is beating them out of a nickel, but we can't question why a trip to their parks costs $10K per family for 4 days. But that's a topic for another day. Spectrum's Xumo streaming device is C H E A P. Drop the remote on a hardwood floor and you'll be picking-up 100 cheap pieces of plastic to reassemble it. It can be done, I've done it. But I've reinforced mine with tape. Spectrum needs to Improve on every level. I hate to have to ditch them and go to another provider (or non provider and just join the apps on my own...via Roku or ? It's such an ordeal, it's exhausting. Tonight we watched 3/4's of a movie and it just FROZE. Never to resume. This service costs too much not to work. BTW, I sadly have them my internet and mobile business, along with a cable box for my 88 year old mother in law (who can't comprehend apps). I have a high tier internet set/up. So what gives?

I have been a customer for a number of years and was receiving email billings and electronic…read morebillings through Wells Fargo Bank until last February. Then all billings stopped and I had an inquiry processed by Wells Fargo and was notified that the problems were on your end. I contacted customer service and was told to check my spam folder and in one case told they would reset my paperless billing and I would receive an electronic billing. That never happened and all I got was email messages requesting I complete the process of registering online. I have been receiving emails regarding service upgrades all through this so don't believe the issue is my email system. To make this very clear, one recent email asked me to provide a pin that would be found on my bill that I was not receiving. That agent clearly did not understand what I needed. Today I received my paper bill - the first bill I have received since February - and I was charged $1 for the use of paper. I resented that and am now going to cancel service entirely. For $1 you will lose an account. That is about as stupid as this whole ordeal has been. Someone at your level needs to be aware of how things work. Why go paperless when I have no guarantee I will ever receive another bill. The problems with Wells Fargo were on your end. The processing of an electronic billing were on your end. Charge me a $1 for having to get a bill will cost you. I will find an alternative means by which to get access to the internet. I have no issues with your service but do have issues with how I have been treated as a customer and will your billing processes. Richard Effland

During that time, my internet was fast and reliable - I don't remember it ever going out. They were friendly and helpful during the installation and set up process. Rates stayed low throughout with no hidden fees. But the best part of my experience was actually when it came time to cancel my service. When I have used other (bigger corporate) internet providers canceling my service was almost impossible and came with lots of extra charges. When I let Elite Fiber know I was moving and needed to turn off service, they turned off my autopay and began closing down my account within a day. They were also responsive and personable in all my communications with them.
