We had a horrible experience with Miguel, Spectrum's technician, last week installing a pool light. He messed up the electrical system by crossing our landscape lights with the pool light causing the circuit breaker to trip: dangerous. I called him to come back out to look at it and he told me he didn't have time and it wasn't his fault. It was his fault I told him, nothing else could explain it. He only got loud and said it was my problem and hung-up on me. Horrible customer service; which seemed to be documented on Yelp about Miguel, several complaints and growing in number. I had to get an electrician to come out and repair Miguel's ineptness. He doesn't know what he is doing. I'm requesting a refund of electrician fees for their repair. The company I've been using all these years is located all the way in Thousand Oaks and can't be bothered to return my calls anymore. Even though we spent 20k with them about a decade ago renovating our pool. Nice. My experience with the folks at Spectrum has been positive down the line. They returned my calls quickly, quoted me a fair price, and completed the work as scheduled. We had an old Hayward sand filter that was leaking and failing. Spectrum came out and replaced it with a brand new Hayward cartridge filter (way better than sand filter technology). Their price was more than fair for the filter and installation. I know, I checked the price on Amazon for the same filter. Installing it myself was not an option. I have always been a firm believer that somethings should be left to the professionals. This would include major plumbing, air conditioning and auto repair, major appliance installation, high voltage, and other really complex shit I have no idea how to fix or install. I have used this company for several years in hopes that they would get better, since we had such a "complicated" pool. Rarely could we just turn our heater on and enjoy the pool. There was always new things wrong, which they couldn't fix right away. The man that came to clean the pool would not wear his mask and would taunt my dogs until I got them into the house. A Bichon and Maltipoo. he also brings his girlfriend with him, who is of no help. Today the 8 month old Malitpoo was in the yard and decided he was not safe coming to the house any longer. Thankfully were forced to get a new pool company. The new company I am hiring came out to see the pool. He asked when it has been serviced last and I told him today! He pointed out all the Algae and then did a water test which showed all the chemicals he had tried to use (4) which only caused my daughter severe itching. He also showed me where there was a leak, which no one pointed out and some chlorine number was up to 100 which he said it should be about 82. Under Spectrum's care, my spa was constantly cloudy and foaming. Every time I'd call to complain, all they did was offer to empty and refill my spa for several hundred dollars. I paid for this service a few times but the problems would come back after just a few weeks. I just replaced Spectrum with a new spa service provider who fixed all the problems by adding a few chemicals. In retrospect, the person Spectrum was sending to me probably did little or nothing to actually service my spa, and I likely paid for their refill service unnecessarily because all my spa really needed was competent regular weekly service, which I paid for but didn't receive from Spectrum. read more

I always recommend getting multiple quotes in any aspect of doing good business -- you get be best prices and knowledge about the industry. So anyways... I called 3 people for quotes to repair the valves for my pool. The heat was only going to the pool instead of the jacuzzi. We had to add a couple valve actuators to change the flow of water and a pump. 1. The first company quoted me $1500 - and I denied them. 2. The second company came by and actually broke my pump and and burned out my pools electrical panel so I just told the guy not to come back... what's worse is that he denied it and didn't take responsibility plus he was an ass hole. 3. The third company, Spectrum Pool, is who I chose to do business with. First we had to fix what the other guy burned out. Turns out it was a few fuses that needed to be replaced. I spent a week fixing this with the company listed here as "Spectrum Pool" .... thank god Miguel knew what he is doing. This guy is very good and knows all his stuff. He is very honest and straight to the point - no Bull shit. And then we moved on to the actual repair for the jacuzzi and he charged me a total of $800 with labor and parts. Still lots of money but definitely worth it because of past experience. I recommend these guys and Miguel especially. He's a great man! Tomo was able to locate the source of my leaks right away. Like a sixth sense :) It took five or six visits total, to fix the leak, check that everything was working, and repair the concrete. He was able to do this within a week and a half. I was very happy with the work and will definitely call Spectrum and Tomo again if I need a pool repair. read more

Amanda their glorified receptionist/coffee maker, is a whopping pain in the ass. She is rude, not at all friendly or helpful, and argumentative. LARRY should fire her..I mean divorce her. I was with spectrum for 4.5 years and the first 2 years when Carlos was maintaining my pool, 2010-2012, were fantastic. He showed up ON TIME EVERY WEEK, he did a great job, he was friendly, he called to buzz my phone upon his expected arrival, so I could open the gate for him. Then they ditched Carlos and sent Gary to my house. Gary never shows up solo, always has a friend tagging along. AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH the Monday appointment with a FIVE HOUR WINDOW FROM 7am-12NOON.. Was skipped/missed. I'd frequently receive a monotonous and not at all apologetic phone call from Amanda TWO HOURS AFTER THE SCHEDULED WINDOW CLOSED, to say, "they missed the appointment, they will reschedule". No sh*t Sherlock. They missed the appointment? IS THIS NEWS? No. It is not. It is commonplace for this company to cry, "woe is me, we can't keep a goddamned schedule we don't know how to run our business".. At least, from a customer standpoint, that's what it sounded like via telephone. Like the adults from Charlie Brown /Peanuts. I live in a crappy area of North Hollywood and the property MUST remain gated and locked at all times. YOU WOULD THINK a legitimate and upstanding business WOULD KEEP A REGULAR APPOINTMENT.. But no. They're completely useless. The pool is rarely without algae. The kids leave a mess behind nearly every week. They forget to reassemble the filter and basket. They drag the hose to the front of the house and leave it there.. They no-show or arrive too late to get the job done. Save your sanity. Save your property. AVOID SPECTRUM at all cost. I'd give zero stars if possible. Get your company together, Larry. STOP letting children run your office and stop letting children service your customers. Good riddance to bad rubbish. And a fine F YOU to "Amanda". You are absolutely hands-down AWFUL at customer service. I'm pretty sure you also work for CRIME WARNER CABLE with your foul attitude and do-nothing behaviour. I have used Spectrum for about 2 years, and I estimate 60-70% of the time something doesn't go right, from unusual billing processes, to overbilling, to poor communication about what will be performed, to leaving a sloppy mess on my driveway and street after completing their work. They are very nice people (even refunded me on a poor job in the past), but it's time for me to move on. He showed up when he said he would. 2. Completed the job in the timeframe he quoted. 3. Did beautiful work the way a craftsman would. 4. He took the time to show me why I had a problem and why I won't be having that problem anymore. There were little things that needed some TLC that weren't contracted - he went ahead and took care of these details anyway- a big change from anyone I had ever worked with. Initially, I did not have a good experience with Spectrum pool care, lets just say that the guy who came out did a very unsatisfactory job not just the first time but also the second time to re clean our spa he had cleaned the day prior. I had called and expressed my disappointment and decided to just call it a wash and loss of money. The owner called me personally, listened to me vent and asked if he could come over himself and clean our spa again. I agreed. Spectrum solved a water exchange problem I had between my jacuzzi and pool that 4 other companies previously could not resolve over several years. The Spectrum office made an evaluation appointment; a technician (Miguel) turned up right on time, was very personable, did his investigation and informed me exactly what he thought the problem was and how it could be fixed I got a written estimate for repair with in 24 hours; authorized the service and had the work done. The best part was that after 3 or so years with 4 different companies trying to rectify the situation, the issue was resolved quickly and right on budget. You can stop looking for pool leak repair, this is the best you will find. I don't write a lot of reviews if that means anything to you, but I just had a pipe & skimmer repair job done by Tomo at Spectrum Pool Care and I was 100% completely satisfied. Repairs always hurt but this was as painless as it gets, and I feel like congratulating myself for calling this company for the work. I had an underground pool leak which was quickly diagnosed and options explained thoroughly. It was a tough job....out came the jackhammer, put in a new skimmer, 25 feet of new underground pipes, new concrete. I am picky and try to monitor what's going on, and I was VERY impressed with his hard work and expertise. Tomo worked his ass off during a really hot week, but was always in good spirits and eager to explain what he was doing when I asked, and offered tips to avoid future problems with my aging pool & pipes. It is hard to find a good reliable honest person who does repairs, someone who you can tell takes pride in what they do for a living right? I saw the good reviews for Spectrum Pool Care for my area. Those good reviews are well deserved. I recently purchased a house that had a pool with automation and a broken down heater from 1995. I called around to various pool places but after talking with Mark from Spectrum I knew I had my guy. I service my own pool so I cannot speak to their service business but Mark replaced my heater with a new one, new variable speed filter, and iAqualink automation so I can control the pool from my computer or phone.
