Do I have to be the 200 millionth unhappy customer to tell you that Time Warner Cable (now owned by Charter Comm as of the finalization of their acquisition and operating under the banner of "Spectrum") has the absolute worst level of customer service known to this writer "BAR NONE"! Fair Warning; do business with this company and you be deceived and plucked like a turkey on Thanksgiving Day. Why the FCC, the FTC, the Attorneys General and others let this company get away with behavior that should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and then sanctioned against ever doing further business in this country or any other leaves me in bewilderment. There is something very wrong here. Big business owns this country, and they're getting bigger every day. On February 13, 2014, Comcast Corporation announced its intent to acquire Time Warner Cable. The Department of Justice planned to file an antitrust lawsuit against Comcast and Time Warner Cable in an effort to block it. On April 24, 2015, Comcast announced that it would withdraw its proposal to acquire TWC. Afterward, TWC would enter into an agreement to be acquired by Charter Communications . That 56 Billion Dollar deal is now finalized and Charter Comm Inc now doing business as "Spectrum" is the third largest cable communications company in the US, behind ATT and Comcast. So, who's behind this deal? Billionaire media executive John C. Malone AKA the "King of Cable" had acquired a major share of Charter Comm, and is said to be the "Man Behind the Throne" so to speak engineering the acquisition and decision making process. So, what does this mean to you? Less competition from fewer cable and internet service providers, which equates to higher prices and fewer choices for you the ultimate consumer. Thank you again DOJ, FCC and FTC for further allowing these mega conglomerate corporations to further decrease our choices on the so called competitive open market. How much money did these corporations donate to the political campaign coiffures of certain politicians that are in a position to excerpt influence over the governmental entities that are supposed to regulate free trade on behalf of the American People? Since those numbers are effectively hidden from the public, ( they are supposed to be disclosed as a matter of law,) we'll never know, or will we? Please wake up people, you are being duped. Cancel your cable, there are so many ways to obtain entertainment without lining the pockets of the giant multinational corporations that are eventually going to erode your standard of living to that of a third world country. Look around you, it's happening now. So go to your window and yell "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore", then close that window, go back to your couch and continue watching that mindless chewing gum television that gets you out of the reality you so do not want to face. Spectrum has been by far the worst company to do business with, I have had a personal and business account with them and have noticed on both sides they have horrible internet service, customer service has been misleading/fraudulent, billing department is a circus, Equipment Return department seems to lose track of equipment or steals it, installation is not done correctly and generally they rush/ equipment is on splittlers. I highly recommend finding a different company to carry your services. business or personal. Internet service: I have lots of trouble with my internet service I have one of there best offers in our location and I will get outage and our computers and phones will not work. We will have very slow speeds some days. When complaining about this all they ever do is say it will be up as soon as possible. Customer service: There is nothing worst than being upset and having to explain your story 10 times to every different department. I have even lead with, there is nothing you can I need to speak with ******* so they can resolve my issue. They continue with "well I need to put in a summery on my end". Once talking with their department I have been promised follow up calls or emails. NEVER have they followed through. I have asked for reference numbers and was told "we do not have those, they get posted to your account" (we have multiple accounts.) Promises are made and never kept on spectrums end. Our business has grown and we relocated to a larger location, over the years this has happened twice. When I moved location both times they were suppose to TRANSFER the account. Instead of Transferring the account they opened a new account and never closed the old account. Spectrum then sent the old location to collection because they failed at Transferring and closing. This happened both times. This caused billing issues. Billing department: Once old location was a "closed account" they kept taking payment for the new location and putting it on the old locations account. Spectrums excuse was it's our computers fault. This happened for 6 months and they kept telling me they fixed it and I would have to call back each month. Equipment Return department: When spectrum changed over and told me I needed new equipment for my service because I have faster internet now, they came by and picked up the equipment and gave me a receipt. When closing account now they say they never got the equipment. SAVE THE RECEIPT PEOPLE.. They do not follow though. Installation: My 1st complaint is they do not show up when they say they will show up. For my house location, they gave me an hour window and then showed up at my business location. For my Business location they needed to run lines and they kept sending someone out that was not capable and would have to resource with a new tech. At our home location everything is on splitters and they would not run lines where I needed them. They wanted me to have cords across the floor. I find them Lazy as a whole. read more

I attempted to cancel my service on 8/12/2019 as I was in the process of moving to a new home. Spectrum does not let you cancel online so I had to call. There were long wait times so it was suggested I leave a phone number to call back at. I did and received a call. While trying to confirm my account we got disconnected and I did not receive a call back. I called Spectrum again and waited and when trying to confirm my account they could not and said I would have to get my account number. On 9/6/2019 I was able to call back to cancel my service and expected to be provided a prorated amount as I was not going to receive a full month of service. At this time I was told that as of 6/23/2019 they no longer offered prorated amounts of service stating that this was a monthly subscription plan. This information was not sent to me in a separate message nor was this on my May, June or July billing statements. In essence I have to pay for service for 8/31 through 9/29 even though I cannot use the service and they did not adequately disseminate this information. While subscription plans such as Netflix, Hulu or even Amazon Prime will not refund you if canceled in the middle of the month these services can still be used until the end of that billing cycle. This is not the case with Spectrum when this service is not provided at my new home. I have no issues paying for what has been provided but it is wrong to pay for something I cannot receive. I will never ever use Spectrum again.  I'll use two cans and a string before I use their mobile service, watch DVD's on my TV, and read a newspaper before I use their Internet service.  I have had nothing but problems since I signed on with them a couple of months ago.  When calling customer service and listening to that stupid recording forever, I was constantly being transferred to someone else which meant a couple of hours with each call I made.  Not to mention never getting any results.  And EVERYONE I talked to would high pressure me into using their Mobile Service and buying a new cell phone thru them, even after telling them I didn't want it.  However, in a frustrated moment I finally broke down and decided to use their cell service and purchased a phone thru them.  Eventually after more problems, I decided to drop all of their services which included TV, Internet, and mobile service.   Then they told me it would cost $50 to return the phone that I had just purchased and was still in the box it came in.  If I did that, I would be with no phone and it would be like throwing $50 bucks out the window.   So I went back with AT&T who I had been with for decades with no problems.  When I went to an AT&T store to have the new phone I bought thru Spectrum activated, they said they couldn't unless Spectrum released it.  I called Spectrum back and they said I had to own the phone for at least 60 days before they could deactivate it.  I would not recommend Spectrum to my worst enemy.  So if you go with them BEWARE. read more

Spectrum was an absolute nightmare. I was originally with Time Warner and only had 50mbps a month for like $40. I moved 2 months ago and I couldn't get online for a few days. Finally a tech comes out to get my internet working. It's really really slow and keeps disconnecting. They thought maybe it was the older router I got from TW so they sent me a new one, didn't resolve the problem. They told me I was still a Time Warner Legacy plan and if I upgraded to their 100mbps plan (slowest plan they have) that it'd resolve the problem. I was told it'd cost me $65. That did not resolve the problem plus they were billing me $80 a month. I found out it was literally only 4mbps. I was dealing with them via Twitter, phone and techs coming out. They kept blaming my laptop but that doesn't explain my printer not connecting and my Roku dropping signal constantly. One tech told me I had to go replace all of my electronics because mine sucked. First off my electronics are new and work fine and I have a high end computer for work. That's really rude and inappropriate. Over the weekend I was getting messages that said "your internet is blocked" and then when I was trying to use services like Hulu on any device it told me I was using an anonymous proxy and blocked me from watching things. I switched to another service and it's almost the speed they promised me for almost $20 less. Today I dropped off the equipment and closed my account with Spectrum before my new billing cycle starts tomorrow. read more

In 2019 the cancellation policy changed to a subscription service, meaning if you end services even 1 day into your new billing cycle, you will be charged. FOR. AN. ENTIRE. MONTH!!! And none of the employees bother to tell you so you can at least decide whether to continue use for services you're already paying for, but because "it's written on the billing statement," the deceitful company has covered their legal ass, even though you may not ever read the clause if you signed up for electronic billing. Their customer service sucks! A representative told me that if I was still a customer, they could do something about reversing the charge; however, now a new account can't be created until the $50 debt is paid in full, which the assholes sent to collections. I submitted a complaint through the FCC, who agreed that this doesn't seem like a fair practice but the bitch named Kelly from Spectrum basically told me "tough shit, I don't care that there is a pandemic occurring and you're barely working." Honestly I would give 0 stars if I could but if you're reading this review and see their overall rating you'll know that most of this will be repetitive. Unfortunately Charter had a monopoly on the building I lived in so I HAD to order them for Internet and TV. They GOUGE you with pricing knowing you have no other option. They bundle their packages forcing you to buy a package you don't want because it's a lower price for crap you don't need but they bundle it. As EVERYONE says on here the internet is the WORST I've ever had. And I've had FiOS, Uverse, and even Cox cable before. I honestly thought it couldn't get worse than Cox cable buy Charter really ran away with that award with flying colors. They're DVR is slow, and I don't know how they can have interference on cable but somehow they managed to do it. Overall stay away from this service, their customer service is horrible. AVOID SPECTRUM!! These people are the worst ever!!!!! My mother's death was not hard enough, but they had no problem piling on. They told us that her equipment we were returning was not correct (a statement they later reversed). Then, while we were looking everywhere for said phantom equipment, they said we ended up being three days late on the disconnect request, so they are charging another $218.06. In fact, the request to cancel services was made on 9/25 for an end-of-the-billing cycle date they told us was 9/28. The return equipment receipt through UPS was dated 9/27 (still before the 9/28 cutoff date). They lied about the equipment, the billing date, and the cancellation request. But, why not if you can grab a bit more cash from even the dead? read more

Literally the worst option for cable service. Surprisingly, their internet is decent but then again I only use it to surf the web, Netflix and Hulu. With their cable service you get spotty reception, On Demand channels RARELY work, DVR SERVICE SUCKS! It won't record shows AND when it does YOU MISS THE LAST 2 MINS OF YOUR RECORDING ALWAYS!!!! You can only record 2 shows at once and you have to set one of the shows to start 1-2 mins later to do it. It's literally the worst. Oh yeah, you think you're going crazy when you know it did record a show, u search your recordings, and it's not there... then all of a sudden it is there! It's such a BS cable service. I have never had a problem in service going out and the speed is amazing and in times when I needed customer service they are the greatest Spectrum Customer service number - 1 888{664} 2812. I believe when the service did go out briefly we were notified of circumstances and when to expect service I go on and on saying good things. Price is very reasonable as well and you can get a service tech out pronto if you need one. Also, very reasonable for service call and most of the time no charge. Worst ISP/TV service in the country. Never been screwed so hard by a "service" provider in my life. First, internet speeds were constantly slow and TV sporadically went out without explanation. Then, when you try to contact someone about it you're on hold for hours (one of mine was 3.5 hours) and they're always transferring you around because nobody who works there knows what they're doing. To top it off, they'll rip you off when you cancel their "service" and claim you didn't return your equipment. Avoid them at all costs and keep your receipts. read more

I cannot stand Spectrum!!! Have you noticed that they announced Cable TV and Internet Price increases in early August 2023, well ahead of the Disney/ESPN issue. Is this a coincidence or planned-out strategy that they do this weeks before going black on ESPN and other Disney owned channels. I suspect they knew about this renegotiation issue well in advance and increased pricing in advance to cover the Disney Fees.
