Trenton pizza is fantastic always a good selection of slices, wings are great service is friendly

If a pizza place makes a great pie ( my son swears by the Trenton style, with extra garlic), but then cannot deliver it for 1 hour and 50 minutes to my office under a mile away at Paoli Hospital, what have they actually accomplished for this first time (and now last time) customer? Sorry guys, the devil is in the details, and unfortunately for you stretches outside of the kitchen: I am moving on. I don't like cold pizza, and I don't have an oven to reheat 2-hours cold pizza to my staff!! My suggestion? Take phone numbers with delivery orders and have the courtesy to call if the promised 30 minute delivery cannot happen for any reason. read more

This pizza shop is small and busy, located in a strip mall right in the middle of Paoli. They have all the standard stuff, including sandwiches and salads. I ordered two slices of pepperoni. They were large and well-priced. They were re-heated in the oven, so that was great. Unfortunately, the crust was a completely soggy mess, and it would have stuck to the paper plate, except that it was so greasy that the grease leaked through the bottom of the crust, through the paper plate, and through the paper bag all the way into my car seat. EWWWWWWWWW. I got out of the car with one slice and tried to eat it outdoors in the 35 degree weather. I had to fold it twice to get it to stop leaking. I bit into it. Pow, leaking oil all over the pavement, all over my fingers, and dripping down my wrist, threatening my shirtsleeve and coat. Quickly I reversed my hands to point downward. Whew. Close call. Taste? Well, wet, oily, greasy, salty. Nothing much else to say. read more

My husband and I live around the corner from this location so we decided to walk. We were both craving pizza/wings combo and gave this another shot since it's relatively a recent location. This was our 2nd time since they had opened. We walk in and weren't really greeted at all until I said hello. We placed our order by properly asking, "may we get a small 1/2 cheese and 1/2 pepp pizza?" "No you can't" the girl jokingly responded. now, this woulda been ok if she had established rapport with us but she hadn't. *rolls eyes* anyway, we requested wings as well but for the 2nd time "we're out of wings"...how can a pizza place be out of wings and more than once? this is a sunday night order people!! so we decided to get some garlic knots instead. we waited for about 25min or so and walked home. We get home and opened it and it seemed like it hadn't been cooked all the way thru. ya sure it was hot but super greasy and oil everywhere. The garlic knots were good and probably the best part. However, the pizza didn't even taste that great. I made it thru one slice and I was done. "never eating here again" we said to each other. So if you're looking for a quick fix of pizza with that overly greasy flavor - this is your place. I haven't tried the sandwiches yet but if they can screw up pizza I don't want to bother. read more

I've only ordered food to go from this place. Staff seems friendly and the pizza is always made quick -- even when they're hustling. I have had one occasion where someone was short and a bit sharp. I'm pretty sure she was in high school and I remember those days so whatever. Here's what I get: TRENTON STYLE PIZZA. It's really like no pizza I've had before. I added pepperoni, but I believe if you keep it original it should taste even better. The Trenton style comes in one size and that 16" pie is more than enough for a group of people. Really first rate Trenton style pizza . Use San Marzanno tomato's. Big square thin crust, good cheese amount and sauce on top! About $17 Also had an excellent antipasto. Roasted peppers, prosciutto, aged provolone, artichoke hearts, olives. It was very large and great for under $10. Not a pretty restaurant. but good pizza. Reheated great! Owner had a really nice dog. The first time I ordered from this place the lady said 40 minutes for delivery arrival. 2 hours later I still didnt have my food. When the delivery driver had the nerve to call me after waiting that long to tell me he couldnt find my address, I told him to go pound sand. The second time I ordered was less than a month ago. I received a pizza that was somewhat stale crusted. It tasted like the dough might have been made the day previous. I have eaten at other Spatola/Spizzico locations in the neighboring suburbs and the pizza was always half decent. I also ordered a Chicken Panini and it was completely inedible. The chicken was like biting into a hockey puck. Im lucky I didnt chip a tooth. I took it out and couldnt even pull it apart with brute hand strength. The arugula was rancid and sopping in liquid. I brought it up to an employee who acted as if he could care less. The super positive and descriptive reviews I suspect are false or written by people who have no idea what a good pie consists of. The pizza here is certainly above average. I ordered the Trenton slice and the Buffalo Chicken slice -- and it was very good. Crust was just a little crispy, the sauce was tasty but not overwhelming -- the cheese on the Trenton slice was very good. As far as the location is concerned -- it is a great place to hop in, grab a slice or a pie and go. There are only 6 bar stools to sit at if you want to eat-in, so that is a bit of a challenge. I'm not sure it rises to the "best pizza" anywhere -- but I would definitely eat their pizza again. read more

Freaking amazing and fresh pizza! It's Football Sunday and my friends and I were ready to order from Pizza Hut when we found out they couldn't deliver until later in the day. Desperate for pizza, we decided to take a gamble on Spatola's and boy are we glad we did! If I could give zero I would. FYI .... If you are looking to order pizzas for your child's birthday party , DO NOT ORDER from SPATOLAS in Paoli.... I called yesterday evening (10/23) to order 8 pizzas for our son's seventh birthday party at Grand Slam in Frazer. They took the order down no problem and confirmed it to be delivered to the venue at 1 PM (today, Sunday 10/24) .... I even gave them the exact address. This morning I called Spatola's at 11 am before the party to make sure I asked to have the pies double sliced. The guy on the other line said, "yes, we have that down to be doubled sliced." And AGAIN , confirmed it for 1pm at Grand Slam. One o'clock rolls around and then 1:15 no pizzas. My husband called and the guy on the other line told him (with attitude) they "hadn't even made them yet, must've gotten the time wrong , but they could make them soon and would be around 45 minutes" by that time the party would have been over. We told them to forget it. We ended up only having cake and had extra time with nothing to do. We added mini golf to our party plan because we were stuck with extra time there with nothing to do. We have usually ordered from them before with no issues . It was actually a go to for us in the area because their food is safe for our food allergy son. It's a shame since it's not exactly easy finding "safe" restaurants for him. There are only a few we trust..... We will NEVER give them service again. We are not picky people what so ever and never complain. This is absolutely inexcusable. I have heard of other people I know not using them anymore lately also because of similar reasons. The pizza here is great. We do delivery and I am consistently disappointed. Even when they set the expectation of 45 minutes it's never been under an hour. As much as I love the pizza I would rather have something delivered hot then take an hour and be cold. read more

I'd not say anything about how the food tastes. However, the people here prepare your food without wearing any gloves. I saw one guy here mixing the cheese, tapping the pizza dough and spreading the toppings over the pizza using his bare hands; not wearing any gloves at all. read more

Writing about the new Spatola's Pizza on the corner of Rt. 113 and Peck Road in Downingtown. Tried to order a pizza for carry out on Sunday August 29. First call rang 8 times with no answer. Maybe they are closed. Tried again couple minutes later and someone picked-up after 4 rings and said please hold. I hung up after waiting over 5 minutes. Cannot comment on their food, but it appears their service is terrible. Not sure if I will try again, might wait to see if they make it. We live in Paoli and really like to support local businesses. We have tried with Spatola's and have been customers from the time they opened, but ... no more. The pizza is good, but we stopped having pizza delivered when the delivery people never had change and we were overpaying. Next we would order and pick up. Tonight on the way home from work we decided to order a pizza and asked for delivery. The man who answered the phone said he didn't see the number (my husband's mobile) come up in his system. We explained we normally call from another number (my mobile). Instead of adding this additional number to our account, asking for the other number, etc. he told us to call back later using the number in his system. We said that wasn't convenient and if he wouldn't take the order we would need to go somewhere else. He said 'ok' and hung up. We are done with Spatola's - there are too many other places that actually want our business. read more

I am a self proclaimed pizza snob and after trying a few places in the area, I found my spot! The pizza is delicious. We usually order bacon on ours and we're always delighted to find huge strips of bacon (vs. tiny bits you might get elsewhere). The Trenton pie is also tasty. The Greek salad is yummy and we also love the chicken parm sandwich. We always have fast and reliable delivery service. read more

We moved to Paoli from Wayne about 2 years ago, and for a while struggled to find a pizza place we liked. We tried Malvern Pizza (too thick and doughy), Berwyn Pizza (same as Malvern), and a few others. In Wayne we went to Spizzico, and really liked it. But nothing in Paoli was similar, until Spatola's opened. It was exactly what we wanted. Thin, saucy, salty, delicious. We usually just get plain or pepperoni pizza, so I can't really speak to anything else on the menu, but their pizza is exactly what I was looking for. read more

When this place opened it had the best pizza, bar none, in the entire area. the hawaiian pizza was best I ever had. they used real bacon. Around March timeframe, something changed, my neighbors and I noticed. Not sure if it's a new pizza maker, but the dough and sauce aren't the same. I'll change it to 4/5 stars if it improves. They are also super busy on weekends, to the point it might take longer than they tell you for a pizza. Update: raising rating to 5 stars. Best Pizza anywhere. Brooklyn and Trenton are amazing. the pizza would probably taste better knowing the staff wore gloves when they made it, but since they don't, I can't physically think about it in the typically appetizing way. On the subject of the staff, they're not particularly friendly, either. They told us "they needed about twenty minutes" to make our pizza, which was fine, but that twenty minutes was spent barking orders at the kid that works there that barely speaks English while they took breaks from fighting with each other and being rude to other customers. I heard the woman who works there tell someone on the phone "I guess you can do that, but I wouldn't recommend it," and when a woman came in to get her order, the guy I assume owns it told her "I need another ten minutes" before then telling her "I told whoever I talked to on the phone I'd need at least 25-30 minutes." If not for the absence of gloves, I probably wouldn't pay much mind to their attitudes because the rest of the place seemed pretty clean and I know how stupid customers can be, but I go out for pizza every Thursday and never come across someone who tells their customers "I need _________ minutes." I don't tell people at my job to give me a minute or that I need a minute to do what they're asking me to do because I don't feel like I have the right to talk to a stranger that way. I politely tell them how long it will take me to do something; I don't talk to them as if they owe me anything. Oh, and the pizza is okay. read more

Surprised at the bad reviews here. We ranked this one in our top 3 local joints ( behind Anthony's and Mediterraneo). Thin crust, good sauce to cheese ratio, and they deliver. Only complaint is our last pizza was a little heavy on the oregano. I say it's worth a try, there seem to be few places in the area that are decent and deliver. read more

I have to start by saying the only reason they get 4 stars is because their pizza is that amazing. The Supreme is bargain considering that they use huge hunks of portobello and the sheer amount of toppings makes each slice extremely heavy and satisfying Their special with goat cheese, pesto and roasted garlic may be my favorite. Everyone finds it extremely difficult to limit themselves to the polite and socially acceptable 2 slices when they try it. Their biggest downfall is their delivery time. They truly need to have more drivers available, especially on Thursday and Friday nights. One evening, when we were given a time frame of 45 minutes to an hour for delivery, we didn't receive our pizza until an HOUR AND 45 minutes later. When we called to check in on the status after and hour and half, assuming that we were either forgotten or something horribly tragic happened, we were told it would be there shortly and no attempt to apologize or discount our pizza or future order was made. For cold pizza arriving nearly 2 hours after the order time, I found this fairly irritating (okay, mind-numbingly incomprehensible), but alas it was my extremely polite boyfriend who handled the situation. After the hangry subsided, I didn't call back to complain in order to uphold the implicit trust in our relationship. I chose love over customer satisfaction. On two other occasions, the delivery was 20 minutes after the given time range. The last time we ordered, the very nice person taking our order gave us the heads up that it would be at least an hour giving us the opportunity to go for the pick up instead. They either need to be extremely up front about the limitations of their one, possibly two, delivery guys at the time of ordering or politely suggest that picking up would be faster. Again, if it weren't for the absolutely incredible pizza, their delivery woes would possibly cripple this place. read more
