Service- amazing. Food-phenomenal. Ambiance- 100/10. I've been there 3x since it's been open. For only being open a week- they seem to have everything down well. There's kinks, as always when opening a brand new restaurant, but we hardly noticed. We had a the BLW I think it's called- a sandwich with a slice of watermelon and OH MY GOSH it was amazing. Didn't think I'd like it but woah, so good. Love the crab dip, the dip sandwich (im terrible with actual names) chicken sandwich (we were there for lunch one of the times) the "weekend at Bernie's" salad, plenty of cocktails and they were all fantastic! My wife and I visited on 4/13 for dinner. Let's start with the positives. The hostess and wait staff were friendly, professional, and attentive. The restaurant is nicely decorated and was very clean. It is a large, open warehouse style room with no sound deadening, so even on a Monday night with only 1/3 of the tables filled, it was loud and hard to have a conversation across the table. I hate this trend of every new restaurant having to be louder than the next. It's a restaurant, not a nightclub. What happened to classy restaurants where you could have an intimate dinner and easy conversation with the people at your table? Looking around, the crowd was mostly 50-60 yrs old couples, and yet the restaurant had this weird techno track playing that seemed strangely out of place given the clientele and the mood. The quality of the food was where we were left very disappointed. We started with the crabcake appetizer. 3 half dollar sized cakes which were very good but at $32 felt overpriced. I ordered the ribs. They were clearly steamed or boiled then thrown under a broiler with some sauce on them. They were mushy, fell completely off the bones, which anyone who knows ribs knows means they are overcooked, and had no smoke flavor at all. Very disappointing. Chili's down the road serves a much better rack of ribs at $10 less. Not saying that Chili's is the pinnacle of BBQ, but that tells you how mediocre these ribs really were. My wife ordered the "Chef's Special" which that night was pasta with a pesto sauce. It was very dry and had an odd garden hose note to the flavor. We had to ask for salt and pepper to give it some semblance of taste. But wait, it gets better (worse?) We asked if they had bread for the table. Not an uncommon complimentary request. They do, but it's $5. $8 if you want butter with it! Seriously? Okay, we order, thinking we're getting some amazing fresh baked mini loaf of bread or a selection of freshly baked breads. NO!!! We got 2 pieces of sourdough toast, sliced in half!!! I swear, it was like they ran next door to Safeway and bought a loaf of bread, toasted 2 pieces, and charged us $8. Unbelievable. Plus, we had ordered the bread right after ordering the appetizer, well before the meal came out. The meals came out before the bread. Someone else then comes out asking if we still wanted the bread. Um, yes, that's why we ordered it. So she says, Okay, I'll make it happen. What? It hadn't been "happening" for the 20 minutes since we ordered it? I left a good tip because the wait staff was good, but we were all in for over $175 for a meal that saying it was mediocre would be praising it. The cost of education is expensive, and we learned a pricy lesson that night about where not to dine in Peoria. If you look at a menu before you go, and it seems like the restaurant isn't sure what it wants to be, it doesn't. That was our first clue and we should have listened to our inner skepticism. read more

My husband and I are both from the coast so we got the seafood platter and it was very fresh! We sat outside with the heater and a view of the very happening bar and it was perfect. Second time here, first was opening week and it disappointed so figured I'd give them a try again. Arrived at 4:45p and asked for patio seating but was told it was reserved. Before seating is inside they stayed "We can seat you inside but you have to be out by 6:30p.." pretty strange thing to say. It took 10 min before anyone even came to our table - Strike 1 I ordered the happy hour Old Fashioned -$15. It was good. I ordered the Prime Rib dip just as I did the first time I was here. My wife order d the smash burger and was immediately told , I don't think we have that tonight! Really! You just opened and you sit next to a Safeway grocery store. They ended up having it after waitress checked with kitchen. Strike-2 Food came out and I noticed the Prime Rib sandwich had more meat on it than the first time I was here, a plus but the fries were very "blah" as Ifthey were grocery store frozen fries. My wife's burger was good but again the fries! I don't mind paying for good food but the Prime Rib dip was $32! and my wife's Smash burger was $22! The food definitely doesn't live up to the price point they have on it as well as the quality. Unfortunately, won't be back here even though it's literally in my back yard. read more

Recently had dinner there. I saw some of the negative reviews and being that this place just opened I went in not expecting too much. The westside of the valley is woefully ignored by restauranteurs. This builds and unwarranted amount of hype for any new trendy sort of place. Apparently some people have zero patience or understanding for how hard it is to get everything right from the jump. I was pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent. The oysters were some of the best I've had on the westside. Rivaling upscale steakhouses in quality and presentation. The food was pretty killer as well. All in all a pretty rad experience. Definitely will be back. read more

Our server was Eric and he was fantastic. The hostess staff was welcoming and great. The atmosphere is really nice. Food was really good. Our steak was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were amazing the ember smoked old fashion was perfection. The issue is the place is VERY loud. Uncomfortably loud. We were in a u both sitting right next to each other and practically yelling just to hear each other. Unfortunately due to this highly unlikely we would return. Slowest service in the history of the world. Been there 3 times now, 2 out of the 3 times the food delivery was ridiculously slow - not acceptable. I felt bad for the server, he was great, but if the food takes forever, what can you do. Great vibe, and the free desert offered by the manager for the delay was a nice gesture - Bourbon and Bones is right across the street. They'll get my money more often than not, they're solid, dependable, and consistent. Sparrow didn't appear to be a serious restaurant, more of a glorified bar, trying, but coming up short on being more. Fire whoever is in charge of food prep and / or delivery or change the process 100%. Hearing "sorry for the delay" 6 times in two hours is sub optimal! read more

Brought my team here after meeting quarterly goals. What a disappointment. All of our food was late and mediocre at best. What a waste of money not to mention ruining the celebratory dinner for my staff. They mention "scratch kitchen" in responses to reviews. Low quality, high cost. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I was so excited about going to this new upscale restaurant. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. The first red flag was watching our server chitchat with the people at the next table for at least 10 minutes. I had to get his attention to get water for our table after already waiting for 30 minutes. The second red flag was waiting for our food for OVER an hour. While waiting for our food, I went on Yelp and started reading the reviews and I wish I would've read them BEFORE I decided to come here. Even though there's good reviews, what got my attention were the bad reviews that are similar with issues of bad service, running out of food , and management making excuses instead of fixing the problem or at the very least showing empathy for the customer. Back to my original issue. I was waiting for my food. Turns out the server made a mistake and ordered the wrong meal, so I had to wait another 15 minutes for my meal. Even though the server was nice, he really needs a lot more training. Finally, I'm in the service industry and a manager. I would NEVER tell a customer because we are a new restaurant they should expect less than stellar service. And I would always find a way to make it right for the customer. Find a way to improve your services or you will fail. Update to my review. Lola, the business manager reached out and gave us a full refund, which I did not ask for but very much appreciated. I'm happy that they care enough to try and make it better. I will wait a few months and try Sparrow again, hoping by then they would have worked out the kinks and got proper training for the staff, and your managers. read more

I don't write many reviews but after our awful experience tonight I could not help but write this. Now it was only their 2nd day since the soft opening but isn't that what soft openings are for???? We were seated and looking over the menu when our server asked us about drinks, I ordered a beer and my wife orders their special $22 old fashion, seriously, this is Peoria, not Vegas $22 for an old fashioned . So the drinks show up, my beer is fine, how do you screw a beer up. Now my wife's craft old fashion is served with ice cubes, if you know, you know. I am like are you kidding me are we at Golden Corral? The server proceeds to tell us they ran out of ice balls, ok, how about tell us that on the front end? She then proceeded to inform us that they have no seafood tonight (the reason we came), okay there goes 50% of the menu. Here is an idea, management,when we show up to be seated tell us at the beginning you are out of 50% of the menu item's , seriously give us a chance to go somewhere else.8 So we ordered their meat balls for a starter, they were okay, the bread was burned I am seriously considering leaving before it gets worse but my wife said let's give it a chance, so I ordered their $23 burger and she ordered the $32 beef dip sandwich, yep, $32 no joke, but it was a joke. Well the orders come out and the fries are cold, okay there is another 15 minutes until the replacements come but we are finished with our meal. My wife's Golden Corral drink has been empty for 15 minutes but no server around so she decided to just go to the bar and order a safe beer and then returns to the table. So all we got was " sorry we got slammed last night". Okay, not my problem, but thanks for making it mine. So $170 later and I am done. This place is a joke if they expect to survive operating like this, I will doubt I will ever go back and I will certainly tell my friends about our magical experience . Real mid-high end restaurants are only 30 minutes away on the East side. Good luck Sparrow, you are going to need a lot of it. Edit to Lola's response, the reason I said nothing more was why bother at that point, actually my wife did voice the concerns to another manager, she gave us the same response as you. We should have been told BEFORE we were seated that 50% of the menu items were out, at least we could have had the option to come back another time. You made your problem our problem on our dime. By the way, yes brought the hot fries out, thank you, however our meal was pretty much done so thanks for the hot fries, after our meal was done. I didn't say anymore to you as it was already an absolute train wreck and I just wanted to get out of your restaurant. The restaurant is decorated beautifully, drinks were great, but we could not believe how good the food was. There must be a top tier chef here because all of the food we tried was so good. Helpful staff. Crazy noisy atmosphere at 7pm, food is just ok. Had a tuna tartare which was very tiny , mixed with rice (?), warm (tartare should be cold), my husband had half a lobster (extremely small portion) which left us hungry with an expensive bill for what it was. We found the decor warm and comfortable. From what we experienced, we don't seem to be the target clientele. They are wanting to be an upscale, in-spot for younger rich people that have moved into town. Peoria is in need of some nicer places but for a few reasons they missed the mark. We ordered two lunch entrees with a light lunch cocktail and it cost us over $100. The food is over priced for the quality, or lack of, you receive. The servers are trying way too hard to be high scale and they miss the mark, also. They have a lovely outdoor area, but I feel taken advantage of not appreciated for spending my hard-earned money there. Sadly, we won't return. read more

The Weekend at Bernie's salad is fresh and flavorful, the chef's butter board is indulgent and absolutely addictive, and the short rib ragu pappardelle might just be one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. The Food is outstanding, absolutely delicious. The Service is 5-star, we had an excellent server, Alli, a true delight. The Restaurant itself is very modern and pretty but the noise level is so distracting. We were in a booth and honestly, we could hardly carry on a conversation. It will only get better and better with time. The last thing i would expect in Peoria. I guess we just haven't had many great dining options in the NW valley until this place. Had the pleasure of dining at the Sparrow last night with friends for a birthday celebration... This is a beautiful new restaurant that has the most lovely decor that the moment you walk in, you know you are at a great restaurant...Plenty of indoor/outdoor comfortable seating... We sat outside and took advantage of this fabulous weather... Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming... Now for the epic food, We had a variety of cocktail's, all excellent, appetizers of a delicious bread board, meatballs and a amazing crab dip... You could not go wrong with any of the apps, all very tasty... We probably should have stopped but when we heard how yummy the burgers and short rib pasta was we knew we had to try, again, another perfect choice... Burger also came with a cute tin of hot crispy fries, delish!!! To complete the amazing meal, our sweet waitress brought out a complimentary slice of banana rum cake to celebrate our bday!!!
