Decent place for a cheap American style breakfast. I ordered a sausage omelet and my sausage was definitely a cut up hot dog, but other then that, the omelette was cooked perfectly and the hash browns were delicious. The cup of coffee I had tasted like warm water but my friends said the next pot was much better. My friends all loved their breakfast sandwiches and the blueberry pancake was great. Overall, decent food for the most part. I wouldn't come out of my way to come back but wouldn't be unhappy if I had to come here again. read more

went for breakfast and was not impressed...i ordered the veggie skillet with "American Fries" (basically home fries) with a basted egg and rye toast...the majority of the potatoes were burnt so i couldnt eat it...my brother-in-law ordered with Sparky's special with the big pancake, hashbrowns, eggs and hamburger patty as a substitution to bacon/sausage...the consistency of the pancake wasnt fluffy and more crumbly...the four of us had the overall agreement that all the food was under seasoned...we had to add salt/petter to everything...service was good...attentive to us and got all of our requests without having to ask twice (ie: hot sauce, napkins etc)....not a place we'll be checking out again... read more

We stopped by for breakfast while in Minnesota for a visit. With Celiac Disease, travel is always risky. A friendly, helpful waitress appeared, and when I asked if it was possible to get anything gluten free, she walked over to ask the cook. He didn't even think for a second, looked over and said "no". It was clear that the waitress wanted to help, but the question had been asked and answered. The rest of the family wanted to leave, but I assured them we'd find a bite later on. Everyone ordered, and the waitress still seemed concerned. Then something completely unexpected happened. The cook came to our table & sat down next to me. We spoke frankly for five full minutes. He asked what gluten free really means. What an opportunity. While chatting, I learned that the kitchen was equipped with three grills - one exclusively for hash browns and meats, another for all things eggy, and the third for the pancakes, French toast and the rest of all things gluten-y delicious. He to,d me he could cook my omelette in a fresh pan, reassured me that the hash browns were good to go. We all enjoyed our delicious breakfasts, and we left satisfied. The pancakes are definitely a side order.. if ordering with something get a small. The highlight here is the price very affordable. The food is decent and on par with its pricing. The kitchen is consistent and the food is comparable to Perkins or Denny's for example. With that said I've eaten here 5-10 times. This is a nice place to bring the kids or grand ma for breakfast or lunch. Great little breakfast spot off the beaten path with a blue collar feel and pretty low prices for large portions. I had the western skillet; it was a large platter worth of hash browns, eggs, ham, cheese, onions, and peppers with a side of toast--only $7.75. Add coffee to that and it was a fantastic, filling day starter for under $10 before tip. The waitress was nice and quick with any request. Best place in Anoka to get a filling and delicious breakfast for a great price! Hands down! I always get the supreme skillet and a bagel. They got what you'd expect for a local mom and pop breakfast joint. The french toast is great. Service is always pleasant. This is a great place if your looking for a hangover recovery meal as well. Me and my buddies used to frequent it in high school and still do now that were in college. There's a lot of blue hairs that frequent the place just a heads up but it doesn't make it seem like a retirement home tho. They have an upstairs but I've never been up there. read more

The supreme omelette was good as well, but we weren't impressed with the pancakes; way too salty for our taste. Today my girlfriend and I went in to sparkys at 8:30. Sat at a table in the eye sight of the register. We sat there for at least 7 minutes. Never acknowledged once beside my making eye contact with every one of the 5 servers within those 7 minutes. The place was not packed as usual (yes we ARE semi-regulars). Awesome home cooked food! Nothing fancy... and that's the way I like it! I love our little home town diner!! They have a Military day every week where Military past and present get a discount... I love that! Not too many places treat our Military like that. The only thing I would change is some of the wait staff. There are a few that are rude sometimes and not very attentive, especially when there's only 2 tables of people. I'll still go back though and support such a great gem in our city! read more

I had high hopes that I was taking my sweetie to our new breakfast "go to" place this morning. I mean, how can you screw up a breakfast? Here's how. If I get eggs over easy my hash browns need to be crispy, so I asked for "extra crispy". They were so undercooked they were still cold. To me, that's inedible so I dove into the pancake. 1st bite, what? Is this some kind of new savory thing? Not enough syrup? No, just extremely salty. Maybe somebody mixed up the salt with the sugar today as a Valentine prank, but the ONLY reason I ate most of it was because I was hungry.
