Find them in Yelp this afternoon and thought it was worth a drive, as we couldn't decide where to have dinner. The place right on Hwy22 just north of Montello is fantastic. Plenty of seating, large menu and some of the lowest prices anywhere in the area. Wife had eggs with ham and hash browns with toast. Had enough food to have breakfast tomorrow. I had egg with bacon, hash browns and toast, delicious! We will definitely be back and now have a place when we can't think of anywhere to go Also have a rewards club that will give you back a $20 gift card after 10 visits of $15 or more read more

Sparks Grill - Sitting on our table - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Montello, Wisconsin

The service was terrible. Several tables that were seated after us got menus and their orders taken before us. I had to go to the cashier to ask for service. The ham , eggs and hashbrowns were mediocre at best and there was a hair on my eggs. When paying the cashier said that there was nothing she could do about it. I paid and left without tipping the waitress for her terrible service. I hadn't been there for over a year and I won't be going back. I gave one star because it wouldn't let me leave zero. It used to be a great place for breakfast but their standards have really slipped. Too many restaurants get complacent after years in business. There are many restaurant options nearby. I suggest that you give the others a try. read more

Great food, Great service, Great prices Great place to eat breakfast of lunch when in Montello.

Today was my first time going to this restaurant and will never go back. Our waitress was the only good thing about the restaurant. Went there with friends and waited a very long time to get our food and it wasn't even good. I had eggs Benedict and couldn't even cut through the English muffin with a steak knife. It was soaked in some kind of grease and stiff. My bacon had more fat than meat and it was so greasy, I put it on my napkin and it soaked right through it. My friend ordered pancakes and they came out so thin they were crunchy. My friend ordered polish sausage and the first plate they were practically burnt so he gets another one almost immediately and they were cold on the inside. My friend went and talked to the manager about our experience and the manager gave him attitude and didn't care about what happened. We will never go there again!! Don't recommend this place at all!! read more

Sparks Omelet is amazing and service was great with the decor being really neat and having a firefighter in the lot

We were meeting up with family and wanted to grab breakfast at a halfway point for both of us, which was Montello. We decided on Sparks Grill and really enjoyed our experience! It is off the beaten path and not by anything else. You'll notice as you walk in that they only accept cash or check. But they do have an ATM on site if you happen to be like me, and never carry cash. The inside is a very nostalgic feel with a counter and lots of seating. The kitchen area is actually right behind the counter seating, which is pretty cool. The price point is pretty standard, but the food was all homemade and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be making this our regular "meet up" spot! read more

My sister lives in Montello (population 1448), and it's a cute little town with a great "hole in the wall" restaurant. When visiting from Texas, she brought me here for a breakfast. YUMMY! They have a huge menu and seems like everything on it is good. The place was hopping on a Friday mid-morning. Great food, fast & friendly staff, and the price was right. read more

Prices are getting crazy. Hashbrowns are always under done, don't know what over medium means and here's the kicker...side of hash...$8.30. For a SIDE!( Which was 80%hashbrowns) NOPE NOPE NOPE . Much better down the road in Harrisville. read more

Great atmosphere, friendly faces, best breakfast around, and FAST! Always hot, delicious, and worth it!

Sparks Grill is my favorite breakfast and lunch restaurant in all of Marquette County, WI. Once again I had a wonderful brunch at Sparks, but this time I'm going to tell you about it. I am a fanatic about corned beef hash. Not the greasy stuff out of the Hormel can, I'm talking about the real deal, HOMEMADE corned beef hash. Its meaty, it has just the right amount of hash browns and onions in it and its fried up to perfection. ((Hint: sit at the counter and you can watch your breakfast or lunch being made!)) The owner is a young gentleman who runs an excellent restaurant, the service is great and was provided by a cheerful waitress and your order comes out quickly. What more could you ask for? Do yourself a favor, go to Sparks Grill and try the corned beef hash! You'll be glad you did.... read more

Disappointing under new ownership. The old Sparks was an amazing well oiled machine with great food and top notch service. New ownership, not so much. Hair in our food today and as I look over at the grill both gentlemen with long hair and one with a beard and no hair nets. Wonder if that meets code. Interior was clean and orderly. Waitress was pretty much non-existant. No refills and had to beg for the check. Food was average, we both had hamburgers but nothing special about them. They have switched to battered french fries which was very disappointing for us. Not sure what is so hard about a great hamburger, that is what restaurants are judged by. What was once a bright spot in Montello is now just another restaurant. read more

Was recommended by some guys at the golf course. Stopped in for a quick breakfast today Saturday around 10:00am place was packed but found a spot at the counter. Waited on within a minute ordered Sparks omelette was in front of me in less than 8 minutes! Delicious with red sauce & jalapeños Filled my coffee again and used restroom which was clean, had soap and real paper towels Got my check and was out of there in 25 minutes even though most tables were full Will definitely be back next time in area read more

Tasteless food, terrible service, the waitress never came back after dropping off the food. I had a different server get me a refill on my drink. Waved the waitress down for our bill and told her the food was bad. She did nothing to correct it. read more

Stopped for breakfast this morning at this gem. First time here and was very impressed. The staff for were great with a small twist of get error.done attitude. Had a table Nazi and everything which added humor to our breakfast. I ordered the corn beef hash and eggs. It was so good it had big chunks of corn beef and was fried to perfection. My hubby had the ham and eggs, again cut off the bone large chunks of ham. Everything is made from scratch which proves my point that if you make food from scratch and it is good food you will be a success. They were busy but got people in and out in a timely manner. Will be back read more

Love this place! Great diner experience. Food is cooked perfectly every time. Great staff. Family owned a run. We vacation here in the fall and always eat here while in town. Coffee is surprisingly great! They don't take debit or credit so bring cash! Breakfast here is the best. Watching the line cooks at work is fun. It's a true talent they have, especially when it's busy. Stop in! read more

Stopped here as a place to meet friends from another area. One of few places in town that was open for dining. What a pleasant surprise. Excellent service and very friendly. Great menu choices. Food was excellent. Will certainly stop in here again when in the area. We now have a new meeting spot when driving from Wausau. read more

Obviously not a five star restaurant, but for a small cafe in a little town, I would consider it five stars. All wait staff was friendly, and the service was fast. Food came out quick, and was delicious. Cooks were tearing it up on the griddle. Coffee tasted maybe a bit burnt but no biggie. Overall, would recommend! read more

Went to this place with many recommendations so my hopes were high. Went for breakfast. They have on the menu how everything is homemade. The pancakes were dry and gritty. The waitress said, they are not buttermilk pancakes. I am not sure what they were, but terrible! The potatoes that came with our eggs were lukewarm. And the gravy that was on my chicken fried steak was chalkey. The chicken fried steak tasted like dog food. Definitely a frozen item fried up. Won't be back. read more

Was on vacation for Memorial Day Weekend. Ended up taking a road trip from Fremont to Wautoma to Princeton. A friend recommended Sparks as he knew we'd be passing by. Parking lot was overflowing - but we found two open spots at the counter. After one server took our order, another stopped by to ask if we needed any help. A few minutes later there was a line in the foyer and out the door of people waiting for tables. Cooks are visible so you can watch your food prepared. It was quite the operation! One guy was just cooking bacon. Supplies being constantly delivered from the back area. Somebody else was assembling the orders and calling out for pick-up. I imagine there are military encampments that don't work together this efficiently. It was standard fair breakfast - but the rhubarb crisp we had after was outstanding. 10/10 would go again. Worth noting - cash only - no cards. read more

Found a long hair in my eggs Benedict and I returned it back to the counter and no I'm sorry just I'll make you another one and that was it.. not to mention everything was "up .50 cents more" hand written for ? Terrible service read more

The place is busy and you need cash to pay. For being one of the only options besides the buffet it was pretty good. They don't have sour dough as an option for toast. The food overall was good and give it a chance, it's decent but not the worlds best. Only 4 stars for no sour dough. read more

The food was great. Service was fast. The no frills menu is extensive. The theme is based on fire departments, hence the name, Sparks Grill. We were there on a very busy Sunday morning with about 16 family members altogether. The wait staff were so friendly even in the crush and rush of so many people. There was a bit of a waiting line but it's worth it if you have the time. read more

Excellent food and fast service. Never have to wait too long for your order. We always stop here on our way to and from the cabin!

Stopped in here for the first time today while traveling. Food was quick and good! I had a bacon cheeseburger and a bowl of chili. My partner had mushroom bacon cheeseburger and fries. Onion strings as appetizer. Burgers were juicy, buns were fresh. Watched them making out food right in front of us as the grill is out front. It's true what is written on their menu, it's a "well oiled machine ". read more

Easily the most delicious cheeseburger I've had. I ate there about a week ago and I still thinking about it. My wife got an omelette that she says was very good too. Prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere made us feel comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. read more

This review is from 10/2019 and my comments about Sparks Grill were added to the bottom of a review of the Pioneer Restaurant in Westfield, WI. Just wanted to be sure Sparks Grill got the kuddos they deserve for great food and great service -- LOVE THIS PLACE! Note: be sure to bring cash as they don't take debit or credit card: "HIGHLY RECOMMEND SPARKS GRILL - they let you eat in peace, wait staff members are incredibly friendly, always have a smile on their faces and make you feel like family, prices are reasonable for honest to goodness great food. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. This is our family's new breakfast/brunch location going forward. And the kicker... they don't seem to care what color you are - feels like everyone is welcome". read more

Best breakfast in town!! My husband and I have been here many times!! Breakfast is delicious every time. Fast service great prices and Jackie!!!! Jackie, the hostess, is a hoot- she is efficient and gets folks in and out quick. There was a waiting line out the door today so if she saw you were done and lingering you got told you gotta go- only Jackie could get away with doing this and not angering the customers- she is a riot and we've warmed to her crazy sense of humor. If she weren't there we'd be disappointed- you've gottta go to know what I mean. Look forward to eating here and seeing Jackie every season! (We have a seasonal camper close by). Would highly recommend!! read more
