5 different oyster crackers to choose from. Free!

I occasionally drive through this little town of Montello and I've always noticed this little soup place and wanted to stop. Unfortunately it was never at lunchtime. Well, today I finally made it! I love soup and this place doesn't disappoint. Today they had 5 to choose from. Soup comes in three sizes, cup, bowl and lg bowl (which Hass to be a pale because the bowl is huge!) I got the regular "bowl" and it was huge, definitely a meal in itself. You can also order soup in a bread bowl. As I looked around the room at other people's meals, I found myself wishing I lived near here so I could be a regular! The salads are gigantic, so are the subs. I was really impressed with today's special, it was chicken Alfredo in a bread bowl. Looked spectacular... might have to find my way back to try that one. As for me, I ordered a bowl of cheeseburger soup and a Reuben. Couldn't finish it all. They have a table with a bunch of different flavors of oyster crackers. Help yourself dispensers, all included with your soup. I'm sure if you're a local you know about this place. But if you're driving through or here vacationing, you need to give this down-home soup and sandwich business a try. People who work there are really friendly, and I was impressed that all three of them made it to my table during my meal to ask me how things were going. They all seemed really appreciative for everybody's business. Occasionally drive through this little town of Montello

    So many sandwiches... And shuffleboard.

Oyster Crackers is a great stop when diving up or down I39 in Wisconsin. Montello is pretty close by. Every day, the very friendly owners prepare fresh soups, sandwiches, and desserts. There are always gluten-free options. It was an overcast day, so I got the Chili. I helped myself to some garlic pepper oyster crackers to pair with it. As expected in Wisconsin, the chili was a Midwestern preparation, not spicy and with a touch of sweetness. It was very tasty, having black beans and ground beef in it. The Cordon Bleu soup was gluten-free, had a great mix of chopped chicken, ham, potato, and other veg in a creamy broth. We could have had a flight of soups. The sandwiches that walked by looked beautiful, but we kept it lighter since we had miles to go yet. The atmosphere was fun and quirky. Order at the counter and pay cash. Check out the extensive sandwich menu on the big wall blackboard and all the humorous sandwich pictures/art. Play some shuffleboard too while waiting for your blackberry and strawberry cream cake.

Yelp guided me here one day. Far from my home, weary from work and hungry, I wandered in to an inviting scene. Quaint place with a lot of personality. Local treats and wares for sale all over. Large selection of handcrafted sodas and a gourmet oyster cracker bar! Now to the food. On one wall there is a giant handwritten chalkboard menu with quit an eclectic selection of classic and a few little more gourmet options. Wraps, sandwiches and handmade soups! I had the spicy honey chicken wrap (amazingly delicious) and some chicken gnocchi soup (somehow even better than the sandwich). Friendly staff, reasonable prices make this place a must visit spot! And perhaps the best feature of this place, is their pay it forward wall. You can make a cash donation for someone to use in the future and add it to an envelope on the wall. What a great community charity feature!

I was driving through Montello at lunchtime and decided to see what this town had for restaurants. I walked into Oyster Crackers and it was packed! Luckily for me, there was one table left. I ordered the Muffaletta. It was made from scratch and delicious! The ladies that run this place know lots of the regulars by name. They made sure to greet us newcomers as if we were friends as well. The interior is cute cute cute! Small town life warms the heart. This is the place to be if you need a good lunch while in Montello!

Food was good. Disappointed that employees were not wearing masks given the high COVID numbers currently in WI.

Just a fantastic restaurant. The meatloaf sandwich (I got jalapeño) was fantastic. You must go here if you are eating in Montello.

I went with a spicy chorizo soup, which was delicious, paired with with the Pesto Mozzarella "Sammich" - fresh Mozzarella, Pesto, Heirloom Tomato, Baby Spring Lettuce, and Balsamic Glaze on a Toasted French Roll. It came with a side of veggies and dip. I grabbed a seat at the counter overlooking the street and they brought out my food as soon as it was ready. Everything was warm, the portions were generous (I took half of my sandwich home), and the food was delicious! The prices are on the higher side, but you're getting generous portion sizes and high quality ingredients. I stuck with water but there is a nice selection of beverages and some local treats for dessert available. They also have prepackaged soups in a cooler with a variety of sizes and flavors available to take to go. I'll be back to try a flight of soups or another tasty soup & sammie combo!

It came out with nicely salted butter for the soft bread served on the side. For soups I got a dill tomato, curry lentil, hatch black bean, and cream of mushroom. The dill tomato was my favorite, I may try to recreate this at home since I am not from the area. The curry lentil was very filling and rich. The hatch black bean soup was something different to try- I ended up really liking it. Lastly, the cream of mushroom soup was not my favorite. It felt very plain and the mushrooms were cut into slices, I think I prefer more of a chopped or slivered mushroom. They have great natural lighting and plenty of seating. I sat and studied at one of the tables for a while.

I ordered the Garlic Pesto Italiano and a small bowl of the Supreme Pizza soup. The soup definitely tasted like pizza and some of the ingredients were more prevalent than others, like large chunks of tomato and the cheese and black olive they put on top. It would have been nice to have just a little bit more sausage in it, but it was still a very good soup as is. I'm so glad I came for the Garlic Pesto Italiano sandwich. All of the components shined without one masking the others. It's a shame that this is only a monthly special and not a regular menu item. The place isnt very large inside with only a few small tables and I chose to sit at the closest one to the register and put a table between myself and another couple that was already eating. No one else came in until I left, so it was a little awkward sitting there and eating while the employee at the register just stood there and watched, waiting for more customers to come in instead of finding something to do. She seemed young and possibly relatively new based on another employee giving her tips on how to look up item descriptions in their register, so I assume that's not a typical problem they have and more of a one off.
