I love this place! Their potato pancakes are just the best. Great diner experience, with nice conversations with the staff.

Their daily specials are generally inventive like Strawberry Rhubarb Fat French Toast, Pot Roast Omelette, Beet Panini, etc. They usually have equally interesting drink options such as the caramel apple latte, which was divine. They also are a full fledged bake shop, making all of their breads and cakes and pastries in house. All of it is worth checking out. Here's a place with a commitment to super high quality, better than average cafe fare, at a good price and friendly service. I always stop here whenever I go into upper WI to fish.

We arrived around 9 am on a Wednesday and it was very busy--they had already sold out of one of the breakfast specials. That said, we were still seated right away and had water and our chosen beverages in front of us in a jiffy (and my coffee was topped off regularly). Dawn was our server and she was very pleasant and helpful when I had a question about the menu. My guy had two blueberry pancakes with bacon, and I had biscuits & gravy with hash browns. The pancakes were fluffy and satisfying, and the biscuits & gravy were packed full of flavor. LFG's breakfast was delicious, and a great price!

Usually, I hit…read moreWautoma at odd times when either Milty-Wilty is closed or stopping there just isn't called for. Today, the time was right and so was the appetite! Finally! This is an old-school drive-in and diner. Under the fabulous neon signage are two walk-up service windows with an old-school, giant ice cream cone in the display window. The service windows each have a laminated menu with a myriad of choices. While you're waiting for your order, check out the museum, in the north display window, of past Milty-Wilty equipment. You'll see Hamilton-Beach malt mixers and a dispenser, and a Carnation malt tin. On the floor is an old-style root beer barrel tapper with an antique cash register on top of it. You might opt to step to the inside dining room. There is a self-service counter, not unlike the outside windows. Once your order is placed, enjoy the '50s decor and memorabilia, with black and white checkerboard ceramic wall tiles (and floor tiles, too!) along with bright colors, a porcelain ceiling, old 45s, chrome-and-vinyl dinette tables. Don't let the decor fool you, the food is great, too and the prices are more than reasonable, too. It's south of Wautoma, on the west side of the highway, just north of the 73-21 split. Whether you're on your way up north, or on your way home, or you live in the Wautoma area, drop into Milty-Wilty and see what I mean. You could also play some miniature golf or hit a bucket of balls on the driving range. Tips: there is a canopy area with pull up menus but there doesn't appear to be car hop service. Milty-Wilty is cash only. Their neon signage is artwork, hopefully, you'll see them at night.

The ladies' room was very clean and nicely decorated, as well. It was seat-yourself, and my party of 3 was able to get a table right away on a September Sunday morning. I imagine that in the summer, this place is a nice mix of local regulars and lake people. We were greeted right away and all of the staff were friendly and attentive. It looked like they were all hard at work, but also stopped to chat with people and greeted regulars warmly when they came in. I'm pretty sure that even Kelley T. herself came around to talk to us at one point! The food is amazing and is what you should expect from a down-home, Midwest, small town diner. We had breakfast and the portions were huge, affordable, and delicious. Even the plain toast was amazing! The request for crispy bacon was honored, and the pancakes were delicious! They have Pepsi products, including Diet Mountain Dew (which is always a plus for me!) , and sugar free syrup on request. There were also lots of baked goods and what looked like pie and dessert choices in the cooler and on the counter, which looked amazing but we didn't try this time. The whole experience was great! You could tell that everything is made with love. I can't wait to go back and try the lunch menu!
