Friday fish fry was average at best. Had the perch and it tasted fishy, large pieces so I know it was ocean perch or farm raised fish. I don't believe this place could possibly be a genuine supper club... the dishes to me seemed to be all frozen. Everyone at our table was either missing something or something was wrong with the food. The burger we got was so overcooked and dry, the shrimp alfredo seemed to be box noodles and canned sauce with a few shrimp. The shrimp were so small they seemed to also be frozen. Prime rib came out cold, needing Aju to warm it up. If you are making the drive or visiting out of town, try a different place! read more

Stopped at Granite Falls Supper club in Montello for breakfast today as my Dad was visiting me he had the country fried steak and american fries his plate was so full he didn't know where to start potatoes are freshly cut and you can tell. I had eggs and hash browns everything was delicious and service was great. I recommend giving them a try for breakfast or lunch as I will be making this my new breakfast place. Also the price is very reasonable. Can't wait till they start serving dinner. Happy to see it's under new ownership. read more

We have been to 32 supper clubs now, and we have ranked this place #32. I called and made a reservation for Sunday. Well, we decided to come Saturday instead. I tried calling seven different times over an hour and a half., with the phone just ringing every time. But we still drove the hour and a half hike. So when we arrived, I explained the situation and the host was full of excuses, "there are lots of phones lines and I'm not sure which phone I need to answer." Not once was there a, "I'm sorry, yes we can get you switched." She just told us there would be a 15-20 minute wait now because they had people walk in. Then I realized they literally have 7 tables and a bar area. We were told to wait in a side room and someone would come and get our drink order. We never had anyone come until we prompted, and no one ever gave us menus. We brought our 10 month old with us, because we thought, "oh we are getting there at 4:30, that's plenty early enough." We were waiting 30 minutes before the host came and told us our wait is now an hour. Well an hour turned into an hour and 45 minutes before we even got the option to even get our order taken and just get it going. When we sat, we were surprised that for 5 people, we got 4 cracker packs and never offered any refills on anything. The salads were warm and I didn't even finish it, which is saying something since we waited so long. 4 of us got our food, but my husband ordered scallops and surprisingly, he waited forever for them. They don't take long to cook, so I'm not sure what happened. We had to flag down a random worker to go and check on what the hold up was. They returned sayings "the chef is still cooking them." Uh, okay? My chicken pasta was IMPOSSIBLE to eat! The sauce was so runny and they served it in such a deep bowl (that anytime you tried to get any, it slipped off before you could take a bite. But the chicken was SO CHEWY, I couldn't even finish the first piece. When the server asked how things were, I was honest. She was taken aback, and just said that's unfortunate. Then I found out that another in our party had hair in their food! And at the end, after EVERYTHING we dealt with, they offered us a $10 credit. Awful. We had a group of 25. We waited forever. They only make 4 people's food at a time. My Philly cheese steak sandwich was the pitts:( all French bread, zero meat. I waited to eat all day an what a big disappointment. Their fries were soggy an terrible. One waitress. No refills on sodas. She never checked on us. Disappeared forever. People ordered lettuce & tomato on their burgers, didn't get it. The pickle spears you get with your meal were out. You also get a stale chocolate chip cookie. It was 2 friends birthday's. We got quesadillas that's part of their appetizer and the price ranges $8-$14 and which we didn't know until we got our bill that adding meat was $5 on top. So $16. These quesadillas were like your nephew would toss shredded cheese on a flour tortilla and microwave it and toss canned chicken inside. Very disappointing. Went on a Friday night at 6, no wait, plenty of empty tables. In hindsight, this was the first sign. Had to walk through part of kitchen to get to our table in second dining room. I ordered beer batter cod, hubby got the 6 deep fried shrimp. Small relish tray was brought to the table but was pretty sparse. 3 black olives, 2 drenched carrots, 2 breadstick packs, and a scoop of cheese spread, that tasted a little off. Choice of soup or salad. I chose the prime rib soup. It was the bottom of the barrel, very creamy and beef was shredded. Prime? I think not. Cod was meh, little flavor. shrimp was large and tasty.pricey at $31 for 6 shrimp. Cod price was good, $15 for 3 large pieces, with choice of potato. Didn't get my drink until after meal came, then was an apple old fashioned instead of regular. By now we were done eating so swapped drink for grasshopper. Another disappointment. It was a pre made concoction, 3 scoops of grasshopper frozen drink possibly made with cool whip, which I am allergic to. Not a drink but dessert to eat with spoon. Pricey and food underwhelming. Will stick to Cimaroli's and won't be back. read more

We stopped for dinner on a Thursday evening. Double bubble at the bar was a plus. Drinks were good and the bartender was friendly. We were seated by our server Elizabeth. Very friendly young woman as well. We had the fish special, 2 pieces of fish and 3 shrimp. The waitress said it was $13.00, wow what a deal. Our friend had a rib eye. The food was great, garden salad with house made dressing. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good. When the bill came we were kind of surprised that the fish dinner was $13.00 but the 3 shrimp were + $9.99 each. Not a huge problem but ... Service was great food very good too. First of all, the people claiming to be foodies & giving 5 stars should have their Yelp license revoked. Lets be honest here people, this is the "nice spendy" place in town where locals come for special occasions because they've never had any better. Granted, this review is NOT for Friday stuff your face night- this is a midweek standard meal occasion. Outrageous prices for less than mediocre food. My 6 pieces of overcooked shrimp & bland potatoes swimming in cream were nowhere near worth $18. But wait! What about the salad bar? Chicken & rice or dill pickle soup?? Bagged iceberg lettuce, whole radishes, or chopped white onion? Bare minimum in offerings that were never refilled while we were there (6-7 pm would seem prime time but this is rural WI so maybe we should be in the bar by now??). These are obviously not "salad" people- it's something to pass the time while you wait for your real food. Hey don't forget the dessert bar! So exciting. Who wouldn't love a church potluck offering of store bought boxed choices. Actually, the 9X13 powdered cheesecake with canned cherries almost reminded me of my 70's childhood but even mom (& jello) managed to make something edible- this was just awful. The server seemed about excited to be there as we were. Had to literally tackle her to get another round of beers. The 2 stars given were because of reasonably priced beers. The only highlight of the evening. Honestly, I appreciate old school Americana & kitchsy decor as much as the next person- but I would have appreciated an honest review of what this place had to offer. Huge New Years Eve disappointment. Two hour and 30 minute wait to get food after being seated. Bused our own table. Were given excuse that kitchen grill is too small to handle restaurant dinner orders. We finally asked for our dinners to go. Waitress refused. Extremely pricey for such poor service. Truly want to support local business but will never go back. We made recommendations for this restaurant for a very special evening for our friends and family. We were treated terribly. Had the owner stepped up to offer apology instead of snarky comments we would have been more understanding. Our guests were upset, were disrespected by staff. When food finally arrived, on!y half out group was served. Literally half the table received their bill while the other half was being served. Clearly owner does not need our business. read more

Decided to go there for my birthday dinner. Heard it was expensive but I don't mind paying a higher price if it is worth it. Cocktails were wonderful, seafood chowder and salad excellent, potaoes so so. My husband loaded potatoes...undercooked and fatty bacon and not much for toppings. My jumbo shrimp dinner listed at 37.00 were excellent, my husbands lobster tail listed at $30 was slightly overcooked. When our bill came the shrimp was only 31.oo but we were charged 55.oo for the lobster! When we questioned it we were rudely told the price they paid had gone up, which we understood but then told us they couldnt afford to reprint menus everytime prices went up also understood but we felt they could have been informed us when we ordered instead which they did not. The woman we dealt with(we think an owner) extremely rude and obnoxious, the whole time we were eating she was sitting at the table with other customers next to us talking very loudly. Best place to dine in Montello! We were visiting Montello for a get away and had a wonderful meal at Granite Falls Supper Club. Small details like homemade croutons, relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff made it special. We had a very good meal at an affordable price. The brandy old fashion with whiskey cherries is delicious! The bartender and owner were delightful and made us feel right at home. This was a first time visit for myself, my brother and our two lovely ladies. We were looking for a fish fry in Montello and someone recommend this place. So we thoufght we'd give it a try. As Melanie Z stated it's ok, it was very clean and possessed that old charming Wisconsin supper club feel. However the service was lacking, we all ordered the all you can eat ribs, chicken, and fish buffet. The ribs weren't all that great, the chicken was my favorite of the three. It was broasted and was very juicy. The fish pieces were tiny and left a lot to be desired. We arrived at 7 pm on Friday and it was somewhat busy, they had room for us. The price was $10.95 per person for the buffet, keep in mind they bring the foot to you so you can choose certain pieces of chicken. With 1 beer and 3 soda plus dinners it was $55, not bad for 4 people to eat in my opinion. read more

I wanted to like Granite Falls Supper Club, I really did, but it just wasn't in the cards. On the plus side, this supper club is in cute little downtown Montello, and the staff there are very friendly. On the negative side: the food. The salad bar was unremarkable at best, iceberg lettuce and not-homemade dressing. The desserts on the bar looked promising, like a spread at a church picnic, but was disappointing, like the spread at a church picnic (e.g.,the cheesecake bars were obviously a no-bake cheesecake mix you get at the grocery store, not homemade). As far as entrees, the meat was pretty dry, the mashed potatoes kinda gummy. I'm glad we went here for the experience, but if I'm wanting a supper club in the future, I'll definitely make my way out to Timbers on State Road 22 just north of town. read more

We recently stayed with my in-laws who live in the Montello area, and they recommended we all go here for dinner. As their guests, we wanted to buy them a nice dinner, so they, my husband, and our two girls (7 and 12) went on Saturday night. The street parking being full, we turned into the alley leading to the back parking lot. The place looked a total dump. The back entrance is wedged by a set of stairs that must lead up to an apartment above the restaurant. It's also where the staff takes their smoke breaks. Amused, I thought, Hey, all signs point to this being a typical up nort' dining experience: tasty, generous, and cheap. SO. WRONG. On ALL counts. We went for dinner, and you typically don't order a hamburger and fries at a supper club on a Saturday night. So anything that was an option on the menu started at $11.95 -- for the liver and onions. Next up the price range was broasted chicken, at $13.95. Everything else was $16.95 to $29.95. Ouch. This was not going to be cheap. That left tasty and generous. I ordered the chicken and fried shrimp at $16.95. After placing our order, the waitress directed us to the salad bar. Surveying the four (seemingly) mayo-based salads, I took a small spoon of what appeared to be crab salad. Then I took some iceberg that was obviously dumped from a bag, and surveyed my dressing choices: ranch or mystery red. After selecting ranch, I sprinkled a few bacos on. Voila. Fine dining in the sticks. On to the soup. The choices were BLT and Chicken Gumbo. I chose BLT, because, well, bacon. Getting back to my seat, I tasted the crab salad, and discovered it was some sort of weakly sweet white rice and pineapple concoction. WTH? Blech. My first thought was, between that and the chicken gumbo soup, they must have had a massive amount of white rice leftover from last night's offerings. On to the soup. Oh, the tragedy. I am certain that bacon never did anything to deserve that kind of treatment. The soup base was a salty, flavorless white goo, with exactly three ingredients: bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Oh, no, you say, they wouldn't have put actual lettuce in a soup, right?? You would be WRONG, my Yelpy friend. It was limp and slimy, swimming in the white goo with a few chunks of uncooked tomato and flecks of bacon. Buried to the axles in this meal, there was no choice but to go on to the main course. Surely there's only one way to go from here, right? Out came my 8-inch wide oval plate (read: freaking SMALL) with two anemic pieces of broasted chicken (thigh and leg, couldn't spring for white meat at $16.95), a saucer with a thick pasty puddle of salted MSG instant potatoes (aka "Garlic Mashed"), and..... wait for it....... THREE shrimp. Three. Three! For $16.95! Did I mention this was $16.95? At this point, I started feeling like I was missing something. Did a famous person once eat here, and that's how this place hadn't closed down? The far wall was tiled in mottled smoked mirrors, and cheap brass sconces dotted the walls. The chairs were rickety and sticky. The tablecloths were vinyl and the place mats were lacey-edged paper. Blinking, I looked around me at the other patrons, wondering if I'd suddenly lost all perspective, or perhaps was having a minor stroke or aneurysm that was making me see the concave thigh and midget chicken leg as smaller than they actually were. Or was the unwitting participant in a prank video. No, I was perfectly healthy and there were no hidden cameras. This was reality, at the ritziest supper club in Montello. I pictured all the prom dates who came here, all nervous, believing this was Fine Dining. To my amusement and disbelief was added a tiny flame of anger. But there was still the dessert buffet, I thought, and midwestern Lutheran values could not, would not permit that to be a disappointment such as these. There was a lot of desserts. At first glance, it looked to be the saving grace of the whole dismal meal. Tortes, pie, bars, cookies, etc, all homemade. I took little bits of lots of things. Key lime pie, lemon torte, pretzel torte, fudge brownie dessert square, chocolate mint square, and some tiny cookies that would have been at home on a Christmas tray. They ranked from omg-awful-spit-into-napkin to OK. Sigh. The only drinks ordered besides water were my girls' sodas. The waitress never refilled them. The rest of us split two glass carafes of ice water. Our bill, with a 15% tip (because our waitress, while not attentive, was friendly, and we are not a spiteful people), was $115. Four adults, two children, no appetizers, no alcohol, no steaks, no lobster, and soup with lettuce in it. And that was the first and last time I shall ever visit the Granite Falls Supper Club of Montello. read more

Everytime we're in town we come here for dinner. My favorite on Saturday night is the Fried lobster, garlic mashed potatoes, soup, salad bar, and dessert bar. A great place to enjoy a good steak or seafood meal. They also have a nice soup and salad bar and a amazing sweets table for desert. I would also recommend going here for a new years eve meal. Every time we are in Montello on the weekends, I tell my boyfriend we need to go there! The soups are homemade, and you can taste it! The bread is homemade, the numerous desserts are homemade, and it's the traditional Wisconsin Supper Club that knows how to make a true Old Fashion! They have the soup and salad bar just like the true Wisconsin super clubs, and they make some really good food! I know when we go there, we leave full and really happy! read more

Granite Supper Club is ok. I don't think the food is anything to brag about. Its ok I love that they have a salad bar and dessert bar with your dinners. I'm a huge salad bar fan because I love loading up with lots of veggies before my meals so its nice for that. read more
