We stopped there today on a Sunday after visiting the awesome Shamba Safari outside Neshkoro. The food was spectacular and plentiful! The gyro plate my daughter in law ordered had the best gyro meat I have EVER tasted. She ate her fill and still had enough for another meal. My chicken tenders were huge and so good. The serving staff/bartenders were super friendly, busy, and very accommodating. The prices were very reasonable. I can't wait to go there again! We both ordered a gyro, as gyros were what the place was known for and rated high on the menu. The meat was not in strips, but rather curled fatty pieces resembling sausage. The meat was soft and chewy; the texture was not appealing. I did hear the cook ask the bartender who it was that ordered the gyros prior to preparing our food. I can't help but wonder why. Did he serve us the fallen scraps since he did not know us? I did not eat the meat, and scraped it off the pita. I did eat the onions, tomatoes, sauce and fries. read more

I wanted to celebrate my birthday by enjoying a pizza. So after several recommendations from some local folks I took a chance on River's Edge. After consulting with Becky at River's Edge, I decided on their 16 inch pizza. When I picked up my pizza, I stated I would return to give feedback on my order. In the end, this thin crust pizza was overloaded with cheese and virtually zero pizza sauce. The whole pizza ate super dry! The balance of ingredients was way off. So I returned the very next day to express my disappointment with the pizza. Becky informed me I should speak my concerns directly to the on-duty manager. As I attempted to describe my experience with the young female manager, she just ignored my issue with the pizza. Felt that I was bothering her and what she was doing. The only feedback I received from this manager was, "I was not here, and I didn't see your pizza." Not even one apologetic word was spoken. There will be no more visits to this establishment, and no recommendations will be given. read more

We called in a pickup order of several burgers. When we went to pick it up the order was just getting finished but we decided to stay for a quick drink. Staff was pretty nice and the drink prices were reasonable. I thought the burger was really good although the bacon could have been cooked longer. Same thing with the fries. My brother said the burgers were over cooked but I prefer them that way. I've heard rumor that their pizza is really good so I'll have to go back and try it. read more

I've heard for years that Jeff's has awesome pizza but had never stopped in as we like another place in town. Different than what we are used to but really good and tasty. Enough cheese but not too much. Took it to go and it stayed crispy for a good hour. Will definitely go back. Need to try some of the other menu items. read more

Had the 12" Belly Buster all meat pizza with tomatoes and black olives. A Corona Extra is also always on my list when I have pizza and here is no exception. This is the second time we have stopped here and eaten and both time we sat outside on the patio that overlooks the river. Both times we have eaten here there has been fishing going on and this time the young man that was fishing caught several small mouth bass. The service here is great. The noise level outside is really low so it's nice and quiet. The umbrella kept the sun off, and we boxed up the leftovers and brought them home to eat later. I don't do that with average pizza. Anyway, if you get out this way, stop and have a bite. read more

I have to say that out of my self imposed guilt I chose to eat here. I walked in and hoped to just get a quick glance at the menu only to be greeted by the friendly staff. I'm not from Wisconsin nor do I really ever plan on returning, but this place surprised me completely. I didn't expect much in a town the size of this. But Jeff's just has that down home atmosphere. Their menu could certainly elaborate more about what you were ordering and the bar that I ate at was at a 30 degree angle, but hey it makes for some fun times. Considering my general lack of knowledge when it comes to cuisine in this part of the country I took the bartenders suggestion and went with the pizza. To be precise it was an onion, pepperoni, mushroom, and black olive pizza, and it was exactly what I had wanted. For a sort of dive style place this pizza was down right artisan. OK so I've had better, but this was certainly not lacking. I left wishing I had the appetite to finish it all. For an appetizer I chose the cheese curds, fried of course, and I could have done without them. I mean you have to try the cheese curds when in Wisconsin right? To be fair my server wasn't to keen on them. He seemed to think they were alright but he still suggested trying fresh cheese curds. I would certainly recommend the home made potato chips with sour cream. They make them right then so they are served still piping hot. The one thing that really got me was their coasters. Yep that's right the coasters. They were for Shiner black lager, one of my favorite Texas beers, not to mention I'm from Texas, but no one in the bar knew what it was at all! They said they thought it was booze....I guess that's northern for whisky? They didn't even have any local or Wisconsin made beers! They advertise a beer garden but no local beers. I was blown away to say the least, but it wasn't a bad experience at all. There are some things I'd change but in a small town how elaborate can you really get. All in all I'd suggest Jeff's to anyone visiting, but really how many people come to Montello, WI. Anyways, great pizza, and they sure can make a stellar whisky and coke. I wen't there the next three nights and sure enough on the last night of my stay I decided to branch out and I was wishing the entire time that I had finished it at Jeff's instead. read more

Quick review here..... If you want a great meal at a very very reasonable price, stop at Jeff's River Edge. Order a pizza with Canadian Bacon and onions....one of the best pizzas I had while in Wisconsin. Service was good, people were friendly. Do not expect anything fancy; it is not that type of place. We've been coming to Montello for years on vacation and this was our first time stopping at River's Edge and we will definitely be back! The service was great and the food was amazing. I can sincerely and honestly say Jeff's rivers edge is one of the best tasting pie's I've ever experienced. From the friendly lady who took my phone order to the prompt delivery man getting that tasty work of art to my hotel room was a meal i will never forget. My comfort was Jeff's rivers edge's priority. This is an excellent bar with amazing gyros. They come with so much meat that I couldn't even pick it up. I have never seen gyros this big. If you like all your food to be from the freezer, this is your place. Very sub-par. Got some poutine that had freezer fries that were baked and served with a powder gravy. Burgers were frozen. Prices are somewhat cheap, but that's all it has going for it. read more

I ordered a pizza from this local place. I specifically asked for pie cut, NOT the stupid little square cut that makes a huge mess. Guess what? That is right, it was square cut. I am surprised they were able to get the rest of the order right. What is the deal with places cutting pizza this way? Do they think making a mess out of your eating experience is fun? How hard is it to follow simple instructions? The worst part is I called back to complain and they really didnt care. Basically if I didnt like it, tough! Also the pizza is not that good. The crust was burned on the edges and mushy in the middle. Please take a class in Pizza Making 101. Your customers deserve it. read more

We have been vacationing in the Montello area for many years. I wish we would have discovered this great little place years earlier. We sat out on the patio by the river, quiet and peaceful. Our waitress could not have been more pleasant. We started with wine and draft beers (very reasonably priced) and the homemade chips appetizer. It was served with sour cream dipping sauce. Excellent. Our entrees were, 10 inch veggie pizza with sausage added, 12 inch thin crust sausage pizza, an Italian beef sandwich mozzarella and sweet peppers with a coleslaw side and a steak sandwich with mozzarella and more chips. All four of the meals were delicious. The service was great and the prices are modest. We certainly will come back. The owner wants to retire and has it up for sale so it's future is uncertain, but until then, I highly recommend you give it a try if you are in the area. read more

Was on a road trip in the Montello area, so after researching on places to stop for lunch, decided on Jeff's River Edge. They scored perfect in each of the 5 areas I assess when dining; 1 prices were competitive, 2 service was great, 3 environment was clean and comfortable, 4 quantity was plentiful and 5 quality was excellent. My wife and I each ordered the gyro sandwich and to compare with other restaurants I would have had to order the sandwich with extra meat to equal the one served here. Also what made the sandwich the best gyro I have ever had was they grilled the meat after they carved it off the spit. Not only will we dine here again when in the area, we will probably plan a road trip just to dine here which is a 40 minute drive for us. read more
