I first turned to Yelp to browse companies that focused on cleaning roofs, gutters and windows. I called around 10 companies that were given high marks on Yelp with only two companies calling me back eager to give me a bid (Sparkle Plus was one of them!). My first impression from the two was that Sparkle Plus simply seemed more professional, giving me a written bid via email. My gut instinct paid off. Kai did an amazing job on my dad's house! He was very enthusiastic, kind, and took lots of pride in his work which was awesome to see. He even took before and after photos of the roof! He hand cleaned all the moss off of the roof, cleaned all the gutters, and cleaned the inside and outside of the windows all for a very reasonable price. He even told me that the job took longer than he expected but stuck to his original quote (which took him all day). He even showed me a broken screen on one of the windows and repaired it for FREE! The wife and I bought a fixer upper last year. Well I didn't know the state of the gutters and we got some mud on some windows that were pretty high up. We called Kai for an estimate. I chose Sparkle Plus because of all the good reviews. I was a little wary. I mean ALL 5 star reviews??? But......OMG they were right. I asked for a quote from Kai and he was here within a couple of hours. We agreed on a reasonable price for the moss, gutters and windows. Not the cheapest--but a fair price. We agreed on a day and time. He even called me the day of the appointment to say he'd be a few minutes late. I mean.........it was just a few minutes. So I will also have to give Kai 5 stars. Wow, I don't know how Kai does it! He is responsive and prompt. He is professional. He is price-competitive. He does thorough, quality work. He is courteous and personable. Kai came over a week ago to fix a dangerous hanging gutter on our house and clean the rest. I had requested other bids earlier, but I waited a few days to be contacted by phone to make a later appointment to have someone come look at our house. Kai responded with a visit within hours of my bid request. He had another job to complete first, but he gave me a time to expect him, and he kept his word. We called him to schedule and he was full for over a week. We really wanted our windows cleaned before an event the following weekend and Kai was able to squeeze us in. I can't write a review of their work because they never showed up. They didn't call or email to let me know, they just didn't show up. I spent a lot of time removing plants, pictures, etc. from window sills and moving furniture away from the windows to make it easier for them. A terrific experience from this superior window service. Our house is extremely challenging -- huge three-story windows, difficult-to-reach areas, some tight spaces and some extremely vertiginous ones. Kai was thorough, fast, highly skilled, and nice. We just had Kai do a couple small jobs for us, and he did great work. He patched two holes in the drywall in our living room. He provided all the tools and the drywall, he even went to the hardware store to get us matching paint, which we thought we had but didn't. The wall looks great, you can't even tell where the holes were. Then he cleaned the gutters on our 2 story house, which were full of gunk. He staggered the work between the drywall repairs and the gutter cleaning to maximize his time and work efficiently. His communication via email and phone was professional and timely. Kai first cleaned the windows in my apartment in March and did a fantastic job. When it was time to have windows cleaned in my grandfather's house, I immediately called Kai. He's thorough, professional, responds quickly and does amazing work. My grandfather was 89 and I can't even guess how long it had been since the windows were cleaned. To say the windows were sparkling, is an understatement. Our entire family was shocked and impressed. Kai is very honest about estimate, and the gutter cleaning and repair are well done, saving me a lot of money otherwise I have to spend on replacement of large section of rusty gutter in the front of our house. Kai just spent the sunny afternoon with us and our basset hounds, Zelda and Suede. They enjoyed his attention as much as we are enjoying our beautiful clean windows. Kai went above and beyond in his attention to detail, and all windows were cleaned thoroughly. Kai was very friendly and very prompt about setting up appointments both for an estimate and for the actual cleaning. The water in the gutters was frozen at our original appointment time but he came back the same day when things had thawed out enough to do the cleaning, and allowed me to pay him by mail afterwards. You can get good discounts using Groupon or LivingSocial deals but you're probably getting what you pay for when you go with those companies. I read all the awesome reviews here on yelp and chose this company. How much I am regretting it. I wish I had just left my gutters and roof the way it was and not bothered trying to have Sparkle Plus clean them. I get an email reminder telling me that my appointment is for a Wednesday. I leave home unprepared on a Monday and then come back on the Monday to find dead leaves and branches all around the house. Not only were my plants and flowers broken because of the weight of the branches on them, my tomatoes and vegetables are damaged. The least they could have done is told me that they are not going to bother being careful with my plants and asked me to cover the plants and shown up on the right day. Maybe they do a decent job with window cleaning but I would definitely not recommend them for gutter or roof cleaning. read more

Kai did a great job on our rather challenging house. We hired him to do windows, gutters, and roof moss removal, and he was able to fully check out our house prior to quoting. His quote was very reasonable, but the job turned out to be more involved and time consuming than he had originally anticipated. But he never even hesitated to honor the original quote, which was much appreciated. The windows look amazing, including the added bonus of removing the moss that had grown on the bottom edges of our deck windows. He also made sure the screens were clean, which made a big difference too. He even thought to do our garage door windows. And most important to this arachnaphobe, he made an extra effort to remove as many spiderwebs and their white egg sacs that always are hiding in the corners of the window frames. I clean my gutters continuously throughout the year but also have gutter guards which clog the downspouts with pine needles causing extra weight in the gutters when there is a quick and heavy downpour. This extra water weight in the gutters caused several gutter spikes to come loose over the 20 years since we've owned our home. I have seen several fix-it videos on YouTube but did not want to take a chance doing the job myself. I saw Kai's excellent reviews on Yelp and thought I'd give him a chance at the job. I sent an email to him and explained the situation. He contacted me promptly with an estimate and when he could do the job. He also was kind enough to give me a time frame during the day so we could run errands before he came out to work which was much appreciated. Kai finished a job earlier than expected and called to ask if he could come by about an hour and a half earlier as scheduled. Of course, I said yes since we were at home. Kai not only repaired the loose spikes but also inspected all the other ones and made sure they were all tight and ready for the rainy season. Kai Chinn has excellent communication skills, is very punctual and the cost of this job was reasonable in my opinion.
