I hate to give them a bad review because Linda is super sweet. But, the fact is they messed up my wedding dress royally. Do NOT bring your wedding dress here to be clean! Consider yourself warned. I brought mine here because it was close to my house, not knowing that I probably should have done my research and called around to see which cleaners specializes in wedding dress. They did a bad job of repairing a 2" tear and weren't able to remove the dirt stains from my dress. To add injury to insult, there were a couple additional rips on the dress when I got it back! Rips that resulted from them drying cleaning my dress! I couldn't believe it! Linda said she was sorry, but didn't want to refund me my money nor did anything to alleviate the situation. I'm completely bummed. I had to take it to another cleaner to have it clean and press and repair again. If you decided to go with then, make sure you check your clothes before you pay. read more

I'm 24 years old and Sparkle was my first laundromat experience. Thank god for that. The first time I went in there, I put all my clothes into the biggest washer, ripped open a box of laundry detergent that I hilariously assumed contained Tide Balls, and spilled all of the powder on the floor. Then the owner came over and helped me replace the detergent (and told me the washer I chose was way bigger than I needed). Once I had the detergent ready to launch, I chucked it right into the washer on top of my clothes, once again thinking about all of my experience with Tide Ball laundry in the past. She corrected me and showed me how to properly load it into the box on top. I have been there since and she helped me with the change machine. Great service, the machines are reasonably priced and high quality. The place is just simple and gets the job done. Also, great parking outside on Balboa. Definitely recommend! read more

Best. Laundromat. Ever. The people who work there act like they know me and I've been a long time customer. Apparently, everyone says this place is the best laundromat. When I first moved to the outter richmond my sister said I have to go to this laundromat because it has such great reviews on yelp. Excuse me for being skeptical (I've never done coin laundry before) but now I realize why this place is so great. I love this place. I had never done coin laundry before. (My parents had always owned the machines, and I just moved out!) I was very nervous about washing my clothes in a public place. I mean, you're there with strangers who are going to see what you wear- including your underwear and bras! How awkward! (We live in a very judgemental world!) But I did it. Hooray. When I walked up to one of the machines, I was immediately greeted, and asked if I needed any help. Well, that certainly was nice of them. They showed me how to use the machines (even though I could figure it out from the instructions) and made sure that I knew I could go to them if I ever needed any help with any laundry services. The owners are really nice and very helpful. They always ask how you're doing and offer to help you in any way. The machines themselves could be better. The washing machine doesn't clean very well, as the cycle is very short. The dryer takes AGES. But it's the thing nearest to me and I go there on occasion, but like I said, it doesn't clean as well as a personal washing machine. read more

I love Sparkle. The owner, Linda, is an absolute sweetheart who makes an effort to learn everyone's name and who readily helps with any problem or question that comes up while she is working. Her husband is also extremely helpful during the hours he works at the laundromat as well. The place is very clean and the machines are well maintained and do an excellent job. This laundromat/dry cleaners is clean, the owner is very friendly and helpful. The prices are a little more expensive than other laundromats in the area. NOTE: The change machine only accepts $1, $5, and $10 bills. There is a lot of room to fold clothes, but not many forward loading machines. read more

I found this place through Yelp after being very disappointed with my previous dry cleaners (See my other dry cleaners review). I have to agree with the others that the people are friendly, remember you name and face, and they seem to even remember what kinds of clothing I bring it!! They also did a great job on clothing that I had taken to the previous cleaners where clothing had come back with stains, or the prior cleaners indicated that they could not be removed. The only drawback is that they only take cash. read more

This place is clean and most of the machines work so that is a plus but the people who work there don't wear masks even though there are signs all over telling people to wear masks. If you don't care about your own health, at least protect the health of your clientele. Or you won't have any. read more

Linda is THE BEST!!!!! She was extremely understanding about my environmental illness / fragrance reaction and went out of her way to help me. I'm fortunate to have a washer and dryer in my garage, but due to a mold problem needed to use a Laundromat. I've been to many over the past two years and Sparkle is very clean. Nice people come and go. The fragrance smell from all the - hate to say this people - toxic detergent! most people use to make their clothes smell "fresh" isn't as horrible in this place as others. They tend to keep the door open and that helps air the place out. Please folks... for the sake of your brain, lungs, headaches, skin, etc switch to FREE & CLEAR soaps. Make sure they don't have synthetic fragrances or even the word fragrance on the label - fragrance can be anything! No laws on the books for companies to list out and can be petroleum and other bad stuff. Seventh Generation makes a good soap, Planet, and I think Safeway Free and Clear is even decent (check the label). If you want you clothes to smell, get some 100% pure (no additives) essential oil, mix it in a spray bottle with water and mist your clothing. OK, enough ranting. Once again... Sparkle... family biz, kind, helpful and friendly. read more

I've been going here for the past couple of years or so, sporadically because I travel a lot. They always greet me by my first name, and they always spend time to converse with me when I come here. I think they are pretty cool owners and they make sure to help you in any way possible. I recently moved to 45th so this is my closest laundromat. This is the first time I've had to wash at a coin-op and I'm so glad it happens to be at Sparkle. The small washers cost $2.50 and the large washers cost $3.50. The dryers give 6 minutes per $0.25. I usually pay about $11 to wash my whites, colors, and darks. Pros: -Super clean. I have no problem hanging out here. -Great posters on the walls. My personal favorite is the SF water map. -Walking distance from La Promenade Cafe. Nothing beats a breakfast sandwich while your stuff gets washed. -GOOD dryers. I can get non-bulky items dried in 30 minutes. -The rolling baskets are clean. -The marble counter tops are always clean as well. Cons: -No cell service in here. I have Sprint and I can't count on receiving anything while I'm inside. -Can't think of anything else! read more

I'm new to this neighborhood and am dissapointed with laundromats in the neighborhood. This laundromat is so close to my apartment, but such a shame that their washer and dryers don't do a good job. Whenever a wash is done, my clothes are still soaked because the machine's spin cycle doesn't do a good job. The dryers take such a long time to dry. Hence, you have to spend longer time and more money for your clothes. My towels take a minimum of 1 hour to dry. I wish they would update their machines. It's a bummer because the woman that runs the place is so sweet. That's why I tried to give this place several chances, but it's a waste of my money and time. read more

I would give zero stars to this place. i took my Dolce & Gabbana puffer jacket to them to be dry-cleaned (it had some spots). They ruined the coat. What i got back was this dried out, crispy, noisy cheap raincoat thing. When I told them they just said "oh, well. Try washing it at home." They did not even offer to give me my money back for the dry-cleaning. So my advice...do not take anything of value to them. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! it has convenient hours and location and the owners are ESPECIALLY wonderful!! if you do the wash n fold and give them your panties, they give them back to you folded neatly (you can fold panties?????) like presents that smell SOOOOOOOOOO good....also, they return your wash n fold, shirt laundrying, and dry cleaning just a couple of days after you give them to her! it is soo fast! Pretty much, the best laundry palace in the Richmond - and beyond. There is not stain that Linda will not obliterate without destroying your precious garments in the process. She is fast and attentive and does not ruin your expensive dress shirts like so many other places do. She even refused my tip after accomplishing what I deemed an "impossible mission". Unheard of. My husband and I have been doing our laundry here for over 8 months now and every time has been a pleasure (well, as much of a "pleasure" as laundry can be, haha).... the place is always clean, the dryers and washers work great, but most importantly the owner, Linda, is so so sweet! She really cares about her customers, and treats everyone as if they were her friends. Even when she is not helping me personally, I see her warmly interacting with every person who walks in the door. and when she is not doing that she is is working super hard, scrubbing the floors, washers & dryers, or folding clothes. We have recently tried the dry cleaning service as well, and it was beyond great. Most of the time our laundry is in before we expect it, very clean and nicely folded/buttoned. this place is seriously lovely. places like this, with true customer service, exceptional friendliness and quality product are VERY hard to come by these days. I write very few reviews, but Sparkle warrants one. Dry cleaners are truely hit or miss, but this place is pure gold. The couple that run it are as can be, reasonable, and competent. I've been going to Sparkle since I moved to the neighborhood about a year ago. One day, there was absolutely no parking whatsoever, so I tried another spot up the street. I highly recommend giving your business to Sparkle! My family and I have been taking our wash n' fold laundry and dry cleaning business to Linda & Wilson at Sparkle for about a year or so. We live way on the other side of town past SF State, and we came upon Sparkle after visiting Sutro Park with our dogs. We started doing our own laundry there because the place was extremely clean, the machines were well-maintained, the quarter machine was always full, and they had an attendant on duty. Amazing! Eventually, we decided to take advantage of the wash n' fold service, and we haven't looked back. We drop-off HUGE bags of clothes on a Saturday, and they're done less than a week later. Our clothes are always clean and lovely. Also, the dry cleaning is also returned promptly and cleaned and pressed wonderfully. We have used a few other wash n' fold businesses in the past (closer to home), and we had our clothes returned to us smelling funky time and time again. Why is it so difficult to simply wash and fold clothes? As mentioned in another review, they only accept cash, however, if you call ahead of time you can get your bill total so that you can grab cash before you pick-up your stuff. They take the hassle out of cleaning your clothes. Sparkle will take good care of you, and give you their excellent service. read more

I have used sparkle for both their machines and wash and dry service, and both are consistently excellent. I now use the wash and dry service exclusively. Linda is so professional, really takes pride in the service she offers and is incredibly kind. Not to mention the prices are totally reasonable; I don't spend much more on the service than it would cost to do myself. Highly recommend. read more

I love sparkle. Linda and Wilson are really nice, and helpful. I like that it's a manned laundromat until 7pm everyday, and even when I've put my laundry in at 9pm and left it in the dryer it's still been there when I've come back. Not that I should make a habit of that. When I have no change for the bus, they'll let me make it in their machine, probably cos I'm a regular, but I guess that with out their friendliness and good advice I probably wouldn't have become one. Clean and friendly, prices are very reasonable. The lady working there was very helpful on using the equipment, she saved us several dollars to wash rugs, by using one washer, as they do hold quite a lot. They also provide other services such as alterations, doing your laundry, and dry cleaning services. Doesn't get any better than this! read more
