I hate to give a small businesses low ratings but this place deserves it. I don't come here often but the handful of times I have, they have made the process less than ideal. Their hours outside say they open at 930am. They are never open on time on the handful of occasions I arrive at that time. Don't bother coming until 10 or later. I saw them carry dry cleaning from their car. They must not have dry cleaning on premises. I come to pick up my clothes at the date and time they tell me. Every time they tell me to come back the next day and that the clothes aren't ready yet. One time they gave me dirty clothes that they hadn't cleaned yet! Luckily I noticed it before I left. It's a shame because they are walking distance from my home. I would give them so much business! Instead I choose to drive 15 minutes out of my neighborhood to patronize a dry cleaner that is reliable. Worth it. But sad. read more

Great tailoring service. 20$ per pair of pants. I'm 5'0 so I always need to get my pants hemmed so I took 6 pairs of pants here and the lady was able to get them done in a week. She also remembered my inseam so i didn't have to try on my pants multiple times. Highly recommend! I will be bringing my dry cleaning here as well. read more

We had our down comforter dry cleaned from this place. When we picked it up and laid it down on our bed, fluffiness was completely gone and looks like all the down fillings had disappeared. it just stayed mostly flat. Comforter also smell slightly of detergent. It felt like it was machine washed rather than dry cleaned. We paid a lot of money to have it properly dry cleaned but now it looks like it will not keep us warm for the cold winter. read more

Quoted me $10 for skinny jeans and $15 for the flare!!?? I was a bit nervous since their rate was much lower than the other tailors I have been to but they did an amazing job!! So glad I found Sophia via Yelp and from recommendations from friends! She's a really friendly and patient person. I recently dropped off a bridesmaid dress from Lulus that had like 3-4 heavy layers that I needed shortened. She quoted me almost 50% off from what some other alteration stores in Sunset quoted me. There was another spot that quoted me the same amount but was 5 weeks out wait and I didn't want to wait that long. Sophia looked busy especially with the amount of customers that came in during my 20 minutes of being there but said she can do it for me in 2 weeks or less and fitted me the same day to measure the length. She told me she can try to have it ready whenever I wanted it but I didn't want her to feel rushed so I said 2 weeks is fine. Although I have not yet picked up my dress, I recommended my bf to come here to remove a zipper from his jeans (faux zipper as part of a design that we both thought was hideous). Called her at 4:15pm on a Saturday night and he needed it the same night by 7pm. She looked swamped but squeezed him in anyway. She did charge an extra amount for the short turnaround time but the jeans were done by 6:40pm and looked absolutely perfect even though it didn't seem like the easiest job. If my dress is ready after the date she told me/if I have any issues, I'll definitely update my review but if no hiccups, keeping my 5 star review for her! She's awesome already :) read more

Every week or two the husband (god bless him) takes all of our dirty laundry to Emerald Cleaners and it comes back neatly folded and wrapped in blue paper. 85 cents a pound. Minus one star because I still have to go to the laundromat for delicates and "performance wear" that shouldn't go into the dryer...it's all or nothing at Emerald. We tried a lot of other places in the Sunset but the price, quality of service and the nice woman who owns the business makes Emerald a keeper! ************* Update....5/25/08...ok, so, twice now we're received.....um....other people's laundry in with ours. So finding a good dry cleaners is a bit of a task... You want to trust someone with your expensive suits, silky dresses, and all the other stuff you spend a fortune on but can't put in your washer/dryer. The last thing I want is to pay someone $20 bucks to clean a suit and then still get it back with the stain on it ..(Lewinsky should have used a better dry cleaners) So when I take my "valuables" to Emerald Cleaners, I can always expect everything to be neatly folded, pressed, starched and cleaned to perfection. The "auntie" or owner of the cleaners is super sweet and patient, never rude or gives you a scowl if I'm trying to explain that the mysterious stain was from meatball sauce in combination of too much red wine...(yeah, I can get a bit sloppy) Also, I take my jeans to get hemmed here. (I think I'm average height but you jean makers think every woman is a 6 feet tall model?) The owner charges a reasonable price depending on if you want to keep the original hem (around $10-15). So bring your clothes, jeans to be hemmed...I love this place. read more

The lovely lady that runs this place does great alterations! I have had many dresses (new and vintage) and she had done a splendid job. I have not had dry cleaning done here, I usually choose to go to locations that clean on site so there is no worry of losing clothing in transit between locations. Plus it's easier to hold the cleaner responsible for a bad job if they clean on site. But since this place does a great job it's worth going in just for alterations. read more

I dropped off three coats on a Monday. They said they'd be ready for Wednesday pickup. I came Thursday morning at 800am and waited until 845am for someone to show up. Both google and yelp list 8am, but there door says 830am. One of my new jackets wasn't ready. Apparently it has a new stain and had to be "sent out" and won't be ready till "later". Eeek. read more

Whoever was running this place has left because when I went in there, there was a man who first of all couldn't speak English and second of all, had no idea what he was doing. I wanted to get something altered and some items cleaned and he looked at me like I had 10 heads until I mimed it out for him. Weird seeing as I was in a CLEANERS. Then he basically said no to the altering cause obviously the woman that did it no longer works there and he took my clothes for dry cleaning and threw them in behind the counter among a TON of other items that were strewn about the place. Needless to say I was worried but I had been recommended by a friend so I went with it. Came back a week later to find my clothes were thrown in a dirty plastic bag and left behind the counter. They had never even been touched since the last time I was there. This guy couldn't even apologize let alone explain what the hell was going on. I was just glad that he managed to find them in all the mess. DO NOT bring your items to this store. There is a great place on 14th and Taraval that will do a great job with no stress! read more

She shortened some jeans for me. Superb quality of work. It was rolled under and stitched about 5/8" from the bottom as expected but when you look inside, somehow, she rolled the cut edge under again and the stitching is only about 1/16th inch from that inside edge so there is no cut edge exposed at all. I've been coming to Emerald Cleaners for a couple years. Holly, the owner is very sweet. Holly does a wonderful job with tailoring any items that I have brought in. She will sew buttons and holes in items for free (maybe a perk for frequent costumers). I usual bring my blouses and my brothers dress shirts. My only complaint with this place is that I would prefer my blouses be ironed rather than pressed. I've had to bring back items that still had wrinkles in them. read more

Very inexpensive, love the woman who owns it. I've had her do alterations and she is very good. There have been several times that I have asked her to rush things and she always says yes. For some reason she gives me a discount too. The only thing that I don't like is that the place seems a bit unorganized and there was a time or two that she tried to give me someone else's clothes...that was a bit scary.
