The owner's name is Genny (yes, with a "G"). She exudes poise and friendliness as soon as you walk through the door. She greets with a smile and tries to take care of her customers quickly. I have used Martini Cleaners several times now. The first time was for cleaning delicate party clothes (with sequins and custom-jewelry buttons), a man's suit, sweater, and a pair of pants with lining. I was pleased with how the clothes turned out - clean and ironed properly, especially with the pants! The dry-cleaning is done off-premise by other family members, so expect the clothes to be treated with the personal attention that is inherent to a family-run business. The second time I used Martini cleaners, I asked for Genny's help to shorten two pairs of bootlegged pants. I was delighted to see the transformation - they had the perfect length and seemed professionally tailored. In my most recent visit, Genny didn't even charge me for replacing a cracked button. Martini not only provides good value (as echoed in other reviews) but also delivers high quality cleaning and alteration services. I come here every week to drop off my clothes. They are fantastic! Expect: 1. Excellent customer service - ever since I started coming here last November, they have remembered my name, that I prefer heavy starch, how to iron my pants, etc etc. They always ask how I'm doing and, well since I can be a bit forgetful, it's great that they don't raz me about my ticket. 2. A job done to your personal specifications - so I can be a little quirky about my clothes. I like some shirts with heavy starch, some with medium. I like some pants with creases, and some without. They get it right everytime. Furthermore, they always alter my shirts (move the cuffs up since I'm small) and my pants (hem them for my small but mighty legs), perfectly. 3. Affordable - they are priced perfectly. On average, I drop off 3-4 shirts for launder and press, and 3-4 pants for dry clean and press and pay about $15. What else can I say...? After many BAD cleaners experiences, I'm so relieved to have found them! read more

The best in the 'hood by far. When I moved into the neighborhood I went to the places up the hill near Molly Stones on Portola and was very, very disappointed. Dry cleaners with attitude?? Jenny is awesome! She remembers my name, charges pretty much nothing, and does awesome drycleaning. A month ago, I brought in 30 men's shirts for a work function that I needed ironed. In two hours. She hand ironed them and charged me $3 each. Wonderful! I have never paid more than $14 for my bill (not including the bill for the work thing). I mean like 2 shirts, 1 sweater, a pair of pants and a coat =$14. Incredible! Other places in the city like to charge $60 and leave you thinking about the shirt you could have bought instead of getting your clothes cleaned. All of my clothes are perfectly pressed, they seem to be able to get out stains that even other cleaners couldn't, and, as another yelper mentioned, have great parking. read more

In a word, horrible. Yes, Jenny and Cindy are nice but today I picked up my silk blouse and it had brownish stains on the label and all along the inside collar that positively weren't there when I dropped it off. Plus the two skirts I brought in to be hemmed were done completely wrong. When I showed Jenny the stains she said they were "sweat stains." There is no way these stains could possibly be from sweat. This blouse is a very expensive, Escada design, one that is worn on very special ocassions. It's not a work shirt or an everyday office blouse. I inherited it from my aunt but it didn't fit so I decided to sell it but I wanted it to be professionally cleaned. I'm so sorry I did. Not only does it now have new stains, it was so badly pressed it had wrinkles on the back and all around the sleeves. As for the skirts, one had an inside slip that Jenny hemmed without bothering to hem the outside skirt. And the other skirt, Jenny claimed to have hemmed it but it wasn't any shorter than when I brought it in. I don't know about you, but when I take my clothes to the cleaners, I expect to pick them up looking almost brand new. Of course if there are pre-existing stains on them I expect they will still be there when I pick them up. What I don't expect is for my clothes to have new stains and wrinkles! And to add insult to injury, Jenny never apologized or took any responsibility for not hemming the skirts as I had asked. She even tried to blame me for not having my instructions written on her order slip. When it was Cindy who took my order three weeks ago. Nor did Jenny ever offer to return my money for ruining what was once a perfectly beautiful blouse. I'm so upset about what they did to my clothes, and the lousy, incompetent and irresponsible service I received today. There are hundreds of other dry cleaners in the city, do yourself and your clothes a favor and go somewhere other than Martini #3 on Monterey Blvd and Foerster Streets. read more

Love this place! The lady who is usually working is always so kind. I brought my suit in to be dry cleaned and she mentioned that it would be ready for pick up in two days. I was so busy that I didn't have a chance to pick up my dry cleaning until a week later! She was completely understanding. I'd highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

Genny is so obviously smarter than a 5th grader. Because she remembers EVERY ONES name. Not only does she know our family by name. But, when she goes on vacation, she brings gifts back for the kids! And the kids love to see her because they know if she doesn't come bearing gifts; she will come bearing candy. I have given Martini Cleaners Prada bags, Dooney and Bourke purses and Coach bags to clean. I have never had a problem and if there is an item that they think may get ruined, they won't even take it. I put LOTS of clothes in the cleaners and have left them for months (I know it is a ghetto thing to do. But, I have an expensive purse addiction that depletes me of my cash) ...ANYWAY, Genny NEVER scolds me. In fact, she always makes me feel like she is happy to see me. One time, I was at a party talking about how AMAZING my dry cleaner was (as you can see, I was the "life of the party") and this guy told me that Genny's customer service was so wonderful to him that he didn't even care if his clothes got clean. Now, I wouldn't go that far. But, I won't be taking my clothes anywhere else because we enjoy seeing Genny as much as she seems to enjoy seeing us! read more

Phenomenal dry cleaning at an excellent price. They charge $5 to dry clean pants and $5 for alterations. I continue to come here even though I moved out of the neighborhood due to the cheap price and excellent service. They take cash or credit. read more

I used to live a few blocks from Martini Cleaners so naturally found myself there one day. I met a women picking up her clothing who told me that she had moved to Pac Heights years ago but still had to have Jenny do her dry cleaning. I thought, "That's ridiculous and just slightly weird. Why would you come all the way across the city for dry cleaning?" Well, now I too have moved and won't take my clothes anywhere else. Martini does the best job and if a stain doesn't come out the first time they keep trying (without charge). Jenny is a master seamstress and has probably altered about half my wardrobe. I came here to drop off a special skirt that has a leather lining ban. I think they charged me $6 for it and same price for my scarf. I've never paid so much for drycleaning before (usually I pay around $3 per item. but then again, that was 2 yrs ago). Yesterday I started using the skirt again and as I was about to take it off from the hanger, I realized that they pinned the leather lining bantk the hanger. When I took the safety pins off, it left holes in my skirt (see pics). For the price I paid, I wished hhey would be more professional and handled my items more carefully. I was very sad :( read more

Jenny rules. I dress 75% vintage- so, yes, gentle readers, you know what that means- lots of FUNKY ASS STANK from former wearers of your "new" clothes, and tough to get out stains. Also, a LOT of "Nipping" and "Tucking" in spots. Jenny almost (hence the four) gets the JOB DONE for me, ALWAYS has a cheerful attitude, and makes my "finds" come out smelling and looking fresh. My boyfriend picked-up his drycleaning from here this morning. He had a least a dozen shirts, five or ten pair of slacks and a very high-end wool coat cleaned for the colder nights and the total came to $51 dollars. The best part is...Jenny remembered his name and exactly how many pieces off the top of her head and this was the first time he'd ever patroned Martini Cleaners. I haven't been able to go in for awhile since I had a dress code change, but I should just to test her. I used to go regularly and the service is excellent. I had a different experience than others have said. My dry cleaned shirts seemed fine but my hemmed pants were not so fine. Stitching started coming out by just touching the pants. They didn't look right so I took them to another place. They said they did a straight line hem and opened up the side seem but didn't close it creating a flair and all around bad look. So I won't be getting any alterations here any more. read more

Why am I even writing another 5-star review of this place? I guess because Jenny deserves it. I don't do a lot of dry cleaning because I wear T-shirts all the time, but every 9-12 months when I actually wear and soil nice clothes, this is where I take them to be cleaned. No matter how many months or years go by between my visits (I have a 2-year old. I don't get out much), Jenny always remembers my name. It's ridiculous. I keep going here because its in the neighborhood, but seriously. Its not that fabulous. I took in a bridesmaid dress once for a really simple alternation (add straps and take up the hem one inch) and when I came to pick it up a week before the wedding they had temporarily misplaced it. They found it the next day, but still. I also brought a sweater in for a loose thread, and the work wasn't great. The thread just came loose again after I wore it twice. So, meh. read more

I've been a customer for 7+ years and this is by far the BEST dry cleaner I've ever had. I just can't write enough positive things about Genny and the folks at Martini Cleaners. I have now moved and am sad to say goodbye, because of how friendly and nice Genny is. If you live anywhere near Glen Park, Diamond, Heights, Sunset, West Portal, City College, etc - you should really go here. Alterations - I've brought in suits, shirts, pants, costumes, jackets even and they fixed them all and made them look great. Some of my requests were odd (like me) and they totally went with it. Perfect neighborhood cleaners: right by the laundromat, with excellent service. Jenny is sweet -- I don't *think* I bring stuff in that often, but she always greets me by name and asks how things are going. Clothes always come back nicely pressed, etc. Oh, and their prices are totally reasonable too. Martini also does repairs/alterations. They did a fine job patching up my BF's beloved winter coat (ripped pocket, missing button) and altering a dress I ordered online. Being the pseudo-environmentalist that I am, I wish they'd consider using GreenEarth Cleaning methods, but there probably aren't enough Treehugger types in this neighborhood for them to make that investment. Feel free to actually try on the garment that you need altered in the back, they will tailor the clothes while you have them on for the best fit. The prices are absolutely fabulous and I do agree with other reviews that Jenny is the best, but sometimes my business suits come back smelling musty and they don't go in smelling that way. Perhaps it's because they sit in a lanudry truck all day or something. I know that they do use an outside vendor to do the majority of the cleaning, so it's probably not their fault. I'd recommend them because the service is great and the prices so fair, but as with everything, there is some compromise. read more
