This little restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The family has been to scissor tail park too many times to count at this point, and we've always seen/passes Spark but always written it off as just a generic concession stand (cheap chicken nuggets, frozen hamburger patty, greasy fries is what I imagined). We also opted for a nearby restaurant or food trucks. Until we finally walked in and gave it a shot. Now I'm a little upset we took so long to do it! I got the Park Power Bowl - quinoa, sweet potatoes, avocado hummus, roasted chickpeas, candied jalapeños, almonds, and a little more. The candied jalapeños were the best part, but the whole bowl was amazing! And it was huge! I only at half and took the rest home. The kids got an uncrustable and the chicken bites and shared some fries - pretty standard, exactly what you expect. But my husband got a burger. For the life of me can't remember which one now, but he was so surprised with how good it was that he ordered a second to take home with us. I surprised the kids with a seasonal Lemon Pound Cake shake to share for dessert. I'm not a huge fan of milkshakes, but it was tempting to get a second just so I didn't have to share this with the kids! I don't know if it was the Lemon Pound Cake in there or if they secretly added some crack, but our straw was slurping the very bottom just from the time it left the counter and made it outside to the sidewalk walk. A New #1 Burger in OKC! Our Burger Passport adventure brought us to Spark at Scissortail Park, and I think I may have found my new favorite burger in Oklahoma City! This was our first visit, and from the moment we took our first bite, I couldn't stop telling my wife how incredible these burgers were. I ordered the BLC Burger topped with pimento cheese, bacon, a crispy cheddar crust, pickles, and Prairie Ranch. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the crispy cheddar crust took it over the top. Outstanding! My wife, Lori, ordered the Spark Burger, swapping the American cheese for cheddar. She absolutely loved it, especially the fresh dill pickles that added the perfect crunch and flavor. The crinkle-cut fries deserve a shout-out, too. They were cooked just the way I like them--nice and crispy. I ordered the signature Pink Sauce on the side, and the garlic aioli was excellent. Before we left, I asked to speak with a manager--not because there was a problem, but because I wanted to compliment the team. Marisol was genuinely excited to hear how much we enjoyed our meal. She also told us about their limited-time Chicken Salad Sandwich, available through the end of the summer, and after this experience, I think we'll definitely be back to give it a try. Ordering is easy at the counter and they text you when to come back to pick it up. A recent trip to see my friends Vertical Horizon at the beautiful Scissortail Park in downtown OKC, brought me a chance to finally try SPARK. A popular burger chain there in OKC. The stage for the concert was about a 100 yards away from one of their locations. So from all the hype I've heard about the place, I was finally getting a taste. You enter the building to place your order, they'll text your phone when it's ready. The menu was a bit small, had six options for burgers and of course you could build your own. I went simple with a double meat cheeseburger and toppings and opted for their "pink" fries. The order came out fairly quick. Beautiful burger at first appearance and the fries are definitely pink. The pink sauce is a type of garlic aioli, and actually paired well with the fries. The burger meat tasted like fresh patties, not frozen. My only complaint, all the toppings aside from the lettuce had slid to the back half of the burger. The first few bites were only meat, cheese, and lettuce. The burger is wrapped in paper, so it was hard to notice the toppings missing until halfway through the burger. The potato roll was a nice change for a burger. Again, the punk fries turned out to be the real highlight. Not sure I'll be rushing to try SPARK again, but if it's all I've got at the moment it'll do. Spark is a GREAT go to for gluten free if you are in a hurry or just out kicking around at Scissortail Park. I usually get a burger wrapped in lettuce (good lettuce) and fries. Oh ya, they have a separate, dedicated fryer so the fries are GLUTEN FREE! Woot-woot! They now also have a GF bun that I have yet to try. The workers are always patient and friendly with all of my questions and I'm sure there are more GF options there I just haven't tried any. The place was packed. As a person who appreciates a sense of order, I was a bit put off by the chaos that is Spark on the weekends. Next time (and there will certainly be one) as I approach the looong line I will: 1. Find the end of one of the lines--there may be two ends one inside + one outside; fellow food goers other's don't know what's going on either-- we'll all get our food and it will work itself out in the end. 2. Wait patiently in line and embrace the people watching experience...it is second to none. 3. Use the time in line to tag team bathroom time with your dining partner, great time to wash yer paws before eating. 3. Use the line time to peruse the menu online; team Spark is hustling in the front taking orders as fast as they can. 4. Remember: the long line isn't as daunting as it seems. The pink fries and chocolate custard shake were my favorite. I don't think I'll ever not get the pink fries...they were sooooo yummy. Next time I'll try the Spark burger without the spark sauce as the burger tasted a bit too salty and I think the culprit may have been the sauce. Tip: Finding an inside spot on windy days is a must.
