The ambiance and decor was beautiful and really transported you to feel like you were in Spain. I was with a big party for a graduation dinner. Service was a little confusing but did the job. I can't even tell you who our server was. No one really introduced themselves. It seems like maybe there were 2 servers just taking care of us but that was never clarified. There was about 11 of us and they did a decent job taking care of us but we definitely had to catch their attention numerous times for refills etc. The food was just okay. There is definitely so dishes that are their specialty meaning they do them very well but everything is okay. And there were so things that weren't good at all that we had to return. All in all I had a good time, but I don't think I'd go back. Walking in feels like stepping into a neighborhood clubhouse -- many older regulars, a warm, laid-back vibe. They serve hot bread first -- crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside -- really enjoyable. We ordered two drinks, solid and not overly sweet, just right. The oysters were okay, not particularly sweet or briny but still fresh enough. We had the pork chop and their signature lobster seafood paella. The pork chop was huge (thanks to the friendly staff for warning us), slightly dry but tasty. The paella rice was rich and flavorful, lobster and scallops were fresh, while the shrimp and mussels were more ordinary. Portion sizes were very generous. I also captured a moment when the staff pulled a live lobster from the tank -- felt very authentic and documentary-like. The place is fairly spacious. The service was fantastic, our server was very kind and great with recommendations! The food was not amazing but it wasn't bad. We got the calamari which was fairly average, the camarones al ajillo which were good, and the patatas bravas which were very comparable to the ones I had in Madrid so definitely the best out of our meal. For main courses we got the paella and the skirt steak (we wanted the churrasco but they're not selling it anymore due to its high price) - the steak was good and the paella was okay as well, not amazing but not bad. Overall, I think the price for it is a bit much considering that the food isn't as good as other Spanish places I've tried but the service does go a long way. read more

I remember when this restaurant was featured on a popular tv show at the time, for help keeping their doors opened. I always assumed it did not survive. I am happy to discover that I was wrong! We went as a party of 3 for lunch. A friend told me she gets monthly deals and it was worth it. She told no lies! I am impressed that their lunch menu is (which is still a full menu) is available until 5pm (including weekends). We shared an appetizer of fried calamari and a pitcher of white sangria for the table. I had the shrimp in garlic sauce, which came with vegetables on the side, and a choice of soup or salad. Calamari - AMAZING!!! It was so fresh and fried to perfection, not over or under done. Not too much breading! Exquisite. No complaints! Chicken noodle soup - the other 2 people in my party said the soup was thin and lacked flavor. I had the house salad, which came with house made balsamic vinaigrette. The waiter told me I'd love it, and he was one hundred percent correct! It was the best part of the salad. And a delightful pre-requisite to the meal. Shrimp in garlic sauce - mildly spicy, it creeps up with each forkful and it's oh so delicious! The garlic flavor is plentiful (which i prefer). The portion is more than adequate for lunch. It came with yellow rice and a side of green beans, carrots, and broccoli. I had ONE piece of broccoli. It was delectable, but the portion was disappointing. More, please! White sangria - I never wanted it to end after every sip! However, $28 for a such a small pitcher is ridiculous. I was told that recently it was much more reasonable in pricing. Overall, a wonderful experience. Great, clean atmosphere. I ordered 4 days in advance for a pickup at 3pm for Mother's Day. I get there at 3pm and was told my order is not there, okay waited a total of 20 minutes and at no point did anyone offer to check on it but instead told well the kitchen is busy. I would have understood but I got a nasty attitude and no one offered to check on it. I ended up leaving and safe to say they cared more about their tables than anything, pretty upsetting experience. My "grilled " shrimp were more like boiled shrimp. The shrimp cocktail and mussels were a bit sketchy. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I know a lot of locals like this place because of the sangria but even that is gross. The locals need to go outside the box and visit all the great Spanish and Portuguese restaurants over the bridge in Newark. I came here for my birthday dinner with my family. We arrived at 4:35 so we were able to order off the lunch special menu which is available from 11:30-5pm. My waiter was very sweet and patient with my niece. All the staff members were inviting and very friendly. All the entrees came with 2 sides of our choice. We all chose spanish rice and mixed vegetables. Veggies were good, but the rice was a little undercooked. I ordered the breast of chicken madrillenan, which is just chicken with lemon butter sauce. I thought it tasted good but was a bit salty. My family members got the shrimp and garlic entree, and they loved that they got a lot of shrimp. But they also thought that their meal was a little salty. I got the white sangria as my drink, and I enjoyed it. The staff sang happy birthday to me and brought out some flan with a sparkler. I'm not usually a fan of Flan, but I loved theirs. It has this hint of cinnamon and rich caramel that makes a delicious dessert. Overall, I would say it was a good experience. Very nice restaurant. You feel like you are at home in Sevilla. It was a bit awkward since my husband looks to me for Spanish and my son does a great job for it, but the people there were so wonderfully kind. The tortilla was good, I could do without pimiento and and the shrimp were perfectly seasoned and yummy. The steak sandwich my son ate was like buttah as it melted in your mouth and the burger was so large that it was a challenge to finish it. I wish we could have stayed longer, but it was after hours and next time I hope to have a coffee. I am so happy we stopped here to grab a bite. I've eaten here many times over the years and it's consistently one of the best Spanish restaurants in the area (Ironbound included). I normally get the Monkfish which is always cooked perfectly and their tapas which are really good. The fried manchego is delicious, the braised pork belly is amazing, even the sardines are really good (though only tried once). Last time I was there I tried the lamb Osso buco which was honestly the best tasting lamb shank I've ever had. It was a special so not sure if it's consistent, but it was so tender it literally fell off the bone and so flavorful that I finished it even though I was no longer hungry from the tapas. It also has a parking lot which is a huge plus cause parking in the Ironbound is such a pain. read more

Great experience. I started visiting the Spanish Pabillion this year, 2024. I was looking for a sport bar or restaurant where my family and I could watch the Euro2024. I found this place to be really good. It has a nice outdoor space with food and bar service. We sat inside at the bar every time we visited it as we found it the most cozy place with great ambiance. People are friendly and respectful. The service was great. The bartender is a young Portuguese man, Joao, with great skills at serving and knowing the client's taste. I had different sort of Spanish Tapas, including "callos"... wow, I had years I didn't eat those... It was delicious! If you ever visit Harrison Town in NJ, don't hesitate to stop by this place for Tapas, a Spanish or Portuguese beer or wine. Oh! Came here on a whim for lunch with colleagues. I ordered the Grilled Octopus. It tasted steamed not grilled. For my entree, I had the chicken in garlic. It is basically pan fried and drenched in oil. This meal came with Vegetables and potato. The vegetables were tasty and the potato chips were not what I was expecting but they weren't bad. The service was pleasant but a little lengthy for a lunch meal. It was weird because appetizers came out quick while the main course took forever. We ordered garlic shrimp w/ garlic mashed potatoes & a chicken, pork sausage stew w/ green peppers, onions & yellow rice, & the chicken fingers kids meal that comes with fries. My daughter took up most of our time while we were here (after a missed much needed nap). We loved our food & each entree had the perfect serving allowing us to take our food home. Their dining area was spacious enough for large groups and multiple wheelchairs. They also have a bar that was full of ppl laughing and having a great time. Accessibility: Only giving 4 stars because they have a ramp for wheel chairs located next to the staircase outside of the restaurant, but you'd have to climb a flight of stairs first (pictured). This would almost defeat the purpose for those who would benefit from a ramp. My experience at Spanish Pavillion was memorable but definitely not in a good way. My mom wanted to try this place for her birthday lunch, we went on st. Patty's day around 1pm and it wasn't busy at all but that didn't mean the service was any better. They do have a parking lot so that was one less headache to deal with. We went in and the hostess was nice and seated us right away. After that I feel like it took around 15 minutes for any server to come by and greet us or see if we had any questions. Which I did! They advertise half price tapas on the weekends but there's really only about 3 or 4 options to pick from because most of them are excluded. So finally a server comes by and not even a "hello how are you" just a "are you ready?"!! So we let it slide and ordered the fried manchego cheese, bacon wrapped dates and the chicken skewers as tapas. The cheese was the only good thing about this whole meal. The dates were ok but had an odd flavor to them. The chicken skewers weren't cooked enough and as I started biting into the thicker pieces I realized the chicken was raw. It shouldn't be that difficult to cook chicken breast. We got the paella Americana as an entree to share. First bite into it my teeth almost cracked from all the sand in the dish. The seafood was NOT CLEANED!! The clams were so filled with sand they were inedible. Some of the mussels literally still had sandy seaweed on the shells! Who wants to see that?? Every bite of the rice was like a mystery...am I going to break a tooth, am I not? Crazy experience. There was an abundance of seafood and the flavor was good but we couldn't enjoy it with the fear of chewing on sand every other bite. To top it all off, when you check in they offer a 25 percent discount on an entree. The man tried to give me a hard time about it cause we shared an entree. Now keep in mind I didn't complain about anything during the meal because I figured I'm honestly never going to go back but I knew I wasn't gonna pay full price for raw chicken and dirty seafood. I definitely let them know about my experience but nothing as done to compensate. Finally we got the new bill with the 25% off and as we laid the tip down on the table the server came and took it while we were still seated and finishing our drinks. I was just so blown away by the lack of service, any type of conversation or courtesy. The only fantastic server was a tall African American man who I'm pretty sure was just helping to run dishes out but he was super sweet and asked how everything was. He cleared our table and always paid attention to us. Wish I had gotten his name. Overall this place is going downhill again, the lack of service and cleanliness in the food shows. This is the second time I've been in the area for business. Back in December I stopped in for supper following the recommendation of the desk clerk at the Hampton Inn. It was so good that I booked a room at the same hotel this week, just so I could walk over again as it only takes a few minutes. THE SERVICE: Professional and attentive. The waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, making recommendations for beer, wine and appetizers. The waiter was followed by two colleagues that were running out food and bussing tables. They all worked well together tending to customers. They keep the place clean and I like the ambiance also. THE FOOD: Dates stuffed with blue cheese and wrapped with bacon, like heaven on a plate! Fried oysters that were artistically placed on the half shell and delicious. I only wish there had been more of them. The seafood entree that I had during my first visit was out of this world! This time, I splurged for paella. I can't recommend it. There wasn't the flavorful sauce that I've had at other restaurants .... Not a hint of saffron to be detected, there was no sausage and there was too much rice. Further, the small shrimp were a little overcooked. Even though the paella was a disappointment, everything else made up for it's shortcomings. Next time I'll try more tapas. read more

I am a horrible cook and I can even make better paella than this. The rice was severely overcooked and there is almost no flavor to it. The rice is literally almost like mush! There was no garlic used and, other than the saffron, I can't detect any actual flavor to the rice. I am tempted to just throw the whole thing away but it was over an hour's drive to get there and back. Growing up I had eaten here and ordered paella from here hundreds of times and this wasn't the experience back then. I haven't eaten here in at least 5 years so I don't know if this is how their paella is now but I won't be ordering from this restaurant again, unfortunately. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 10-15 minutes to the Ironbound and hit up a place like Spanish Tavern. Super bummed. read more

They are attentive! I don't know if the person taking care of us was the manager, but he was not a regular waiter and he was on point the entire night. Making recommendation and making sure we always had a drink and bread on the table. This type of service is rare now a days especially on holidays like Easter when restaurants are crowded, but to be completely honest the food was not a great experience. For starters we had the fried basic calamaris and the steak skewers. The calamaris were okay but both apps missing flavor. For the entree we had the Paella de Mariscos. It was recommended because the calaspara rice is imported from Spain but the paella was just okay. The rice was a bit hard and lacked flavor. I had the soft-shell crabs in a garlic sauce also. The crabs were full of flavor and came with yellow rice and veggies. My son had the classic burger which was served in a Portuguese roll. My son loved his burger. For dessert we had the Creme Brulee and carrot cake. The creme brulee was delicious, but the carrot cake was old and seemed to had been frozen and thawed out right before.
