I would not be able to tell you how to get to this locale it is seriously in the middle of nowhere. The first thing you will notice is the restaurant looks like some sort of shack-there are no windows. I was assured by my companion that the food is good and not to run away screaming. (for fear this was a secret CIA prison or something) The food was good-ample bread and soup were brought to the table and the portions were ridiculously big. Didn't like the first time, but gave it a second chance. Again decidedly mediocre drinks, food, and service. This place doesn't deserve to be named in the same sentence as any of the Portuguese places in Ironbound like Seabras, Sol Mar, Adega, Paleio, Iberia, etc. And the service was indifferent. Wanted to leave ASAP and was embarrassed in front of my guest. I would have been tolerant if just the Sangria is good, but it was way too sweet without any fresh fruit taste AT ALL. To top it off, the pours were light and the prices were high. If you think this place is good you need to get out more often. I'm surprised that this place has so many negative reviews. I have thoroughly enjoyed every meal I have had at Spain Rincon. In fact, we went to Iberia's in Newark over the summer (which has rave reviews) and I personally thought the food was subpar compared to the food at Spain Rincon. The location and ambiance is not much but the food is delicious, the service is great and the portions are huge. All of the mariscada dishes are excellent. My personal favorite is the mariscada criolla but the green sauce and garlic sauce are also great. The filet with mushrooms in sherry wine is also wonderful. The garlic shrimp and the Portuguese clam appetizers are also quite good. My only complaint is that one time my lobster was a bit over cooked, but that can happen everywhere and I have not had any problems other than that. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want good Portuguese food and don't want to go all the way to Newark. read more

Their food is very good. Don't let the exterior fool you. The restaurant is relatively small. Extensive menu, excellent service. Prices are pretty standard. They do have a kids menu and chicken tenders which is a lifesaver for my family. My favorite dish is their garlic shrimp dinner. It's amazing! They also do take out and you can even take out sangria which is a huge bonus during covid. Relaxed atmosphere, family friendly or date night. It's a local gem. read more

Do not let the humble exterior for you this is a cut above. Two cuts above. Marvelous in both food and service. Their house Cabernet was fantastic. Their soup and bread was delightful. Sangria is not great, place is not lavish (which I don't mind at all) but food is good! We ordered the Paella Valenciana which has chicken and chorizo and it was really good! Each order is pretty big, one paella feed 2-4 and more. Definitely recommend and will be returning. read more

Found this place by getting lost....my Queen and I jumped on the highway for a night out....no destination in mind, ended up in the Dover, NJ area... She started looking for a place to eat as the sun set and when she relayed the cordintates and a found a place to turn around there was "Spain Rincon" We walked in, received well the food and service was awesome, the owner/bartender checked on us twice, thought that was nice as it felt like a local spot off the well traveled roads, our waiter Angerson took very good care of us. This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special either. It's very small, with relatively cramped and uncomfortable seating. They pack people in and it gets very loud. That said, the food is quite good. The safood is very fresh and all the dishes are flavorful. If you like garlic, you'll have no shortage of tasty options to choose from. They also make an excellent, and quite strong, sangria. As good as the food is, though, the overall experience is less than enjoyable. Once the owner takes your order, you're pretty much on your own after that. The army of busboys scurrying around and clearing your dishes don't make for a very relaxing experience. Because it's so small and fills up quickly, you'll want to make a reservation. I have heard good reviews on this place. Ordered the Paella Valencia. As soon as i got it i asked them if this is authenitic? The rice was old and reheated and then they just dumped old seafood on it. The lobster was filled with green gook the cherizo looked like it was old and the chicken was old. Nothing was fresh in this dish. When i got home i tried to salvage the leftovers it with some chicken broth and butter. I found a closed clam and opened it to find it filled with black stuff in the inside of it. This place is disgusting. Will never eat here again. This place has the best Porter House, I ever tasted. When you say "medium", they have it down to a science! Parking is a slippery slop here, but everything else is on a Newark or better level.The place is a bit small so arrive early especially if they have specials, probably one of the few places, I'd wait for. Called to ask what time they closed on Saturday night, as we were hungry after shopping at the mall, and was told 10:30. We arrived about 9:45 so were the only people in the place. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We did not feel rushed or that we were keeping them there late. We enjoyed a small pitcher of white sangria which was delicious. Probably one of the best I've had in a while. The complimentary soup came out first and was very tasty. For dinner, I had grilled salmon and my husband had stuffed salmon. Both very good. Being of Spanish decent and being accustomed to eating Spanish/Portuguese food all my life, I must say this place definitely misses the mark completely. The garlic shrimp was not what authentic garlic shrimp should be. It was not good at all! It lacked the garlic flavor. It was just bland. The Galician soup they served was just broth and some greens and the rest of the soups tasty ingredients were omitted and therefore the soup was just bland. For good authentic Spanish/Portuguese food go elsewhere. The only positives are that the service was very good and the Sangria was amazing! Stay away from this place. Food was not cooked correctly. The evening started with the waiter rushing us to order. The soup was cold with no flavor. The food was not all brought out. Was served my chicken and waited about 10 minutes for the pasta to arrive. By that time the food was cold the chicken has a burn after taste. My husband has sea food which he me anted was tuff. He felt it was over cooked or old. Saw the waiter drying off the dishes with the same towel he used to wip down the small counter where the dishes where displayed. Staff was rude. And they obviously overbooked. It was obviously about making money that night for them. It was a big rush. They usually give after dinner drinks, on the house. My best buddy and me went there on Tuesday after work. He got the shellfish paella, and I got the shellfish in garlic sauce. Both of us thought the food was absolutely delicious, as good (or better) than any Portguese food we've had in all our years in Jersey. Both dishes had very generous amounts of lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, and scallops. Each kind of shellfish was cooked to perfection - nothing overcooked or rubbery (which happens in too many Portugese places). And the garlic sauce was perfect - very light, but very flavorful.
