They have recently gone up slightly in price (13Euro for the ravioli, I think) but it's still not overly expensive for Amsterdam. The burrata as appetizer is incredible and totally worth the 30Euro (easily split with 6 people if you wanted to). The homemade ravioli's are so delicious. The pear-cheese is my favorite. It's served simply with melted butter, parmesan and some pepper. It doesn't need more. Italian food should be simple so that the amazing taste of the food comes out. The side of veggies and potato that you can order on the side is also amazing. I'm not sure what they cook them in but I had to eat it all even though I was full. The ravioli of the day is also always a unique and good ravioli. Make sure to make a reservation! They are always full. If it's just one or two people they will try to squeeze you in late but then you might miss out on some of the best menu items because they will be out.

(There's also a old-fashioned wall-mounted tank for the toilet, but most people wouldn't count that as part of the decor.) The mixed-seafood looked like a solid pick, but we'd had something similar the night before so went for pasta; this turned out to be a somewhat regrettable choice. The daily special pasta, just described as "Lasagne" on the blackboard, turned out to be a carbonara version with speck and a very, very heavy cream sauce. Some nice flavors but also some weird ones, and really just full of cream. We also got the tortelloni funghi, which was severely lacking in mushroom flavor, and drowned in butter, oil, and ground parmesan cheese. Not particularly good on its own, and truly paled in comparison with a recent lunch at Ree7. The strongest part of our meal was the tiramisù, where Koevoet's signature is using whole-wheat biscuits instead of ladyfingers. Fascinating, and well-covered in marscarpone and cocoa; not as much coffee flavor as I usually like, but it worked well.

In the open kitchen you can see (and hear!) the chef work his magic. The bread, the starters, the fresh home made pasta's and the secondi's are all amazing. They import a lot from Italy themselves, and you can even but a bottle of olive oil here. The place is full of ferrari signs, foto's of Sophia Loren, etc. It feels like a second home. Great for a nice romantich night out or a double date, maybe not so good if you go with more then 4 people, as the place is very small. Expect to spend about 115 euro for 2 persons incl a bottle of wine. Make sure you reserve a table!

Same goes for the pasta with sausage we had. Maybe the secondi taste better, but I'm not prone to go check them out after this experience. After seeing its awesome Yelp reviews, we decided to dine here on our last night, as we wanted something close by and easy. We walked in and were able to get seated immediately. There were only a few parties inside on a Saturday night, an hour before closing. Our server was super friendly, personable and helpful. He told us that the special pizza of the night had burrata and that there were only two pizzas left; if he sells all of the pizzas at the end of the night, his boss will buy him a bottle of whiskey. We had to help the guy out! Plus, burrata is amazing, so how can you resist? We also decided to order the vegetarian antipasta platter with our wines. The food was awesome and so deliciously fresh. The vegetarian antipasta platter came out first, and all of the different assorted items were mixed throughout in an olive oil base with pesto. There were chunks of mozzarella cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, bleu cheese, cucumbers and arugula. It was better than expected and a great way to start our meal. The pizza then came out and it was delicious! The burrata, as it should be, was the star of the pizza, with its big lump right in the middle. All of us were able to get a chunk of burrata with every slice. For the three of us, the pizza was the perfect portion for sharing. (And our server did end up selling out all the pizza specials, so won his whiskey!) After our meal we were provided complimentary limoncello, which was the perfect night cap. I will say, I'm not a huge Italian food fan, but Ristorante La Festa makes me think otherwise. This was a great dinner in Amsterdam, and who knew you could find awesome Italian food in the Netherlands? The place also feels very home-like, with its small space, dim lighting and far distance from the tourist scene. I'm already missing Ristorante La Festa and Amsterdam.

After traveling and walking around all day without much food, I couldn't even finish half my meal. There's a house cat!!! Ahh. My crazy cat lady heart was stoked to snuggle that cutie while I tried to shovel the food in my mouth. We were with 7 people and it was absolutely great! When entering we immediately felt at home. The owner introduced himself and even the chefs waved hello from kitchen, which you can look into from the bar.The place is located in a small street right in the midst of everything that Amsterdam has to offer. Musea, shops, bars, and the beautiful canals are right around the corner. Inside it's very cosy with lots of atmosphere, and it's well decorated. You need to go up some steps to get to the tables, so it's not wheelchair friendly. The chairs are pretty comfortable and there's plenty of room at the table, on which you will find real linen and nice wine & water glasses. The waiter who served us was very friendly and always just there when we needed him but never there when we didn't. This is an art you don't see much anymore. After we asked he gave us lots of information about the wines, which helped us choose one that we liked. They have mostly Italian wines and we tried 3, all were very good. The cheapest bottle on the menu is 20 euro, but they also have plenty of higher priced wines. I remember we had a very nice Suave that set us back something like 30 euro. Well worth the money. Coquilles st Jacques (or scallops I think it is in English) with a mix of artichokes and herbs were wonderful, the pasta (home made gnocchi with lobster) was very nice and the turbot I had for main was just delicious. Very pure and simple, perfectly prepared. Other people had Jugged Hare (made of beef) with polenta prepared in an Italian way. A wonderful winter dish, full of taste and very fulfilling. Deserts were equally great. The chocolate cake (made of pure chocolate ofcourse!) was one of the best I ever had, and the lemon pie was sweet with a bit of sour and had a crunchy bite. Oh and I'd almost forget the cheese we had with a very good sweet wine the waiter convinced us to taste, which was much better the the port we originally wanted. Yumm!
