burrata pizza - yummy

had a great experience here. close to our hotel so just dropped by conveniently. i had the burrata pizza. it was crispy and the pesto was yummy. family had the diavola pizza (delicious) and the bolognese (great, salad was good). also enjoyed the bruschetta appetizer (nothing fancy but fresh and yummy). wait staff was incredibly attentive and kind ! recommend if you want italian food that is quick, casual, and yummy ! also enjoyed a peril spritz a lot and house red wine.

Pizza Silvana (ham and mushroom) and pizza con pollo (chicken and mushroom)

Another very nice Italian place in the little Italy street from Amsterdam…read more Don't expect pizza's here though this is a real kitchen! This very small Italian is always packed. In the open kitchen you can see (and hear!) the chef work his magic. The bread, the starters, the fresh home made pasta's and the secondi's are all amazing. They import a lot from Italy themselves, and you can even but a bottle of olive oil here. The place is full of ferrari signs, foto's of Sophia Loren, etc. It feels like a second home. Great for a nice romantich night out or a double date, maybe not so good if you go with more then 4 people, as the place is very small. Expect to spend about 115 euro for 2 persons incl a bottle of wine. Make sure you reserve a table!

On the outside it doesn't look all too fancy. Inside, the tables are closely arranged; making getting up from your table quite a challenge at times. However the waitress was friendly, and the atmosphere cosy. I had the truffle tagliatelle, which tasted excellent, but sadly wasn't cooked properly; it stuck together. Same goes for the pasta with sausage we had. Maybe the secondi taste better, but I'm not prone to go check them out after this experience. All in all, good service, but for the pricing they might pay a little more attention to the food.

Restaurant Sebastian - Focaccia, Stracciatella and Tomato

After wandering around Amsterdam for the day, our family chose this restaurant to go to. The pizza…read morewas delicious. We split two pizzas which were large for our group of five. The entrées on top of that were more than enough food. Also enjoy that evening. We had eggplant Parm, pasta carbonara and tortellini. Our server was great at explaining dishes and helping us make selections. The restaurant is a little warmer where we were seated near the pizza oven. The biggest negative was the person making the pizzas who understandably was hot, but did not want us to observe him even though he is in an open kitchen.

We had high expectations for Sebastian, but it ended up being one of the most frustrating dining…read moreexperiences we've had in Amsterdam. From the moment we started ordering, it felt like we were constantly being told "no." Multiple dishes on the menu weren't available to order, with little explanation or effort to offer alternatives. It was disappointing, especially when we had specifically come to try several of their signature items. The most bizarre part of the evening was the drink service. We asked for wines and liquors that were visibly displayed behind the bar, only to be told they were "reserved for the owner" and unavailable to paying guests. If bottles are on display in a restaurant bar but aren't actually available to customers, they shouldn't be presented as part of the experience. The staff wasn't rude, but the overall attitude came across as unaccommodating and dismissive. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were inconveniencing the restaurant simply by trying to order from the menu. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish, and we won't be returning. With so many incredible restaurants in Amsterdam that are happy to serve what's on their menu and behind their bar, it's hard to recommend Sebastian. Bar and restaurant staff continuously said "this is the worst day of my life."

I ordered the Tegliterri with Tonato and Fresh Burrata as well as the Lamb Chops.. and Lemon Spongecake for dessert. It was very good and flavorful. Il Pacioccone is a cozy spot in what looks like a historic building. We started with the bruschetta…read moreand meatballs. The bruschetta was simple but really fresh--the buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes had a lot of flavor. The meatballs came in a light tomato sauce and were tender, not overly dense. For mains, we had the tagliatelle ragu and the pappardelle with mushrooms. The pasta seems to be homemade--it's got that bite and texture. The duck ragu was rich and comforting, with just enough sauce to coat the noodles but not drown them. The pappardelle was a highlight--big, silky noodles tossed with mushrooms that actually tasted like mushrooms, not just something from a can. The flavors were earthy and balanced, and you could tell everything was cooked to order. Service was relaxed and friendly, which fit the mood of the place. However, it was slow given there was only two people working. It's the kind of restaurant where you can take your time and actually talk to whoever you're with.

The service and environment were friendly, and the food delivered. We enjoyed a Burrata tomato salad made with arugula, focaccia, penne pasta arriabata, and a rib eye steak. We also purchased a bottle of Italian wine, a barolo that was very nice. I will tell you that if we had drank more going to the bathroom, would've been a harrowing experience as the bathroom is located upstairs up a very narrow, steep stairwell. So, this Italian restaurant is very worthy of being considered while you're in downtown Amsterdam.
