If you like authentic Italian pizza Napoli style you had better stop in here while in Amsterdam, it is that good. The service was top notch from start to finish, and the pizza came out fast. We sat inside pretty much right across from the action at the pizza oven, so we took it all in. Best seat in the house, in my opinion, other than in fact being one of the four that makes the magic happen. One guy prepping the dough and putting the sauces on, one guy cooking in the round open pizza over and two guys topping after it's cooked. The entire process takes less than four minutes. The inside is not what you come for, but it's plainly appointed, don't really notice to be honest. Our Insalata Mista was very nice and certainly enough for the two of us, and the pizza Cappricciosa the same. A glass of house wine each and the bill was €42. I came here because it is supposed to be healthy. My waitress must have been new. She was clueless. She didn't understand what a gluten free crust was. I asked to have vegan cheese. She checked with the kitchen to make sure they could do that. She came back to say yes they could. The Pizza came with no cheese and was bland. I should have skipped. I have been to Loulou Pizzabar 3 times since I have been studying abroad in Amsterdam for the semester. Their pizza is to die for. The crust is perfect and the right amount of crispy and soft. Lots of times I go to restaurants and order a margherita pizza and it's just a cheese pizza. Loulous makes an authentic margherita pizza and it is perfect. Great pizza, excellent service. Reasonable prices. Everything is made to order. The wait staff was very pleasant and always asked how the food was. The Insalata Mista salad is huge for 9 Euros. The buffalo mozzarella tasted freshly made and was delicious. The pizzas are made to order and when we ordered ours to share, the pizza chef brought it out to the table already separated on two plates. How cool is that? This place is very busy and I recommend getting a reservation. We were there at 6 PM and were lucky to get a table for two with a promise we would be done by 7:30 as the table was reserved. Amazing gluten free pizza. The bartender (I sat at the bar) told me that they take extra care to not to cross contaminate the pizza in the kitchen to keep those with gluten issues safe. Had a great experience here! We came last minute during the dinner rush and the host was able to seat us right away. The tables are very close together so everyone tends to talk loudly to be heard over their neighbors. It was quite loud but not unbearable. My boyfriend had a mushroom pizza and enjoyed the cook on it but said the truffle oil was heavy handed and it was too rich for him to finish. I had the margarita and it was delicious. Definitely European style, not Italian or American coal fire. The service was quick and friendly and we didn't feel rushed although there was not an empty table in the house throughout much of our time there. The view outside is of the river and it's a great people watching spot if you are eating outside. Highly recommend!! read more
