Terrible service and high turnover with staff! I just spoke to Clara the manager. Both Michelle of Lincoln Park and Kiran of West Loop, have left SpaDerma. I called to be refunded my package(s) amount, as they are the two service providers I trust. Clara stated I would have to entrust someone else because they won't do any refunds. I am not sure if SpaDerma understands how hard it is when you find a skilled injector or aesthetician. I am beyond disappointed with the response of Clara and her professionalism. I would say, to try to go to @TheFitz to see Michelle or go to @NorthwesternMedSpa to see Kiran. I've been going to SpaDerma for about a year now for tattoo removal and have slowly started to explore other treatments, such a Botox. The staff is always friendly and helpful! The facility is clean and well maintained. The only thing I would change is that you cannot get multiple consultations in a visit- you have to book separately. I received the laser hair removal a few years back. The women kept saying my complexion was too dark to increase the laser (I'm Middle Eastern - with olive/brown tone). I did 9 session. Worst mistake of my life. My hair grew back thicker and stronger because they didn't use a strong laser after each session. I regret coming here and wasted money. I also had increased facial hair. It was bad. I went to a place further north. They were Assyrian. They were amazing and much cheaper! They took care of the mess this place did. I go here for laser hair removal which itself is good/I'm satisfied with but the customer service is what's lacking. I've had appointments abruptly canceled the day of but I was not notified until I arrived at the office, issues with scheduling where they have no record of appointments, poor handling of credits in my account, and I'm most recently disappointed with how they are handling rescheduling of COVID-19 appointments. I received no notification of being rescheduled, but when I called I was told that I was given a new date/time despite never receiving an email and when I asked for a confirmation they refused to send it to me because it is "subject to change." FANTASTIC place! Very technology oriented place with lots of friendly and helpful staff. As soon as I walked in I was checked in and given an iPad to simplify my first visit where I had to sign all wavers and to provide my medical history. Much easier than filling out thousands of papers with tiny fine print. When I returned an iPad, I was almost instantly asked to join the specialist in the room. Her name was Ashley and she seemed very pleasant from very beginning. As soon as I got in, we went over my previous experience with laser hair removal and my medical history as well. She was very informative and professional, explaining every step that she was going to do next. I had my first ever scultpra treatment with Dogmara. I've heard great things about the product and was excited to learn I would benefit from Sculptra. She was very good at explaining how the process worked, when I could see results, and follow up instructions. During the procedure she was very gentle, steady, and reassuring. Key pros: staff, staff, staff, service and types of services offered, location, product selection Services I got: laser hair removal, Botox, chemical peel I am not beauty obsessed and I don't have a 10 product/20 step ritual in the morning and guess what? They don't care. It's all about you and what you want and care about. I started going to SpaDerma after buying a Groupon for their laser hair removal package. I bought a Groupon once for a hair salon and that stylist didn't seem thrilled lol but not this place. I don't think they cared. And that was the big start to what go me more excited about coming here for beauty services. It's been a pleasant ride since. I expect to come to this place for as long as I shall live close enough. One DRAWBACK: They are expanding but you can't use the same offers across different locations: I've only used 4 of my 9 treatments for laser hair removal because I bought it in Lincoln Park location but now live too far and can only go to the West Loop location. BUYER BEWARE!!! I utilized Spa Derma for my facials, botox and other medical spa treatments for more than two years. When I was approached to use a product called Sculpta, like many patients, I not only asked about the result and the side effects, but I also inquired about the pricing. I was told by my esthetician that the service all in would be $2500 and take three sessions. I paid in full for the services in December 2023 and booked my three appointments to occur within the time frame that the esthetician stated would be a good time frame for me to receive the treatment. The price, results quoted and the time frame, including side effects seemed reasonable. When I went in November 2024 to receive the third and final treatment, I was told I had to pay an addition $2,009.00 more. When I inquired why the esthetician, who also sold me the product/treatment said, you paid for four vials and your treatment is not complete, that is why you don't see viable results. I reminded her that I did not buy "vials" per se, I bought a treatment package that was included to be three visits and a complete package. Given that my esthetician moved from the Lincoln Park location to the Wicker Park location and the front people had no idea who I was prior to that day, I respectfully asked to speak to a manager, who in turn was Michael Madonia. Michael later called me that day and began belittling me, yelling at me and accusing me of trying to take services for free. It was outrageous. I have literally spend five figures in that spa on a yearly basis. I was inquiring about the issue that they told me the entire price and then turned around and tried to charge me $2,009 more than what I negotiated for. I'm an attorney so I have a great memory of contracts and deals. When Michael Madonia couldn't get me to pay the additional fees nor would he refund me anything on the Sculpta, he offered me $250 credit for services already paid for that were in the pike. The $250 did not even constitute the amount they should have refunded for prepaid services. I have never in my life been treated so rudely by anyone in any business. Michael Madonia went so far as to accuse me of being rude to his staff. Given there are videos in the spa I challenged him to show me the video which he didn't have because it did not occur! I've been nothing but pleasant and usually very quiet when I am there as I have to talk for a living. My weekends are my down time and always when I visited. Be AWARE to ask for exactly the amount of vials they use, they charge you for and what the total process is. They will cheat you as they cheated me as you have no idea of the amount of product they use and it makes me question the large amount of money I have spent there in the past. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS. THEIR ADS ARE THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND CHEAT YOU. BUYER BEWARE. With hundreds of med spas in Chicago take your business elsewhere!!! I came to SpaDerma for laser hair removal on a recommendation from another esthetician, because at SpaDerma they have a higher power laser that is more appropriate for my Latina skin tone. I saw Meghan and had my upper lip, chin, underarms and Brazilian done. I was pretty nervous about being so exposed, but Meghan made me feel so safe and comfortable. We were able to joke and have fun while she was doing the laser service, really putting me at ease. The whole shebang took under an hour and they had a really good laser promo going on so it was less expensive than it could have been. Okay wow wow wowwwww!!! I had Botox by Michelle. She was recommended by a client of mine for her "conservative" touch. Let me preface this by saying that I lived in Los Angeles and worked in Beverly Hills for the past 12 years of my life. I've been getting Botox since I was 21 years old (I'm 31 now) so this ain't my first rodeo. When it comes to Botox and fillers I've had the great, I've had the good and I've also had the ::clears throat:: ugly....very very ugly....lesson? Stick with the great. Worth every penny. I was very nervous about getting my injections in Chicago. I'm coming from cosmetic capital of the world. But Michelle's bedside manner, professionalism and SKILL blew me away. The Botox has finally kicked in and it looks so good! My face is still mobile, not frozen stiff, even though I told her that it's okay if she freezes me. But I didn't have any bad feelings, no trust was broken. My skin was glowing because the hydrafacial machine does the amazing work at baseline and really hard to ***k up. Then on our a second date (aka 2nd appointment) I KNEW Courtney was the one. I came back from my trip to the west coast and my skin was really dry. I immediately scheduled an appointment (still hesitant, but I knew my skin was in dire need of help ASAP. Literally, walked in the room... Courtney assessed my skin and said all the buzz words I had in my head - "dryness, dull, exfoliation, need more hydration." Then she wooed me over with her amazing facial massage skills! It's a "thing" now (in LA at least) to get regular facial lymphatic massages and I literally felt that Courtney was doing that for my face. She's also so gentle with her hands that I fell asleep during the facial and basically woke up to my skin feeling like a baby's bottom. All in all, I'm taking Courtney out on a third date in 3 weeks. I recently visited SpaDerma for the first time and had my first micro needling treatment done with Marc. I have been wanting to try this treatment for a while and had heard amazing things, and can I say my skin looks SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!! I seriously feel like I had YEARS taken off of my skin. Feeling like a Sasquatch, I sought out SpaDerma for some serious downtown maintenance. Groupon came to my rescue with the kind of reasonable pricing I just had to snatch up for the savings alone. Electrolysis is not new to my lifestyle, and I successfully completed a series of treatments in the past. I don't believe that I need 9 more treatments, like the aesthetician recommended, but the 3 treatments I did get worked wonders on the discomfort I was experiencing while wearing clothes, specifically at the gym. I felt like I was working out with steel wool in my pants. I think most people like this place because it's clean and the women are generally attractive. I found a few things I was not fond of. First of all, I wanted to use numbing cream. The girl who helped me blew off my request, despite the fact that it meant me having to spend an extra $30 for a tube. She said the technology had changed and all SpaDerma recommended was ice. Of course I tolerated all 3 treatments with nothing to dull the pain and it wasn't hell, but it was far from being a comfortable experience. Especially when the girl is trying to force me to relax. It's kind of a metaphorical slap in the face. Obviously her job would have been easier all the way around if she had just sold me the the numbing cream. As a result, I didn't feel like they were all up in my lady parts enough to reach all of the areas when comparing my sessions to the same treatments I had elsewhere. In fact, my last session I had a different girl who didn't even use both hair removal tools to get what she needed to get. All around I was left feeling like I wasn't important. Maybe my discount I brought in set the tone for their level of service. I was lied to when I initially called SpaDerma and asked if they were offering any promotions on hair removal. When the receptionist told me no, I promptly went on Groupon and found the offer for 3 laser treatments. I also had to call back to confirm the size of the area with the girl on the phone, so I knew what offer to purchase. There are other offers from different places in the city through Groupon. Hopefully one just as clean, with better pricing, and a little more compassion toward the customer. Somewhere that doesn't make me feel judged for purchasing numbing cream by trying to dismiss its importance, insisting that I just take the pain would be nice too. Went yesterday for my first ever facial with the beautiful and talented Holly. From the moment you arrive you're greeted by the very welcoming reception desk staff. The signing up process is done quickly and easily on an iPad. Once I was signed up, Holly and I went to a private, well lit room to begin the facial. She made sure to explain the step by step process of the hydra facial and taught me ways to improve my current skin care routine using products that I already own as well as recommending some that they sell at the spa (ended up purchasing the PCA clear skin & SPF 45). I received Botox treatment in my forehead (52 units to be exact) in late Sept. and after less than 2 weeks, it had completely worn off. (Full movement of my forehead) That number of units of Botox should have me completely frozen for more than 3 months at a minimum. (I've had Botox many times before) This is due to them mixing their Botox with too much saline. I complained and requested a refund 3 weeks ago and nothing was ever refunded despite them acknowledging that they would credit my card. I complained a second time yesterday and have now received an ultimatum from this clinic, "requiring" me to sign a full waiver before they will consider refunding my money. 1. You had a chance to do the right thing and provide me with the service I paid for 2. You had a second chance to do the right thing 3 weeks ago by refunding my money 3. Refusing to refund my money until I agree to sign a waiver so you can sweep your shady behavior under the rug is beyond unprofessional. No legit business would do this, so you've validated my accusation with your response. This is unacceptable and fraudulent business practice. If they are doing this to me, then they're likely doing it to other patients. I am reporting them to several agencies for investigation and will be pursuing them legally. **Update: I received another message from their customer service again trying to cover themselves by not admitting any wrongdoing but said they would credit my card for the treatment. That was several days ago but nothing has been credited. They also want me to remove my review so obviously what I've said is true for them to go to such lengths to try to cover up. I was "Botox-shamed" at a house party this past weekend. I was talking about just having my forehead done and another woman overheard me and kept insisting that "women don't need Botox" and I was beautiful without it. She then insisted that I was "too young for Botox". I responded with "I'm going to be 36 in 3 months. I think everyone should start getting treated in their 30's". This made her more angry. "So, I'm 36. Are you saying I need botox?" What I was thinking: We are the same age. You look like you're 46, I look like I'm 26. What I said: "I think everyone should do whatever makes them happy and not judge other people for their personal choices." She explained the process in detail and even chose the laser for my skin type. She talked with me during the lasering to distract from the discomfort which was really appreciated.
