This particular time around wasn't my first at Spade's but this particular review will reflect my most recent visit. I wanted to upgrade my car with a remote start and called and asked for pricing. Spade's was right in line with a few other installers that I had priced but the equipment they were using was something that I felt more comfortable with than what some others were using. Also, after reading reviews of some of the bad install jobs that The Geek Squad had done I decided to steer clear of Best Buy. Install a previously purchased car amplifier and a previously purchased subwoofer cabinet containing 2-12 inch subwoofers. where should I start first of all? I am no car stereo installer but I have done many of my own. It just so happened. I was very very busy with work and I wanted the system installed so I had to find an installer well this was a big mistake. Just to do the install which meant running a line converter actually put in the subs in the trunk and connecting the amp $850. all the work was done in the trunk. They didn't have to run the main power of the wire up or anything so it wasn't difficult so I had a few months started having problems with it so I had the time so I went ahead and got in here and seeing what was going on. The line converter they put in there melted! that could've caused a car fire. The next biggy I seen was 50ft of rca cable that was bunched up and stuffed underneath the service area in the trunk. Both the line converter and the RCA cables could've probably been purchased on Temu for $1.50 they were that cheap. That prompted me to just undo everything they did and redo it and man was it a mess the cheapest stuff you could think of they used and horrible at running wires and hiding this and putting the all the interior panels back together is a horrible job all the way around. they didn't quote me on the job originally they said well you know it depends on how much work it is. I don't think that should've included four hours worth of breaks for two people anyway either way, believe me it wasn't $850 worth of work if I do it for somebody I would probably charge them 150+ wire and line converter which would've been a different line converter of course. That said I wouldn't let them work on somebody's car that I didn't like. Worst experience I ever had in a car stereo store of any caliber. I would be glad to give him a zero but you have to do at least a one. I have been taking my vehicles to Spade for years. I don't trust anyone else in the area. From tint to remote starts to alarms to exhaust to wheels and tires and everything in between! Spade is awesome! It can be a bit pricey but when it comes to my cars, I am willing to pay a bit more as long as I know it's going to be done right! I had an appointment today at 11am to have my Mazda3 tinted. As usual, my review will be split into two categories and averaged out. CUSTOMER SERVICE The customer service here was phenomenal. I got a call an hour before my appointment because there was a cancellation and they wanted to give me the opportunity to go in early. I liked this because I definitely wanted the job done ASAP. When I arrived, being a first time customer, I was impressed by the music, the displays and "eye candy" they have in the main lobby and waiting area, definitely shows that they are geared toward styling. I was greeted by a man named Cody, I believe, who was really nice and made sure there was no miscommunication between what I wanted done to my car and what they were going to do to my car. After we were done discussing the work to be done on the car, he proceeded to show me where the waiting room was (which was very spacious and a pleasure to be in) and told me how to access their guest wireless internet. The guest wireless internet definitely helped time pass by. I went in around 10:45am and was out by 12:15pm, so overall the wait wasn't bad. Plus during the wait I was able to generate small talk with various front desk workers, which I found ver pleasent. When it was time to leave, the same guy that greeted me also cashed me out. He made sure I knew what to do and what not to do in order to keep my tint looking prestine. This helps customers that are new to the process keep their investment looking nice. My overall customer service experience was a 4 out of 5 stars. The loss of the fifth star was because I really wished they would've taken me outside and showed me with a VLT meter the levels of my Windows (since they didn't generate any kind of tint certificate for me). Just to verify that everything is up to the customers standard before they complete the transaction by paying. Other than that, my experience was amazing. QUALITY OF WORK I can't really say too much on this, since I JUST got home with the car. However, right now, it looks amazing. No streaks, no bubbles and no tears. Definately looks professionally done. (See pictures). I will be taking the precautions they told me to take in order to keep this look which were: -do NOT roll Windows down for 3 or 4 days to allow full adhesion. -do not clean with ammonia based liquids. If the quality changes within the 4 days while I'm taking their precautions I will write another review, but as of now, I am VERY pleased by the look of my car from the work they did. I'll give a 5 of 5 stars. OVERALL EXPERIENCE With the minor con in the customer service section I would say I'll give a 4 of 5 stars. Granted I've heard some horror stories from my friends about this place I still decided to go. So far I'm very pleased to have gone mainly for reviewing purposes. Although I found their rates to be very expensive (I walked out paying $170 for my whole car being tinted but the windshield), But if the quality holds up, its well worth the money I paid. I called to schedule an appointment and waited 35 mins to speak to someone which no big deal Covid being short staff I get it. They booked a month out. I waited due to Spade being one of the best in town. The service turn around time was fine they only took two hours. However I requested the limo tent for my sun strip and they did the it the same as my windows and the sun strip is shorter then anyone else's I know that has been done. I tried to get use to it but it is so short that it defeats the purpose of a sun strip. I called and explained that I was not happy with it and they told me they would charge me 60.00 . 30 to take off the current strip and 30 to replace it. I feel like if it was the color I asked for and was still the same length maybe it would look better. The guy I spoke to said that the computer picks the size base off the car. I explained that this information was not told to me when dropping off the car and how can I make a decision based off of information I don't have. I'm not happy with it at all. read more

Super honest! They installed our remote start in our 2014 Tundra. I purchased a 2016 Tundra from a local Toyota dealer Oct. 2021. Priced the dealership to install the remote start, but decided to return to Spades as we've had NO issues with our 2014. Stopped in and made an appointment for a complete install (approx $479 for the model chose, many other options to chose from). Received a text reminder for the appointment. Arrived for my appointment, completed the paperwork , and took a seat. About 25 minutes later.. I hear "Hey Stef, did you know that your truck already has a remote start?". Spades could've taken advantage of me as I wasn't told that my truck had a remote start. The factory fob doesn't have the extra button either.. As the tech explained to me, just hit "lock" 3times and it starts! Thank you Spades for being honest. In this day and age, that's hard to find! I'd recommend this company to my friends! My first and only experience with them wasn't good. Made and appt to get 2 cars windows tinted for a month after I called. That same moment I took that day off work. 3 days before my appt they call to confirm my appt's but for the wrong day. They had moved my appt up and didnt say anything. Now its, "oh we're sorry. We can reschedule you for a month later." Save yourself the hassle, go somewhere else. read more

Rude and arrogant when I called. Talked to some friends about a recommendation to get my windows retinted and not a single person recommended this place because they had the same experience I had. When they called the employee sounded like it was an inconvenience to give them a quote or even do the work. I attempted to make an appointment for all of my windows to be tinted and the guy said they were booked out 3 weeks. I said that's fine, just let me know what the soonest is I can get in there and his response was "we don't book out 3 weeks. You have to call back periodically and try to get in." So I went to S&T Detailing on Compton Rd. and was able to get my windows done within 3 days for a better price and better customer service. I wouldn't recommend this Spade place to anybody. read more

Have been there a handful of times now. Spade ALWAYS goes above and beyond. I misplaced my lug nut locking key and couldn't remove my aftermarket wheels. A quick call to Scott and he was more than happy to help. I sent him some photos of my lug nuts, and he replied back to the email within 5 min. (Fast!) Scott offered up his personal lug nut key literally from his own car, beacuse I had to get my rear brakes replaced today/asap and couldn't wait. I don't know many people who would be willing to step up like that. Previously, I had catback exhuast installed on my Audi and it's been over a year or two now, and I've had zero issues. read more

I was assured by the cashiers that a new stereo and speakers into a BMW was no problem. They said it would take about 2 hours to do. It took them 6.5 hours!!! And when the installer was done neither cashier was around to ring me up, adding another 10 minutes to a long day. The FM reception was bad and AM did not exist. I returned to have them fix the FM/AM reception and was told that I would have to buy another antenna! I thought they would be able to handle a simple stereo/speaker installation! I thought with all of the Bengal jerseys and pictures of 22"s on the wall that they could handle a stereo install into a BMW. I was wrong!!! I will never go there again!!!! read more

I have been a customer for several years. I got my windows tinted several years ago. My information is still in their system. I scheduled a appt for a automatic starter and asked if they could fix my rear window because it bubbled up. I was told I need the original receipt. If I was told when I made the original purchase to KEEP my receipt I would have placed the receipt in my glove box with all the other important vehicle information. I asked to speak with a supv, he was just as nonchalant as the female who responded, "people have their receipts from 2010". My entire family are customers here. Not anymore, I cancelled my appointment and will go far out before I support a business who could careless. I could even understand if they had no information of my prior visit-but they did. BEWARE!!! I happily scheduled an appointment somewhere else. Businesses are getting away with horrible customer service, treating people as if their business does not matter. Perfect example! I just recently started going to this place for custom work. Seeing the rides they worked on was showed me they're the real deal. Spade doesn't mind to install aftermarket parts from other stores or online, unlike other shops that only install parts purchased from them. They do a great job for fair price. They're store is like something you would see in a movie. I had some cross drilled rotors and HID bulbs installed I couldn't get to, while there I asked if they would check a rattling on front driver suspension that a previous shop said I need bushings for. Turned out it was just a bolt fell out of the suspension and Spade replaced for a fraction of the cost what the previous shop told me was the problem. I'll definitely be going back for more custom work and upgrades. read more

Have had 2 experiences there with window tinting. The first one they had to redo my drivers window 3 times due to not covering it completly. The second time I called 3 weeks in advance to setup a time to bring my show truck in to get windows tinted. I confirmed date 2x while on the phone with Matt. He ended up scheduling me for a different day and could not accommodate my original appointment that I set up to be off work. They are very unorganized and rude if you have a problem with there work. I will not return or recommend them to anyone for window tinting. read more

I would have given three star but the test next to the rating said " A OK!" and that not a perfect fit. Okay work wise ,everyone knows spades does some good work ,but on the flipside, the prices are ridiculous. I had them install some HID bulbs / kits for me and the lights have already went out. They should not have . I ask them how much would it cost to hook up the machine to tell me whats wrong. All of which should take literally minutes. 30 minutes to shoot high if there is horse play involved and they are taking their sweet ass time. Then replacement parts for the kits are ridiculous . to replace the ballast is 159.99 plus their charger of 70 and hour. To find out whats wrong is not even an hour worth of work. but 70 to 159.99 = 229.99 not including tax. the kit would have come with a 60 day warranty . yes! a 60 day warranty!!! so they said but the 299.99 that installation and everything which still has a 60 day warrant unless you buy the 499.99 kit that comes with a two year warranty. I like their work but to get it done you are going to break the bank with them. I called around and found another place that will charge me 100 for the kit and 40 in labor! literally half the price with 3x the warranty. It in Mason. What?!?! I save 150 by shopping around. Sucks cause I like there work but until their prices are a bit more reasonable I will stick to finding alternatives (cheaper alternatives with equal or greater quality). Then to boot the workers are blunt and stern. I ask how much to get the kit installed , the man said ," dude, 70 bucks and hour ." and hung up the phone. DIdnt ask if i wanted to pursue the purchase or anything i had to call back several times to finally get a full conversation finished. I will not be going back. until the prices drop and more appreciation for their customers are in plain sight. read more

My wife brought my car here to get my windows tinted as I was working a lot of overtime, having a family member grow up with the owner I figured why not give them a try. I was mistaken, I have lots of friends and relatives in the automotive world I could've had my windows tinted for less and better quality. Although being impatient as usual I went ahead and went here instead of wait a few weeks. Lesson learned, my car was brought back here three times (45 minute drive one way) to get the rear hatchback window re done. Some how the first go at it they had bubbles everywhere these things happen so I went with it. Second time she drove it again because I was at work and apparently in about ten minutes they had another go at it and said its good, yet again bubbles, everywhere. So after calling and explaining my frustration with the low quality product, and the disrespect my wife got while working there from most the guys working there I came a third time. This time tint looks good until you lift the hatch and see the sheet of tint was cut from a clown who takes no craftsmenship in his job. Not sure what kind of operation they're running there but after talking to my wife the way they did and giving me this run around I'll be looking into other options. Asking her if she isn't supposed to be driving my car after she complains about having to come back three times when I would bet my months pay that she could out drive any one of those clowns. And then asking her "why she's going back to the bathroom so much" well she's pregnant so that could be one reason. Once again not any of their business. We had a remote start installed in our vehicle. We have had nothing but problems with it. We've had to take the car back there at least twice for them to diagnose the problem. The problem is fixed temporarily, then occurs again. We asked if they could just remove the remote start and give us a refund, and they refused. Just recently, we started having problems again. They no longer do installations or diagnostics on Saturdays. We work Monday-Friday, so Saturday is the only day we can take the car there. We are at a loss as to what we are going to do now. read more

I took my Ferrari 360 Modena to Spade Creations a couple of weeks ago to upgrade my sound system... Now the real sound system on a ferrari is in the back of the car but I still wanted some better quality music up front! My biggest requirement was that the install was 100% stealth. Everything needed to look like it was stock. I had my door speakers changed out to a very nice set of Focal 6.5" components with 1" tweeter. The door had to be modified a bit behind the trim panel to make these fit but they used the stock grill and everything looks great. Also added a tiny amp under the radio in the front that is not visible. The sound is excellent, crystal clear and loud enough for my car and I can only recommend Spade Kreations for anyone who wants quality work done. I did alot of research before I decided on Spade after alot of my friends on Facebook recommended Rick and his gang! Great job! read more

Horrible customer service. I have a 2009 Audi a8 stopped by for a quote for a paint job. First off I stood around in the showroom for 5 minutes before someone came to counter. I walked around while the customer before me was arguing about a price agreed on was 500 dollars more when the service was completed and the completion date was a week over due. That gentleman left without his vehicle in frustration. So when I was finally approached the salesman quickly shot off a outrageous number with out asking any color information at all. The price was double any of the 4 other quotes i had received from well established custom painter locally. I then proceeded to ask why the higher price and there only response was "we're the best " with really no explanation on why there process or products was better than the written quotes I received from his competitors. Truthfully I had more knowledge on painting processes and new products than the salesman. I do my research as a savvy customer. I really felt that because I was price shopping and value my hard earned money the salesman was really not interested in working for the sale. They really just want you to pick a color and drop the outrageous price the ask. The final straw was I asked to see their paint facilities and where the work would be performed. There building is relatively small. The salesman Kinda beat around the bush and said they had another location for painting. Upon further questioning the truth comes out that they DONT EVEN DO ANY PAINTING THEY SUBCONTRACT IT OUT TO OTHER LOCAL SHOPS AND MARK IT UP !!!! What a joke. I would never have this place touch any of my cars. read more
