High marks for Schmoe's in regards to price, speed of service, and the quality of my car's repair…read more My car was in-and-out in about a half a day for a non-critical minor repair, that was more of an annoyance than anything. Getting my car in to get service was more of a challenge than I would have liked. Schmoe's was recommended to me by another shop. I initially tried to get the repair done in early March and was told to bring my car in for them to take a look. I brought it in and was told that they would have to keep it, possibly for a few days. At the time, this wasn't an option for me, so I deferred and decided to shop around. Other places offered to do my repair more expeditiously, but at a pretty high cost. After a few months, and realizing the prices elsewhere would be higher than I'd like them to be, I came back around to Schmoe's. I finally was able to drop the car off for a few days, so I called to schedule an appointment. I was then told that they would need more information about my vehicle to even get an estimate, and that I would have to bring it in and leave it there for a few days. I relented, and asked what they actually needed to know to get the estimate. With that knowledge, some pictures of my car, and some diagrams I found online, I was able to get an estimate and was happy to find it $100 less than the most affordable one I had received. Happy with the affordability, I asked to bring the car in. I was then informed that they didn't have any appointments available for a few weeks. I confirmed that it was an acceptable time frame for me and scheduled the appointment. When I showed up, they knew nothing about it, but they were familiar with the person who had made my appointment and told me he was on vacation... I informed them as to what needed to be done and they agreed to take a look at it, as long as I could leave it there for a few days, if necessary. I guess that's a reoccurring theme with Schmoe's. They called me back a few hours later and said it was fixed. The final price saved me hundreds of dollars, so I can't complain. I suppose that if you are familiar with their modus operandi you'll probably be a lifelong fan of these guys, but if you're not, I would suggest packing your patience.

Some of the wires broke apparently in the tire. I did not believe that at first and I did not see any indication of any thing wrong with my tires, but I went along with what they said because they are the professionals. I picked my car up after the new tires were installed.. driving down harrison It had the same rattling at 40 mph. I called them irritated and said did you test drive this vehicle? They said they did which I dont believe. . long story short they said the problem is my drive train is worn out and I need a new one. they claim that two different problems were causing the vibration. the likelihood in my opinion of having two different issues causing the same problem is pretty much unbelievable the reality is they either misdiagnosed the problem or they are crooked. either way I don't want anything to do with them again. I bought four new tires at $862 which i believe were not needed. That they conveniently profited from.

Warning about Bill's Auto Repair & Towing Service…read more I want to share my son's experience with Bill's Auto Repair & Towing Service so others know what they may be dealing with. My son was in an automobile accident Friday evening. The police called Bill's to remove the vehicle from the scene. We have roadside assistance, but I understand that police can require a vehicle to be removed immediately for safety reasons. When Bill's arrived, the driver said the car was going to their impound lot. My son asked about having it towed elsewhere. He was told that would cost $250 plus mileage, and the driver convinced him it would be cheaper to have the car taken to Bill's garage, where he was told he could pick it up the next day. What he was not told was that the garage would be closed for the entire weekend. When he was finally able to get the vehicle today, his bill was $328.79, including $25 per day in storage fees while the business was closed. They also initially attempted to charge him an additional $100 in mileage because the tow-truck driver had been pulled away from another job at Kings Toyota and wanted to charge my son for the driver's travel to and from that job. After disputing it, that charge was removed. On top of all of this, they would not accept a credit or debit card. They required payment in cash. My issue isn't that a tow company charged for towing and storage. My issue is how this was handled: my son had just been in an accident, was told taking the vehicle to their garage would be the cheaper option and that he could retrieve it the next day, wasn't told they would be closed all weekend while storage charges accumulated, and then faced an attempted additional $100 mileage charge unrelated to towing his vehicle. I would strongly recommend that anyone dealing with Bill's Auto Repair & Towing Service get the full towing charge, destination, storage fees, business hours, and payment requirements in writing before allowing them to take your vehicle.

Keep in mind this is a very small area on the side of my car that was done wrongly not once, but twice. After the second time, I called and spoke to the manager. He denied any issue with the quality of work that was given and requested photos to show the issue. He failed to contact me back and I went through my insurance regarding the issues with Woods. They have since been taken off Nation Wides list of shops they work through. I will include photos to show the lack of quality. I rarely write negative reviews, especially for small businesses, but my experience with this…read morerepair shop has been frustrating. Over the course of a year for a single passenger side body repair, I had to return multiple times to the shop and make over a dozen phone calls. The main issues were quality of work and customer service. Quality of Work: Several items from my insurance claim were missed during the initial repair, and even after the repairs were done in stages, I experienced recurring issues (e.g., electronics malfunctioning) only after driving the car off the lot. Customer Service: Communication was poor, with a lack of clarity on timing expectations for a replacement for a faulty part included in the original fix. Despite the shop eventually accommodating me once the part arrived (something I only learned by calling them myself), I faced further frustration when issues continued after the repair, when I drove off the lot. When I suggested they test cars in motion to avoid rework, I was dismissed as not being an "expert" and told to sit and wait, which I did for an additional hour, while this new issue was being fixed. Additionally, my car was always returned dirtier than when I dropped it off. In short, if you're considering Wood's Collision, proceed with caution. Document everything and be prepared for poor communication and potential rework. I could have just had bad luck, but felt the need to share my experience with others.
