I received a gift card for this place and so called to make an appointment for a pedicure and a shellac manicure. When I arrived, I was impressed by the look of this salon. It was clean and well decorated and they had a good selection of nail colours. The staff greeted me with a friendly demeanour and I was guided to a pedicure chair where one lady worked on my hands and the other worked on my feet.
Unfortunately, my good impressions did not last long. Within minutes, the ladies were chatting vigorously and yelling loudly to eachother from the front of the salon to the back. A man came by to drop something off, I soon realized he was dropping off pay cheques because some of the ladies were laughing, passing around envelopes and jumping up and down. When I had arrived, there had been another patron in the salon, but now I was alone. I began to realize that the jovial air going around was because the salon was about to close for the day and I was the last person in it. Shortly after this realization, a third lady came to work hastily on my other hand, then on my feet. I had picked a flourescent colour which clearly needed three coats instead of two, however by the time I glanced down to see how it looked during the frenzy of all three women going to town on around me, the lady painting my toes had already put a top coat on after two coats and was busy cleaning blobs of polish off from my cuticles where she had missed due to rushing.
Around me, several other women were talking loudly, emptying garbage cans, putting things away and impatiently watching closely to see how much "progress" had been done on me (making me realize I was clearly holding everybody up).
At that point, I did not consider it worth complaining because I could genuinely understand the desire of any hot-blooded human being to get out of work during a beautiful early summer Friday evening. However, I walked out of this spa with no doubt that
A. I would NEVER return and
B. This was the worst manicure and pedicure I have received in the last 10 years (and that says a LOT, because I faithfully get my nails done twice a month). There was no attention to detail, several mistakes and more importantly - I really felt I was made to feel like an inconvenience despite the fact that I called in advance to book my appointment and they had agreed to see me at that time.
My advice is to take your money and go somewhere else. read more
