I only have good things to say. We arrived a little before our massage time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner is a very nice woman, and she gives you chocolate when you leave.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is a little puppy but it's very very sweet and I loved it. I have some health issues so when I told Derek that I only like medium pressure, he listened. He really helped my muscle spasms in my neck and he was a wonderful masseuse. My husband had Linda and said she was very aggressive but it was a "hurts so good" kind of massage for him. The place smelled very nice and the music was perfect in the rooms. I came in for a massage a few weeks ago. The location itself is right downtown, which is nice. The spa is cute and cozy. They have a cute little dog who is happy to greet you when you arrive. I scheduled a 90 min massage. The massage room was nice and dark which I like. The massage was relaxing. When it was time to pay, I had a gift card. It was expired but the owner still accepted the gift card, which I really appreciated. The only reason I took a star off is because there were no candles or essential oils used when I was getting my massage. The room smelled like wet tennis shoes, which wasn't great. I wish they would have used some kind of aromatherapy scents like I've had at other spas I've been to. Other than that, this is a great little spa and I would visit her again. read more

Thorough , feels very clean afterwards, and relaxing ! He has 20+ years of experience, and it shows ! I had an 11:00 detox wrap this past week. I arrived 10 minutes early in case I needed to fill out paperwork. No one was at the desk to greet me to I stood around for 10-15 minutes until greeted. After finally being greeted, I was asked to move to a second sitting/waiting area where I continued to sit for another 10-15 minutes before being taken upstairs for my service. I do like the ambiance of the space. They have a great location and I love the decor, soft lighting, candles, water, etc. The bathroom upstairs is bright and nice with lots of towels and a shower to use. I did not like the service I received (a detox wrap). I thought the bed was ice cold, the single small towel she laid over my body while rubbing the wrap onto me felt cheap and thin. After she placed the detox mask on me and wrapped me up, it felt like I was in the arctic. I was SO cold - my teeth were chattering and I was counting down the minutes until I was done with this service. It was that bad. When I asked why it was so cold, I was told it's menthol and has a heating (when? where? not here) and cooling affect. She did get a hot towel and placed them on my feet. It scalded/burned at first (too hot), but then felt good after it cooled down. Thank goodness for the warm shower I was told to take afterwards. A few other things I didn't like: the shared bathroom (jack and jilled) which was confusing. And there were some loud people laughing in the room next door during my service. The woman who did my wrap was very nice and I liked her a lot - but I was underwhelmed by the experience and the price tag is very high. There were portions where she rubbed my shoulders/neck and it felt like she would be a wonderful masseuse. I had already booked a second one for this Thursday and wanted to think about if I should return. I called Tuesday at 4 pm (well before their 8 pm closing) to cancel. No one picked up, so I left a message saying that I wanted to cancel before 24 hours so I do not get charged a cancellation fee. Here we are -- 10:30 a.m. the next day and no response. I've called 3 times this morning and it rings and rings then says "memory full. please enter the remote access code." and does not give the option to leave a message. Needless to say, I am not impressed. And I will am praying I don't get charged with a cancellation fee. read more

My first time coming here. I had booked on-line with Jennifer for a massage and Linda for a facial. I was looking forward to getting a massage from Jennifer based on her on-line bio. Instead, I was told upon arrival that I was getting both the massage and facial with Linda. She combined the facial treatments with the massage instead of separating the 2 treatments. My visit was on Tuesday 10/16/18 I'm not sure who my tech was and I'm from out of town. I had a pedicure and gel manicure. While the ambiance and massage were amazing, my nails came out awful. The paint on my toes looked like a child did it and the gel on my nails bubbled up and there was no paint on some of the sides. Very disappointed for the price I paid. read more

An easy 15 min walk from the Renaissance Pittsburgh via Penn Ave/Stanwix. Nice looking and welcoming from the outside as well as brochures available by the entry. My appt was at 10am, so I arrived about 20 minutes early in case I needed to fill out paper work. They door was still locked, but the building owner was right there and he called in to them to let them know I was outside. Very friendly guy and gave me some restaurants options as well while we waited. Inside is very clean, with a nice pop of colors. They carry Eminence skincare line. The staff is super friendly, especially the small poodle that greeted me with barks of interest as I came inside. I told him no barking during my massage, but he didn't listen. The receptionist (who also owns the dog) was very nice and offered me my choice of teas or water. About 10:15 I was taken into the room to make myself comfortable. The dog stayed with me, but left when the therapist came in. My appt started rather late at about 25 after. Luckily I wasn't on a schedule, but this could have been a problem, and my sweetie was wondering why I was so late getting back afterwards. I did have a 90-min massage scheduled, and she went close to that, so I didn't feel shorted. Thank goodness the British Open was on to keep him occupied. My therapist was Portia and she was very friendly. Although my muscles needed the pressure (which was good throughout), I was a disappointed in her lack of variety in massage techniques. Throughout most of the massage she would use the same technique (raking across the adhesion) 10-15 times (I counted), without any holding or compression of it. As I said, I needed the pressure, but without more variety in technique I left with my skin sore. Even two days later when my sweetie would pat my shoulder or back, I'd wince a bit because of the tenderness of my skin. There were a few other distractions - heavy, clomping footwear going all around and up and down the stairs, washing and putting away dishes next to the massage room, barking dog, fast music that would cut off suddenly and then another song would come on, it would be very loud (to drown out the dog?) and then get turned down and up again - nothing that was truly relaxing. I think that this is a good place to go, although I'd like to try a different therapist. I think that they should have more awareness of some of the little things I mentioned to take it up a notch. read more

My experiences with Spa Jema have been great. I regularly have eyelash tint, eye, chin and lip waxes with Julee. She is excellent- thorough, gentle (of course it isn't pain free) and professional. I would recommend her to my most particular friends. I've also had a massage with Porsche and it was amazing. I had nagging neck and shoulder pain for months- massages at two other places and regular chiropractic adjustments. Porsche was very thorough and methodical in her approach and uncovered the origin of my problem which was referring pain elsewhere. Everyone else simply treated the site of my pain and never bothered to investigate why I wasn't improving. read more

Long wait even though we had an appointment well in advance. Two terribly loud & aggressive dogs. One of the dogs tried taking something out of my purse and I tried to push it away when it turned back and bit me so hard it took off a nail. My finger was swollen for 2 days. No one was there to watch over the dogs and no food was involved. This place is so relaxing and Jennifer has magical hands, fingers, etc. I had a hot stone massage because I just love the way they feel, and this massage did not disappoint. She also found all of my trouble areas and got them to relax in a way they haven't in awhile. The music and vibe are cool, too. A bit eclectic, not quite the norm, but excellent all the same. Lee, the hair stylist there is the best! It took me so long to find a stylist in Pittsburgh that I wanted to stick with, Lee has now been making my curly head of hair look the best it can for about 4 years. He's really great at listening to exactly what you want and doing it, and also skilled enough that if youre not sure what would look good he'll be able to come up with just the right style for you. Lee is also really great at teaching you how to style your new do. The salon is very clean, and has a nice calming spa atmosphere, definitely a relaxing experience. First of all I'm not sure if this is a professional Place not sure even if they aesthetic and masseuses are licensed I went in with my daughter and they asked me if I would share a room with her because it was on a Saturday and they were busy I told them I would and would like to have two females because my daughter was younger when I got there They gave her a Mail and he totally kept her buttocks area uncovered even when he was doing limbs which I thought was very unprofessional you should be discreet when you do this when you're getting a full body massage also my girl refused to do feet and hands on my full body massage even after I asked twice I believe she acted like she didn't hear me finally at the end I said oh you don't do feet and hands and she grab my hands and did them for a minute but no feet it was the worst experience ever I would just like to say that anybody considering spending $100 for a full body massage go to a true Day spa please!! read more

I don't remember who did my wax, but she was terrible. And I have had many many waxes. Not only was I burned (and had a scab for 5 days afterwards), but I had to give her a tip on how to wax the top part of the bikini and ask her to stop after she couldn't figure out how to properly set-up most strips.
