Our experience at Spa Jema was not 100% terrible. We enjoyed our day and most of the services. The only service that was awful was our mani/pedi done with Paige. It was painful, no nail soak, no filing, no hand massage. All she did was rip cuticles off and paint your nails. For the price of the package I expected more for the mani/pedi. The group of us enjoyed the facial and massage. Someone in our group did leave their purse unattended and cash from their purse went missing while she was being pampered. We know which employee went in and stole money out of her purse. read more

Would NOT recommend! I had a terrible experience last weekend. It was my birthday, and I wanted to treat myself with an hour & a half massage. I was under the impression that Spa Jema was a commercial spa, but it is run out of someone's home. I arrived about 15 mins early as that is generally expected when trying out a new spa. The owner, Jen, seemed frustrated that I arrived early. I was also met by barking dogs, loud workers installing a bath tub on the first floor, and an upset three year old whose mother was my masseuse. Don't get me wrong - I have a dog and a 9 mo baby that I LOVE, but I needed time to myself, time to relax. Nothing about the experience was relaxing. It was noisy the whole way through. It also felt dirty to me - dirty toilets, dirty sinks, the massage sheets felt dirty. I think the worst part was that the owner was completely unapologetic. The massage itself was okay, but the experience ruined it. It was the worst experience I've ever had, and I've had a lot of massages. read more

My wife and I enjoyed our third couples' massage at Spa Jema over the last few years. As before, it was amazing. Portia was my therapist and Jen was my wife's. We both couldn't be happier. GO HERE! I'm in town for a wedding and I wanted to get a body wrap. Everywhere I called downtown said they did not have an esthetician to do a wrap. Found this place. What a find. It is in an older building and has been beautifully refurbished. The spa is tasteful, serene and cozy. The owner, Jennifer, is a delightful young woman and the experience was flawless. My boyfriend and I came here for facials and a couples massage. They were able to do our facials at the same time and had a room with 2 tables for our couples massage. The atmosphere was very tranquil in this older home, turned into a spa. The facial and massage were wonderful and we really enjoyed sitting in the sauna. read more

This is one of the BEST massages I have ever had in my LIFE. I went there 3/1 and was able to book a couples massage on Sunday very easily. They called me Sunday and asked if I wanted to come in a little early, which we did. Very nice building, parking was easily accessible-even in the snow that we got. Check-in was easy and fast. We were lead upstairs to a very nice, dimly lit area for the couples massage. Nice relaxing music, comfortable temp. THe dog was around but he was super friendly and extremely quiet. Not a peep during the massage. Jen massaged myself and she was GREAT. Very attentive to the tension in my upper back and spent extra time on my problem areas. My companions massage was so good that he fell asleep! Prices were defiantly affordable and if I am ever in Pittsburgh I would return for another massage! read more

I had the pleasure of having a girls day at Spa Jema with my mother and sister. When we arrived we were greeted by Wolf. (If you have visited there then you will know who I am talking about) The whole staff was extremely friendly, professional and concerned with our comfort.I was overwhelmed by the amount of knowledge and experise each of the staff members have. They were all strategically based and performed well above average, in their area of pampering. It was a very relaxed and comforting environment. We were there all day and never felt rushed. I recently attended a bachelorette girls day out at Spa Jema in Pittsburgh. We could not have had a better experience! Starting with the planning process, Jennifer was so great and accomodating in answering all the questions that I had. We were able to bring our own food/champagne and relaxed in a lounge in between services. The spa was clean, modern, and inviting. All 5 of us ladies had different services, including massages and manicures. We all left saying "wow, that was the best spa I've ever been to." It was an incredible experience and I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for a group spa experience, special occasion, or just a regular Saturday pedi/mani. Krista's gel mani is made for the red carpet. She did my nails two weeks ago and they still look amazing. The environment is so relaxing - a true oasis in downtown. My only regret is I didn't find this jewel sooner. Can't wait to sample the other services offered. read more

I was recently at Spa Jema to receive a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was fabulous and relaxing however a different girl did my manicure, I believe her name was DeeDee. Let me just tell you how awful this manicure was. My cuticles weren't even pushed back, the polished chipped 5 minutes after I left the place, and they were hardly filed or buffed. The price of the manicure is insane for the horrendous job that was done on my nails. I paid extra to get the paraffin wax treatment which was nice. My friends who didn't pay extra never got lotion or any sort of hand massage. The manicure itself was probably a 5 minute treatment. DeeDee was not concerned with doing a good job, she just wanted to get out of there and go home. read more

I went to this spa for a facial and massage and both were amazing! Linda is the best facialist I have ever had in my life. She also massages your neck/ back and arms during the facial and it was the most relaxing hour of my life. Not to mention my skin had never looked better. It was literally glowing. She uses the best skin care products from the eminence line which also helps. Jen gave me the massage. The massage also was fantastic. The music was so relaxing I actually wanted the playlist. In addition, Jen listens extremely well, as I like a very hard (deep tissue massage) and she was able to deliver. Great spa, I will definitely go again! read more

I've been under a lot of stress at work and was in town for a conference at the convention center and found this spa on yelp. I was able to make a "short notice" appointment for a massage. The spa was an easy 10 minute walk from the convention center. The therapist was pleasant and the massage was awesome. I wish i was in town longer to make another appointment. Called on a Friday morning to book appointment for a couples massage on Saturday and nothing was available, understandable. I put us on the cancellation list just in case. Saturday morning I get a call stating an appointment was available at 4:45pm to accommodate my request. Fast forward to 2:22pm, as we are checking into our hotel an hour and a half away from home, I get a call from Lynda stating that there is no therapist available for the appointment I was offered just 2 hours ago. I returned her call only to have her say that she did not call me and the last thing she knew was the appointment was scheduled for 4:45. At the end of this 10 minute conversation we still don't know if we have an appointment or not and Lynda says she has to call me back. An hour later and no call back, I call the salon and of course Lynda is not available. I was told by whomever answered the phone that there is no therapist available for the appointment we were offered and that "there was a lack of communication" on their part. I was offered nothing, no apology, no rate decrease....nothing. I wasn't looking for any handouts, however genuine ownership for their mistakes would have gone a long way. They could not get off the phone fast enough. Such a shame considering all of the good reviews, part of why we chose it in the first place. read more
