I had a 60 minute deep tissue with Patríck Horgan and let me just say, what he was able to do in 35 minutes blew me away. I left the spa thinking: imagine what they could have done in the full 60? Patríck's touch was both firm and tender. I felt seen, heard, and deeply cared for. I was relieved of tension in my left shoulder and strain in my right leg. I cannot recommend Patríck enough. I love Centre Ave Massage and Spa! I've been 4 times, 3 of them being for deep tissue massage and one for a foot massage. Ashley is my most recent go-to and I'll definitely keep coming back to her. I am impressed by how friendly and knowledgeable everyone is here and she is no exception. She answers all my questions and makes me feel very comfortable and at ease, which is imperative to the massage experience. I'll keep coming back for sure! I can't wait to try dry cupping and some of the other services they offer. I will say that the included aromatherapy doesn't happen every time. But our therapists were very comforting and friendly, making it a wonderful time! Everything was very simple to do, from making the appointment to filling out the paperwork. The therapists ask us multiple questions about our preferences before starting, which made me feel even more at ease. You can also request to have a quiet massage, where no talking will be involved and they will whisper to you only when needed. The massage itself was pretty amazing. I've realized how much of a squirmy/ticklish person I am, but that's on me. When I was able to contain myself, it was very relaxing and almost put me to sleep a few times. They will include an essential oil of your choice, hot towels and soothing music. I felt pretty wonderful when it was over. If you are looking for a good massage therapist in the area, come here!! I'm not somebody that gets massages often, but I try to get deep tissue work done somewhat regularly to counteract my idiocy in the gym. The deep tissue massages I've gotten always felt good, and I felt relaxed afterwards, but the folks here have completely ruined me from going anywhere else. My Wife got me a deep tissue massage twice, and while this is the first time I've found deep tissue massage painful, but it's the first time I've felt benefits for quite a while afterwards. This is the first time I've had a masseuse take real time to sit down with you, discuss trouble areas, and formulate a plan to try and fix it. In general, I feel like they've go above and beyond what I'd expect. I will say that if you ask them to truly do deep tissue and dig out the knots, it's likely going to be painful, and possibly on the verge of excruciating, but my neck, back, shoulders, and arms feel noticeably better for several weeks afterwards. Another thing that really stands out is that this is the first spot where I feel like they aren't looking at a clock to finish the massage. I don't hold it against folks as I know it's a business and time is money, but don't be surprised if you get some extra time as I feel like they generally want you leaving feeling at your best. Lastly, the staff has always been warm, friendly, and nothing short of kind. I happy recommend this spot and as I've said, I don't even bother looking elsewhere and I'd give this spot 6 stars if I could. read more

Based on the other reviews, I decided to try this place. It was very easy to book my appointment, and everyone was friendly and helpful. My appointment was with Ashley, who is very nice. I have anxiety and don't like people to touch me, so I was tense, but I did find myself relaxing a little. Ashley talked to me about problem areas, and she suggested some things that would help. Although I wasn't comfortable with cupping during my first appointment, I would trust her recommendation next time. Overall, Ashley did a wonderful job, and I am grateful for her help. I came here for a couples massage for my boyfriends birthday! I've gotten about 5 massages in my lifetime, 3 done in PGH. My boyfriend has never had a massage! We both just wanted to stay for longer! I got to choose my own scent for the essential oils- lavender vanilla. The room my massage was in was down a hall in the back of the building, it felt as if I was leaving the spa. Massage was average-good. My masseuse was nice and and did not talk during the massage which is the way I prefer. I didn't feel rushed like some places I have been to for massages. We made our reservations in advance: I made a reservation for a Mud Body Wrap while my friend reserved a Full Body Scrub. We were taken to a beautifully scented and calming room to fill out first-time visitor forms. Shortly after we turned those forms in and picked our preferred scent for our massage rooms his masseuse and my masseur (John) came to show us to our rooms. The massage room was lighted in a way that I can only describe as a pastel technicolor dream. The massage and wrap itself were great. It started with a full body scrub of my choosing, a wash, the wrap, a sitting period, another wash, and it finished with a full body lotion. The wrap was comfortably cozy and it was a great time to relax and get lost. The scrub and lotion portions were accompanied by pleasing massages. My only complaints are that I wish the room itself was a bit warmer and that John was a bit firmer when he was giving the massages. When I wasn't in the wrap or when a towel was moved around I felt an unpleasant chill. My friend stated that he enjoyed the full body scrub. I would recommend the spa to include a section on client preference for conversation. I am the type that enjoys total silence or to listen to music/white noise. She greeted me with a warm and genuine smile (which makes all the world's difference when you're as uneasy as I was.) Allison was also very informative, helpful and considerate. She proved that she wasn't "all talk." She has the perfect touch, neither too gentle nor too rough. She definitely knows what she's doing and how to accommodate for each customer. Even after the massage, she took care of me, offering me water, warning me of possible soreness post-massage and charging me less than she ought to. Highly suggest this place! This is not a 5 star spa. The space is outdated and needs major redecorating. It is not welcoming and doesn't have much of a "spa feel". The massage was okay but I couldn't relax completely because you can hear other people talking, the massage therapist kept yawning and they take you down a back hall that looks absolutely nothing like what a spa should. If you're going to charge top dollar for a massage, please reinvest back into your building. Again, this has little to do with the actual massage itself and more about the overall atmosphere of the building. I felt comfortable. There is the front sun filled lobby to sit if you arrive early. There is also a quiet room to wait in. I chose the quiet room. It was nice and relaxing. They could invest a little more there to just streamline that room. Make it less cluttered. But I was comfortable there. They offered me tea and it was nice to relax there with tea before the treatment. The massage rooms are painted with relaxing colors and themes. I was in one with ocean theme color. It was nice. The music was relaxing. The massage room was private and very comfortable. The masseur offered to use scented oil and I agreed. This is a choice and I like it because it helps me relax more. I liked how they informed about the choices too. The 90 minute session was priced a little high for this area. I still gave the masseur a good tip. I felt like I got my money's worth.
