I liked my nails and the turnaround time. I had to wait about 10-15 minutes ( I didn't have an appointment) because there was only one person working on a Saturday afternoon ( I thought this was strange) as most places are poppin' during this time. I liked the way she did my nails but she did the gel a little too far from my cuticles, which means I have to redo my nails sooner than I'd like to. May was nice and did all that I asked her, but I noticed that she uses a nail file to remove previous gel, and doesn't use any machinery, additionally, I don't think I remember seeing her use a top coat. I'm on week 2 and the gel is already coming off.. the chipping started a few days after I got the nails done. I wouldn't come back here. read more

Besides the convenience factor, I love how extremely clean and well-kept this salon is! Tools are taken out of sanitizing pouches right in front of you before services begin, and all spa chairs are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized as well. Of course, my mani/pedi came out great. The staff is super friendly, professional, and they all keep smiles on their faces despite how overwhelmingly busy they are. On my visit, a customer came in complaining about how her 12PM appointment time was not met. Well, we all know that hair and nail appointments are never exact due to walk-ins so maybe her time should have been better managed (apparently she had a 1PM hair appointment and a 3PM event in the west side). Despite that, the staff was able to maintain their composure and remained the professionals that they are. Great job, ladies! Very friendly. Clean. Nice looking salon. There were 3 women in the salon who serviced me, my sister, and her work colleague. My awesome manicure was done by the salon owner's mother. I don't recall the name of the woman who did my pedicure, but I was very pleased. The same women who did my manicure and pedicure did my sister's colleague's mani and pedi as well. But... Unfortunately, my sister's manicure and pedicure wasn't exemplary...or even acceptable. I don't recall the spa tech's name that did her man/pedi, but my sister's cuticles were painful and bleeding afterward. No bueno! My sister repeatedly cautioned the woman that the woman was causing her pain, but it didn't deter the woman from causing trauma to my sister's cuticles. Because my sister was visiting from the Midwest, she didn't pack sandals or flip-flops fo this time of year. She was wearing her tennis shoes. The salon offered my sister flip-flops to wear in order to protect her fresh pedi. But what they failed to mention was that the flip-flops were an additional cost until it was time to pay for our services. Also, my sister didn't like being "sold to". She wanted a "plain" pedicure, but the tech replied, "But I can't put a flower on a plain pedicure". Eventually she convinced my sister to get the rhinestones...which my sister didn't mind, but she felt that overall, the quality of her mani/pedi were subpar. The cuticles were bleeding and she felt the heels of her feet weren't scrubbed enough. Although I feel bad for my sister's bad experience, I was thoroughly pleased with my service. My manicurist was so sweet! She went over and beyond with her service...she offered her own nail polish for my pedicure because I LOVED the color so much! Aside from warm, friendly service, the atmosphere was very relaxing. We had appointments just in case it was busy, but it was very quiet. But...if you want to make this salon your favorite, you better get in there soon...Eventually they will be bustling with tons of brand new clients. A new multi-family housing unit is currently being built across the street. This hidden gem won't be stay hidden for long! Tip: Be sure to bring cash. I asked if they accept credit/debit cards and they told me to bring cash. I don't know if they absolutely won't accept credit/debit cards or if they just prefer cash. My overall opinion? Let's first start off with what a great first impression the ladies who work there made. I was immediately greeted by Kim and Tina. For me cleanliness is probably one of the, If not, most important features when choosing a nail salon. The salon had clean towels, floors, everything was spotless. I was offered water numerous times by Kim who did my gel manicure and regular pedicure. The difference between this salon and all the other ones I've been to is the time they put into their work. $12 for regular mani, $26 for mani/pedi Starting off my review with the prices because when looking for mani/pedi options in the area, I noticed practically no one mentions the price and I think that definitely reigns supreme in weighing which nail salon will get the honor of gussying up my enamel. I go to the esthetician who shares a space with this nail salon but for some reason never had the time to spare to splurge on another hour and some change for a pretty polish on my fingers and toes. They were able to take me right away, without an appointment on a somewhat slow Friday early afternoon. They have the spa chairs for pedicures and I noticed a woman getting both her feet and hands done up at the same time, which I know some people prefer. I was only getting a manicure, so I sat in the regular mani chair desk setup. The lovely lady doing my nails got to it right away and cleaned my cuticles very thoroughly. She was friendly and smiled every time we made eye contact. I was in and out of there in a half hour (possibly even less) and definitely feeling it was $16 (with tip) well spent on a timeout from work/day. The polish didn't quite last me a whole week, and I wasn't putting my hands through grueling enough tasks for the color to start to chip so quickly, but I have a feeling this might be because I chose an Essie hue and maybe that brand just isn't built to stand the test of time (a week, in this case). read more

I cannot. I mean. Can. Not. Believe this place had such great reviews. 1. I am currently writing this with an infected inflamed thumb. I am pretty sure they reuse tools. Cause after mine finished and I was waiting to pay, another employee grabbed the tools from mine and immediately used them on someone else. Which is provably why my thumb is cracked open and swollen. (And this happened TWO WEEKS AGO) 2. They charged me extra after being quoted a price. 3. Took forever to begin, even though there was only 1 other client there. 4. The technician didn't like what I wanted to do. So, every time I would ask her to execute what I had said, she said... No. 5. I hate leaving bad reviews but this place was so just BLEH. FYI - i'm very conflicted because the two of the three ladies that helped me out were very nice. My nails look good and the establishment seems reasonably sanitary. BUT if ur gonna drop over $50 on getting your nails done the customer service better be at least neutral, if not good. 1) the lady doing my manicure kept on using her nail to wipe off the excess polish. A lot of people do this and it usually doesnt bother me. However, she was very rough with the cuticle trimming, making the area around my nail extra sensitive. I kept on audibly saying things like "ouch" or "oh THAT HURTS" so that she would be more gentile. At one point she just flat out mentioned that I was being too sensitive. THAT'S NOT THE POINT. I get my nails done to relax and feel a little pampered. If no other nail technician has ever made my cuticles hurt this bad, then I think it is far more likely that she was being extra rough. As a lady I've suffered through waxings, lasering, and threadings less painful that this rough and rude nail technician. 2) when I went to check out she demanded that I pay in cash. I checked yelp before going so I knew that they accepted credit cards. I'm a millennial. I hate carrying cash. I specifically avoid nail salons that only accept cash. She acted like she was doing me a FAVOR by taking my credit card. Look I'm spending money at this establishment. You don't have to take credit cards and I dont have to spend my money here. But dont try to make me feel bad if you DO take credit cards but just dont want to. Honestly think I may have gotten the "rotten apple" of the bunch because the receptionist was super nice / welcoming and the lady who did my pedicure was fantastic. My first time here and it was great! The facility is clean, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Tina (the owner's mom) was welcoming and sweet. She took her time with my gel manicure and did a fantastic job(3 coats!). There was no rush like a lot of other salons despite other customers in the shop. My pedicure was equally as lovely. The massage chairs are my friend :) gel mani and spa pedi are $45 so not too bad and you really pay for the great service! My only complaint is they have a slightly more limited gel color selection (they still have variety but not as much as other salons). Still found great colors! Definitely coming back! read more

First off, I must say that this place was very accommodating. I was kind of in a bind when my usual nail place couldn't fit me in, but I called, and Spa Glisten told me to come right over, that they would squeeze me in. As for the mani/pedi, I don't feel they put as much into the services as most places, but then this is also reflected in the price. Only $26 for both! I detract a star, however, because I'm not sure if they put a liner in the foot soak. They do open a new set of sterilized instruments for each manicure or pedicure, so it's possible that I just didn't notice or I'm forgetting the sanitation measures they took with the foot bath, but I do want to call this out just in case. read more

Bad news for cool at home nailpolish. Many of my friends have raved about getting gel nail polish and one recently let me know to go somewhere they use Gelish polish because it lasts the longest. I read reviews on yelp and decided to go to Spa Glisten Nails because it was decently close to my home and all the reviews were great. Tina is great! She answered all my questions about gel polish, let me know what to do when the led drying time came, and didn't try to up-sell me on anything. I love my nails short, which most salons refuse to accommodate, but Tina listened to my thoughts and took them into consideration. I'll start by saying that the people there are extremely friendly... if I hadn't gotten such a low quality manicure, I would go back. Admittedly, I was in a hurry when I came in, and they accommodated me by having a "less experienced" woman do the first part of my french full set, with another taking over to shape the nails. The first manicurist used a piece of my old gel nail to pry the others off which hurt. I ended up pulling the last one up myself because I couldn't take it. Then, she glued without making sure they were adhering, and would have to try again as she worked. At this point I wasn't terribly confident in her skills, but she was really sweet and trying so hard so I just hoped that it would work out in the end. Unfortunately the next day 3 fell off with 2 more on the verge, so I called them and they said to come back and they would fix them free. Getting 5 of them fixed by the more experienced manicurist took a full hour and when I got home I realized that she didn't put any acrylic on one of the nails.... just the tip and polish. The next day another fell off...needless to say, I'm not going back. They kept telling me that the way my nails are, it's hard to get them to adhere, but I've always had my nails last a month or more with no problems when I've had them done at other places. Sweet people, but I don't have time or energy to keep going in to fix things. read more

Waiting between 2 appointments I decided to occupy my spare time with a manicure. I looked on yelp and so that one had a good rating so went without thinking twice. As always Yelp reviews are a good guide, this is a great place for mani and SO CHEAP ($12 only!). My mani lasted a week and that included a rough cleaning session at my apartment. Only thing that killed it a bit more me was the amount of alcohol and acetone to clean my nail. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra to have more gentle product used. read more

Spent my birthday getting pampered at spa glisten and I must say I left this place looking and feeling amazing. Stated with a facial by Tea! She was super nice, gentle, and experienced. She asked me about my skin concerns and then went to work. She talked me through the steps but wasn't too chatty. I knew what was happening but was also very relaxed. I highly recommend a facial with Tea. Then, I had my hair colored. I had some highlights done at another salon previously that turned out brassy. So, Lisa fixed me right up. I described the color and look I was going for and she completely nailed it. I have never had a stylist give me the exact color I asked for. It's always been either too dark or too brassy. Looks like Lisa is my colorist from now on! The salon itself was really beautiful and relaxing. The private rooms were clean, candles were lit and zen music played in the background. They offer you coffee, water, or tea throughout the day. My only suggestion would be to have snacks like nutri grain bars or crackers for those who are there for multiple treatments that run longer than a couple of hours. Perfect service, sweet nail technician, great nail filing and application. The experience itself was great. I got a basic mani pedi, the price point was good. However, the next day, the color chipped, and then 3 days later whole swaths of color peeled off my nails. Did she apply the polish poorly? Was the nail polish expired? I have no idea. Whenever I decide to get a mani-pedi, its usually spur of the moment after work. Did some quick yelp searching and came across Spa Glisten Nails. I decided to check it out since its located in the Glendale Marketplace plaza (across the street from the Americana), and so I knew there was plenty of free parking =). Tina is very accommodating and friendly. She remembers your face (that sounds odd) even if you haven't been there in months, and is always happy to see repeat customers. The first time I came in I paid $26 (before tip) for a spa mani pedi. I did end up paying more later to get a french manicure for both hands and feet. I actually got compliments on the manicure the next day when I was out at a girls brunch! I thought they did an amazing job with the french manicure; I'm always iffy about getting it done because some places are sloppy or unskilled when it comes to that. I came back again to get a gel nail polish done (for the first time) because my nails were chipping a lot from work. They carry the Gelish line of products, and Tina told me how they also use an LED machine to cure the polish (much better and safer for your skin than using a traditional UV machine). The gel manicure runs $30, and you have to pay an additional $5 on your next visit to remove the polish. I usually show up after work, so there is never a wait, but I would definitely recommend making an appointment if you're going to be there on a weekend. I loved my experience at this nail salon. The staff are so friendly that they made me feel at home - it was my first time there and yet it felt like I was a regular. She took her time and I didn't feel like she was rushing through. She even took the time to do a third coat on my mani since the color I was using was lighter. I have been coming to Spa Glisten (there was another location in the past) since 1987 when I was new to the area and trying one manicurist after another. I was totally frustrated with the absolutely ugly acrylic nails that professionals were doing! A friend at work told me about Tina and I have been with her ever since, though now I prefer silk nails. Tina is one of the most professional and kind female bosses that I have ever met! She has terrific common sense and runs a "tight ship," always keeping only the most professional ladies among her employees. She charges reasonable fees, has a great sense of humor, and makes creative suggestions that are age appropriate. The minute I walk through the door, the last two weeks of stress is gone. Enjoy a pedicure from Kim, read some good magazines, and almost fall asleep while everyone is making you feel so relaxed. I have always observed clean instruments with the use of lots of alcohol as well as the use of sprays that disinfect the foot baths. Current legal licenses are posted. The range of services provided is impressive. They may include a facial or a waxing by wonderful daughter, Tea, or a stimulating message. Looks like my quest to find a good nail salon will go on. Such a shame because I really haven't experienced a friendlier staff. Clean facility, sweet people, everyone is helpful--but the manicures and pedicures are pretty terrible. After my pedi I dried for a while and lost track of time, but it didn't feel like I was drying for *that* long, when the pedicurist started putting on my boots. I asked if it was too soon and she assured me it wasn't, a claim that proved untrue when I took off my boots at home 20 mins later. My toes were a mess. I assure you, she was sweet as pie and wasn't trying to rush me out, she just didn't know her stuff--and I should have trusted my gut. My nails were, if you can believe it, much worse. It looked like they spackled my hands. A toddler could have done better. I've done better myself painting with my left hand. Sad state of affairs, but I just can't recommend this place. read more

I found this rare Gem on Yelp...best decision that I've made! I love coming here for manicures and pedicures because my husband and I are treated like family! He comes here with me to get manicures and pedicures, and we couldn't be happier. They are very professional and the place is very clean and welcoming. None of the ladies are rude, and they always make an effort to work with your schedule. Luckily, I live a block away, so it is very convenient for me. A little gem in the Glendale Marketplace plaza across the street from the Americana. It's usually pretty quiet when I go (in the evening) and the ladies are super friendly. No pressure tactics to make you upgrade your services or have something put on that you don't want (uh, a Hello Kitty head on my big toe? No thanks, I'm not twelve). There's an awesome array of colors to choose from or they'll knock a couple bucks off the price of a pedi if you bring in your own polish. The space is clean and I am confident that they are using clean tools and fresh towels (which is more than I can say about some other nail shops I've been in). I usually call in advance 1-3 hours before I'd like to get my piggies soaked/painted and the ladies are very accommodating (read: you will always get in a chair within the time frame you need). The best part is the leg/foot massage; totally relaxing and essential after a week of running around in heels at the office. They also offer sea salt scrubs for an extra charge. This spot also provides hair and waxing services, though I've never partaken. One drawback: it's cash only. So bring your dollar dollar bills y'all because these dames are workin' hard to keep your toes cute. read more

Terrible service. Called ahead to book an appointment for three people and was told that they would be able to accommodate. We arrived and they had two technicians working. They started the first two and left one to wait 30 minutes in a broken massage chair before even beginning the third person. What should have been a 45 minute appointment turned into 1.5 hours, not to mention the website says $20 for pedicures for men and I was charged $33 and my partner was charged $25.
