The receptionist was extremely helpful over the phone, and when I arrived. On the paperwork, I listed that my problem area was my lower back/sciatica. While filling out paperwork, I noticed that I had to agree to my gluteus maximus being massaged through a sheet. Not a problem as the sciatica leads into the gluteus area. My masseuse came to get me and I explained to her thoroughly that I just wanted to focus on my lower back for the hour. I was detailed with her explaining that the left side hurt worse and that I am a bartender, and need to get some treatment there before the busy weekend of work. She asked if any other areas would like attention. I told her that my neck could use a little bit of attention, but that I wanted the focal point to be my lower back. She begins the massage and a lot of emphasis was put on my upper back but I put my trust in her and figured that I needed it. My upper back is messed up too. It's not causing me to limp at the moment, but it did need some work. Then after about 40 to 45 minutes, she tells me that the hour long massage is up. We had started at 1:15, and it was just a few minutes before 2 PM at this point. I commented to her that she didn't get to my lower back and asked if she had another few minutes. I was even willing to pay for it. She explained to me that they are not allowed to go below the underwear. While I completely understand this rule especially in this day and age, my lower back is definitely above my underwear line. Also, I remembered the paperwork that stated that they massage the gluteus maximus over the sheet. My lower back problem area is above my gluteus area as well. She reiterated about the underwear which didn't make any sense, and explained to me that she could do some pressure points. She proceeded to do some pressure point work for about a minute and a half and then told me to get dressed, and she would meet me in the hall. She was not in the hall, so I saw myself out. When I was paying in the receptionist area, she came to get her next patient and didn't acknowledge me or say bye. I still tipped her 20% even though I was upset about the miscommunication and being lied to about their policy. However, I am deeply upset that I spent $85 that I did not have to try and get my lower back fixed before I have to go into this crazy weekend at work. Obviously I would not recommend this location of hand and stone to anyone, in fear that they would get this masseuse. Also, while I was waiting, a separate masseuse proceeded to have a heated talk with the sweet receptionist in front of the several people that were waiting. I understand that places are understaffed. The bar where I work suffers from understaffing as well. However, with everything being so expensive lately, $85 is a lot for me and I expect quality service. I at least expect the area that I need work on... to be worked on. I don't know if they read the paperwork or not where it listed my problem area, but I was extremely clear with her in person. I'm insulted about being lied to about the policy, and I'm still in a tremendous amount of pain unable to go somewhere else because money is tight. If you're looking for a relaxing spa experience, find someplace else.

Now I have to work ALL OVER AGAIN to find a person who does great work *and* whom I want to see literally once a month for the rest of my life." It was a delight to find Chrissy and Cure de Repos! She does an amazing job with the waxing. She's always happy to chat, and it's wonderful to get great service (she's a self-described perfectionist, which is... exactly what you want from someone doing facial waxing) from someone you have a wonderful rapport with. There are lots of products to buy there if you want them, and I appreciate that no one has ever done a hard sell to me. However, when Chrissy noticed me eyeing the deodorant they sell, she gave me a great personal recommendation, and I did wind up trying it out. It turned out to be excellent. The space is a smaller so I was not sure how it would work out, but I trusted Diane Marie and her team with my wedding. They coordinated the 15 of us perfectly. Everyone was scheduled between 7:30 and 11:30 AM. I have received so many complients on how beautiful my bridal party looked -- the hair, the make up.. it was flawless. I would recommend this salon and their team to anyone and everyone! It's obvious that they are passionate about what they do and they do it so professionally. This was one of the most horrific and uncomfortable experiences I've ever had at a spa. What I…read moreexpected to be a relaxing massage turned into something completely unexpected and disturbing. While I was lying on the table, the masseuse suddenly climbed up onto the board and began walking across my body while holding onto the ceiling for balance. She applied pressure using her feet while pushing upward against the ceiling. When she reached the center of my back, she actually jumped on my back three separate times. It didn't stop there. When she moved toward my arm, her bare foot went directly into my hand. At that moment I was extremely uncomfortable and just wanted the entire experience to be over. The next morning I woke up with my back covered in bruises. A massage should never leave someone feeling injured and shaken like this. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe or relaxing spa experience.
