My partner and I came here on a Saturday afternoon. There were a few people, but it wasn't crowded--we were able to get seats. We got the fried chicken sandwich and jumbo wings to share. The food took quite a bit of time if you're taking into account take out orders? The food seems to be made to order, which could have contributed to the wait time. I'm not sure if we just got a one off one, but the fried chicken sandwich was on the drier side. There were about 2 chicken pieces in the burger, but they were a little bit on the thinner side. I wish the chicken itself had more flavor? It didn't have much of a taste to it, and the pickle vegetables weren't that great with it either/didn't really add anything, and I'm usually a huge fan of Asian pickles. The wings were cooked to perfection though! They still glistening inside and were a good size. The crust was a tad on the saltier end. It actually reminds me of the mama instant noodle seasoning. The hype is real. The chicken sandwich is like a fried chicken bhan mi with veggies. It's the crispiest sandwich with an extremely satisfying bite. Don't sleep on the Brussels, they're like pad Thai flavor brussel sprouts, so good. Sangria is also a banger. Hubby said it's the first time in a long time where everything was excellent. Satay tacos were packed with veggies and a delicious peanut sauce. Just know when you come you'll wait for your food. I think we waited around 25 minutes, but in our opinion, it was well worth it. Southside Station's very high Yelp rating put it near the top of my bucket list, so I was excited to try it last week. I ordered the Jumbo Thai Fried Chicken Wing Combo with Garlic Noodles. I did not have to wait in line to order, but I must have waited 20 minutes for my food to be ready. I didn't mind too much, though -- I figured the wait would be worth it. Unfortunately, the food and overall experience were just mediocre, leaving me pretty disappointed. The chicken was hot, but it was not flavorful. The garlic noodles were a little tastier, but still not anything special. The combo included a beverage. I rarely drink soda, so I paid extra to upgrade from a fountain drink to a peach Bundaberg. The best by date was a month and a half earlier. I would have asked for a different one had I still been there, although my guess is that many or all of their drinks were past the best by date. I had been tempted by the Coconut Mochi Butter dessert, but I showed restraint. If I'd had a better first visit, I'd get it next time. Instead, I don't anticipate making a return trip. read more

Their fried chicken sandwich is one of the best in the area! It's a fusion mix of veggies with a kick! I love that they use dark thigh meat so the chicken is super juicy and tender. It's not dry and hard. The bun they use is also perfectly toasted with a fluffy sweet taste. They do take some time to make the sandwich is just be sure you're ready to wait a few extra minutes, but it's totally worth it! This place is conveniently located on Shattuck. I usually park a block or two off the side streets. The place is small but enough tables as people seemed to order togo or eat fast. It took awhile to get our food, but they were really nice. The chicken sandwich was notably tasty and crispy. The chicken wings were good and crispy too. My only gripe was that I felt totally lied to about the spaghetti for my daughter. It was totally tasteless. I recently tried Southside station with some friends since I had been craving a chicken sandwich. The space is fairly small, so I would recommend getting food to go if you're with a large group. Onto the food, I ended up getting the chicken sando with curly fries. My combo also came with a diet coke. The sandwich was juicy and fried well (and also HUGE). The portion of chicken was quite generous! That said, I wish the batter/chicken was seasoned a bit more since it left something to be desired. The curly fries were okay, but fried a bit too crispy for my liking. I think the food here is solid, but it's not the best chicken sandwich I've had. I've always walked by this place and wanted to give it a try, but I never knew what they served until I looked it up. The inside is a cozy, simple vibe without too much frills. OMG, their chicken sandwich is amazing! I don't think I can add anything to the other rave reviews. The food is really extraordinary. We had a good selection of several things and took a lot of leftovers home - everything heated up nicely and tasty the next day. The interior is a bit drab and the fact that they don't have a bathroom is strange. But the music was good and the guests were interesting. Unfortunately, the wait time was over half an hour, which was a bit for a place like this. But they seem to have many to-go orders, so it makes sense that it takes a while. Instagram brought me here, it did not disappoint one bit. I ordered sliders, garlic noodles, fries, regular chicken sandwich, and the wings. The service was quick and friendly, you have to order first and sit and wait. Yesterday there was an article in the Chronicle about the best chicken wings in the Bay Area and Southside Station was on the list. I am a fan of chicken wings, so after I picked up my order at Three Stone Hearth today I drove up to Southside Station. Though there was no one at the window, there was a bell to ring and a sign asking that it be rung. When I did, a nice young woman came out from the back to take my order. I ordered a combo plate to go, w/ wings, garlic noodles and a drink. The drink choices were a variety of sodas and water. Since I don't drink sodas I opted for water. Each order is cooked to order, so the wait was 10 or 15 minutes. I was given a little gizmo to alert me when my food was ready and invited to take a seat while I waited. It made noise and I wasn't sure how to turn it off, but the young woman did. The space is clean and neat. Overhead are colorful paper lanterns w/ light bulbs inside. Very pretty. I know they have a public restroom because one of the men who was waiting for his order asked to use it. In addition to the two men eating in, there was a steady stream of people doing takeout. I had the wings and garlic noodles for dinner tonight, along w/ my favorite Three Stone Hearth fattoush salad, which I had picked up this afternoon. I warmed up the noodles in the microwave and the wings in the oven and that worked well. Portions were generous and the food was flavorful. The wings were meaty and well seasoned. They included a small container of sauce, but after trying it on one bite, I didn't think it was necessary. I'm basically not a sauce person. The noodles were nicely garlicky. When I found out Southside Station had opened up in Berkeley, I was sad it wasn't there when I was attending college a few years back and lived right down the street from where it's at now. I have to admit that I'm a huge fried chicken sandwich person, and I was shaken that I had fallen in love with a sandwich that didn't need to be spicy to make me miss it after finishing the whole thing. I AM IN AWE. The fried chicken sandwich is huge! The chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. There's papaya and carrots included in the sandwich, and the brioche buns are so fluffy - it's smooth and melts into the mouth. 11/10 sandwich (and the sliders too! They're absolutely huge and a great meal to share!) HONORABLE MENTION: I also want to mention that the garlic noodles here are superior! So much flavor and always made fresh. Now let's talk the shop! The shop itself is pretty small, yet encapsulates that welcoming hometown feeling that many local businesses hold. I think it's really cute that there's a window to make orders inside, and I really like how simple the place operates. Staff here are always so kind and work extremely fast. I love walking in and immediately being hit with the smell of freshly made food. Prices for the food are so WORTH IT. Some may see them and be like "oh, it's just like any other joint that sells Thai food or sandwiches." When I tell you "NO. IT'S NOT." I mean it.
