With so many military and other non-natives moving to the area, I was shocked and saddened to overhear a conversation between a salesman and an old man who I came to understand worked there as a parts driver. F'ing yankees this, f'ing yankees that. On and on it went. It wasn't a quiet conversation, but done loudly to insult non-virginians from northern states. Coming from the south, I was shocked to hear such talk, especially from Virginians, which is mid-north, mid-south at best, and not truly southern. My wife, also a southerner became irritated at their stupidity and mocking attitude. 10 stars!!! So you pull into a HD dealer at 2 pm on a Saturday with a blown head gasket on a 2019 Road King Special 285 miles from home and they say no problem we will have it fixed by 7pm. NO FRICKIN WAY!! This place is TOP notch. Sam, the service writer, Jake the awesome ass mechanic that stayed late to get us back on the road, Frenchie who chilled with us to ease our minds and everyone else here that was so nice and friendly, Thank you all. This is a centrally located dealership close to downtown. I like how the salespeople aren't pushy. I went to get a full face helmet but no such luck for me. I went here for an emergency present situation two days before Christmas. I was looking only in the gifts and apparel section, on the right when you walk in. I wandered and made a couple laps around the same few displays of items: t-shirts, hats, various beverage vessels, bags, and the like. One of the associates offered his assistance and I explained my situation: I ordered my grandfather a Harley Davidson blanket from Amazon. I did not open the box for a few days because, well, I assumed the blanket I'd ordered would be inside. Wrong. I got a plain blue blanket that I wanted a refund for, hence, I had to drive over to Southside for an emergency present. Anyway, the associate (I regret not getting his name) was very kind, ultimately helping me decide on a nice thermos. He also explained why I couldn't get my hands on a HD blanket. Everyone I'd talked to who worked there had great attitudes. My favorite part was the complimentary (but offer a gratuity) gift wrapping by the door as you leave. They had beautiful HD wrapping paper to choose from, bows, and gift tag stickers. A very good experience! read more

I am not a biker. I will never be a biker. I think that if God had wanted us to ride motorcycles, he wouldn't have let us have automobiles with four tires and doors and such. Safer. But my brother (Lord help him!) is a Harley owner and he's looking for a specific doodad for his bike. So while we were doing our errands, we popped in to the store. He went up to the service counter, I wandered the showroom. All I know about motorcycles is that some of these were very pretty and they come in very nice colors. Uh, that's about it. A large portion of the sales floor is dedicated to accessories. From shirts to pants and leathers and decals and coffee mugs and all sorts of goodies. The sales staff were more than happy to help me - at least three of them asked if I needed assistance - but I was perfectly fine. One thing I noticed and that was that none of the bikes had prices displayed. I wasn't in the marked, but I'd still like to know how much these machines cost. My husband and I stopped by HD to check out the street glides and look at price ranges and what not. We were not expecting to purchase but with the help of Justin and staff we found a great deal on a beautiful bike! My husband loves it! The whole process was very relaxed and we never felt rushed or pushed to buy. Everyone from the sales guy, to the finance guy, to the cashier was super friendly and cool! You can tell these guys are riders and enjoy their jobs ! The only suggestion i have is to show the prices of the products that they have to order from catalogue bc we made the mistake of buying a back piece so i could ride along with my husband and wasn't aware of the price nor was told. It ended up being 4x more expensive than other online retailers. It was included in the loan but dang at the end of the day we still are going to pay for it. I was on vacation and got a flat tire on July 2, 2022 at 2pm. I called and talked to Samantha. She gave me the number for Tow and Go. I was so worried that I would be stuck until July 5th waiting for my bike. Tow and Go picked my bike and me up in an hour. Arrived at Southside and Samantha was right there to do the write up. 3 minutes later my bike was in the shop. I was out of there in an hour and back on vacation. I stopped by this location after hitting Knuckleheads for lunch and was very impressed. The place was busy and there was a lot of activity for a weekday afternoon. This is on my bucket list and will happen... "The Good" - They have a large selection of bikes and everything you would need if you ever started riding. - The salesmen that was chatting me up had some pretty good tactics, including "You know, with all the nice weather, you would get better mileage with one of these Harley's than you would with any car" - Seriously, how can you argue with that??? - There were some cool displays on the inside and all of them were very cool including a WWII era bike. - They have jeans that actually fit normally... Yeah, its a brand name but still they are comfortable. - Easy to get to location that is next to a biker themed bar... c'mon how cool is that?? "The Meh" - Nothing really meh to comment on. Trying to get caught up on some reviews I am behind on. I have no complaints against Southside. They are usually busy and always try to get to everyone ASAP. I would say they don't have enough staff, but if they hired any more the prices would probably have to go up to compensate for it. I have had my Road-Glide worked on here and have always been happy with the service. On a different part of the Motorcycle world, when Southside host's a Bike Show (unlike Bayside HD) the voting is impartial and the bikes are based on the BIKES themselves, not on who knows the owner or shop manager the best. And the staff that participates in the events are ALWAYS ready to answer questions. Eventhough I live closer to Bayside, my support and what I consider my "local HD" will always be Southside HD. I had the worst experience To day dealing with with Southside Harley-Davidson, First of all about a week ago I had 10 inch bars installed on my 2014 street glide, the technician who installed them forgot to hook up my heated grips. I brought it Back to have it looked at, the technician assured me it was just a wire that needed to be reconnected. So I scheduled an appointment for today to get it all taken care of. After bring my bike to the shop I was informed that it would be best for me to leave because the technician didn't want me to check the status of the repair. He also told me that it would take approximately 2 to 3 days before they could get it fixed. I'm assuming that they don't care about the people who already have had parts and service installed, I guess they just get put on the back burner, because they already got their money. It was a white female who dropped her CVO bike off and was waiting at the same time I drop my bike off but she was never informed that she need to leave and it was gonna take about 2 to 3 days for them to fix her bike. I'm just lost for words I've been dealing with this motorcycle shop for over 7-8 years and I never experienced anything like this. It took me to speak with the GM the general manager of the company in order to finally get some kind of update on how long it would take for them to repair my bike. Integrity is doing the right thing even when someone isn't watching or someone not telling you what to do. The moral of the story is do the right thing and And treat others as you wish to be treated. The staff are always courteous, know me by name, and are always helpful in pointing out good buys and encouraging participation in store events whether a sale is generated or not. I have found the service department to be proactive and helpful, and they have even recommended outside resources when they felt it was necessary. Customer service is snappy, courteous, and knowledgeable, As a HOG member, I have had interaction with the management and found nothing but cooperation and concern. This is MY go to Harley place. I was recently at Southside HD. I parked, got out of my car and was immediately met by a salesman in the parking lot. Told him I just stopped by to look and really didn't need any help at the time. Hey everyone, I just need to talk about the absolute best experience I've very had in my life in regards to retail/vehicle shopping. So at the Harley Davidson in Virginia Beach, I was greeted and was given literally amazing customer service by Devin. He talked to us for a while and was able to not only find me the perfect bike but was also able to get me a $250 gift card to buy gear for free and he showed me where I can take the Motorcycle Safety Course and told me he can also reimburse that course into another store gift card. He worked with us for a couple hours to help negotiate so that we could get the bike in the right price for us. He then offers free delivery of the bike to my apartment and updates me on the current repair job (HD currently needs to replace the ignition switch but they are doing that for free). When I go back there to get my helmet, he then introduced me to Hardy Headden to helped me find the perfect helmet and the perfect riding gear to buy. Literally couldn't have asked for a better experience so if you're in the area and wanting to get a bike or even some gear or bike parts, PLEASE GO HERE FIRST!! read more

Southside was my first choice for purchasing a New 2014 Dyna Switchback in September 2014 because it was close to my home and I had done business with them on two other bikes in the past through military overseas sales. However, after talking with a sales rep, at first they wouldn't budge on price that was over MSRP even though there was a dealer incentive at the time. After additional discussion, they agreed to MSRP but had no military discount options for parts and accessories. Not feeling like they wanted my business, I took my business to another dealer (Bayside) in Portsmouth and walked out with the same bike for $2K less plus $500 in free accessories and a 10% military/veteran discount on all parts and accessories each and every day, not just on special days. Overall, I had a good experience in the store. Got a great deal on a bike, and the in-store customer service was great. HOWEVER, they convinced me to finance through them since I would be getting a much lower rate than through my bank. DO NOT finance through them!! It has been the biggest mistake. They use Port Alliance FCU. Unlike me, do your research before you sign. It has been a nightmare working with this FCU. I am refinancing my loan through my bank at with a higher interest rate just to get out of the Port Alliance SCAM of a credit union. Why set your customers up with such a horrible place?? read more

These guy's are theives. Parts stealers. Took my 2007 Buell xb12x in for 1000 mile service and my bike came back with more problems. Then the rear shock blew oil (under waranty) They replaced it with a used rear shock from one of the guy's buell's xb 12x in service and put my new shock on his bike. You could tell by the wear on the shock it was used, no clicks when adjusting spring preload. The buells on the floor new all click even the theifs bike clicked like new he had 70,000 miles on a 2006, rear shock showed no wear. Run fast. I will never take my bike back for service. They would not resolve the issue. read more

I have taken my Harley Davidson in a few times to Southside for maintenance or work. The first time my bike (always garaged) was left out in the rain for two days. After the work was done I noticed some shoddy workmanship (loose front brake handle etc). A friend recommended Bayside Harley and spoke about their great attitude and care. Due to a compressed schedule I acquiesced and returned again to Southside. The service department has me convinced they do not actually work for Harley Davidson. They do not stand by their products, they do not stand by their maintenance, they do not stand by their customer, and they consistently give you the feeling they don't want to deal with your Harley Davidson... So they must not actually work for "The Company". If you are interested in purchasing a bike, gear, or get your vehicle serviced do not overestimate the benefit of traveling a little further for the care and experience the company promotes, go to Bayside Harley Davidson. read more

We are 'out of towners' traveling through and went into the service dept to have an issue with our bike addressed. the service dept pretty much told us it would be 2-3 weeks before they could even look at it - btw, we leave in a couple days. funny,,, the dealer by our home CATERS to out of town riders to keep their bike safe and on the road. too, bad, this dealership has lost our business, and we won't stop there again. read more

The policy here is to fix the paying customers bikes first and then eventually get to the guys that have warranties. You would think it would be first come first served with exceptions for extenuating circumstances. Maintenance doesn't know their job, my boyfriend took his bike in just after 48 hours of owning it for problems that should never have been there, took them over two hours to pick his bike up even though they were only 15 min down the road. My b/f being a small engine mechanic let them know what was wrong but bike is under warranty so he let them fix it, got told the next day all they did was unplugged some wires, plugged them back in and rode it around the a block that is less than a mile. Needless to say he pick his bike up and went a mile and a half down the rode and was back at the Harley service shop. Took two hours to finally get everything straightened out. I am fairly disappointed with their timeframe on repairing a bike. I have originally dropped off the bike for repairs and it's entering week 8 still waiting for parts to arrive. I mean, you would THINK that a Harley Davidson shop would have most items on hand and be able to get fast shipment if they didn't. Nope. That's not the case.
