Poor Communication and Unprofessional Customer Service: I don't normally leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share my honest experience so others know what to expect. I originally spoke with someone named Chris earlier in the week about bringing in my vehicle for a diagnostic. He told me to "drop it off Wednesday," but no formal appointment was made -- no confirmation text, no email, no name taken, and nothing written down in front of me. Because of that, I assumed they were operating on a flexible drop-off basis, which is common with many repair shops. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it Wednesday due to being sick, so I dropped my car off early Thursday morning instead. Throughout the day, I called multiple times just to check whether they would be able to look at it. Each time, I was told nothing -- no update, no estimate, no clarity. I even told the front desk that if they couldn't get to it, I would gladly come pick it up so I wasn't taking up their space unnecessarily. When I finally spoke with Chris, the tone and attitude I received were extremely unprofessional. Rather than simply explaining that they were too busy to look at my vehicle, he blamed me repeatedly for them not being able to work on it -- even though no confirmed appointment was ever created, no system entry was made, and no communication was sent to me to establish a scheduled date. I acknowledged my mistake in not coming Wednesday or calling ahead, but the way the situation was handled was dismissive, rude, and lacked any basic customer service. A simple "We're booked today, we'll try for tomorrow" would have gone a long way. Instead, after leaving my car there all day with no updates, I received a message saying it was "ready for pickup" -- even though they never inspected it. The entire experience left me disappointed and feeling like my time and concerns weren't valued. I understand shops get busy and that I didn't arrive on the originally discussed day, but professionalism, communication, and courtesy should still be consistent. I completed an online quote request for service. Had a reply saying they'd get back to me on Monday morning. However, Monday morning came and my vehicle would not start. I had to jump it. So I came to this business requesting help and the older female was very short, very rude, and condescending while I explained my situation. Never asked for any information about me or my vehicle just asked that I leave it with no promise to get to it because they were " booked full" to which I could understand. But I could not do such a thing with a child at daycare and a husband at Work. I had no alternative mode of transportation to be sure that I would get my child at the end of his day or get to him in the event of an emergency. My issue is not getting service immediately. I in no way feel entitled to demand same-day service. It was the attitude of the individual that was really offputting for someone who is the face of the business when you walk in. Next, she became very frustrated with what I was explaining, and she said they would not be able to get to my vehicle until Thursday. Which I replied we will be out of town then. She then said something along the lines of I don't even know I can't help you anymore and directed me to the person sitting behind the computer who also said "I don't know either. I just got here." The business had been open for nearly an hour at that point, it was almost 9 AM. The entire interaction was discouraging and borderline demeaning. Additionally, these people don't know who I was they never asked for my name or anything and at this point, I still have not received any email back about scheduling a potential appointment for service. I went down the street to Firestone anyways, and was helped immediately but people much nicer who talked to me with empathy and respect. Something I did not receive at great bridge auto. read more

I had high hopes for this shop, especially since it came recommended by others--but unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired in the communication and protocol departments. I initially brought my truck in for an estimate, and it eventually turned into an insurance claim. From the beginning, I found myself reaching out for updates on both of our ends (me updating them or me requesting updates from them). I had to call to confirm that my vehicle had arrived after it was towed, call again to request the actual estimate, and follow up to inform them that I planned to go through insurance. Later, I had to call a fourth time to tell them not to proceed with any repairs since insurance was going to handle it. This was all to be expected. I had to initiate contact but they responded appropriately. To their credit, the estimate itself was detailed, and the person I spoke with was knowledgeable about the repairs needed. However, I still had to ask for the estimate to be sent to me--it wasn't proactively provided. I think they're short staffed. The biggest issue came when the shop released my vehicle without my authorization. This was a major misstep that could have easily been avoided with a simple phone call. I was just one call away, and it felt careless for something that important to be handled that casually with someone's possessions. There wasn't any acknowledgment of why this was not an appropriate action. There was not a proper protocol followed in this case. In the end, while the technical side of things seemed solid, the lack of proactive communication and the mishandling of my vehicle's release left me disappointed. I hope they can tighten up these areas, because the potential is there--it just wasn't my experience. read more

We got a flat tire on the way to OBX and our spare was low. We were concerned to continue our trip on a less than ideal spare. I called and told them of our situation, they told me they were closing in 15 minutes- i told them we'd get there as quickly as possible. We arrived 25 minutes later and they were still open waiting on us- Chase aired up our tire and gave it a quick once over and said we'd be good for the rest of our trip. We tried to pay them and they wouldn't hear of it - just wished us a good trip. We were so grateful for their kindness and willing to us go out of their way to help folks who were not having a good day. If ever the opportunity or need to have a return visit- we will not hesitate to give them our business. read more

Several years ago I took my wife's vehicle in, thinking that it needed a major tune up. Chris called me later that day to let me know that it was a minor fix and no tune up was needed. I had a very poor experience at this auto shop. I took my car in for losing oil (2-4qts between oil changes). I took time to explain the issue to the shop and asked that they look for internal or external oil leaks as this is not a small amount of oil to use. I learned later that the clerk wrote down only "Change oil. Check for leaks" for the mechanic. This resulted in the mechanic making $1,140 in other repairs (power steering fluid lines) and never addressing the issue I brought my car in for. After discussing with the owner, I was ultimately forced to spend over $1,000 to get my car back, without ever having the issue that I brought my car in for addressed. In and out for a state inspection in an hour! At 9:30 am another service center down the street told me they could get me done by 6 pm maybe, so I left and came here. I only needed one windshield wiper to pass inspection ($10) but I decided to replace both...$39 and one hour later I'm out with new wipers and an inspection. So disappointed in this garage. After paying to have brakes replaced on my vehicle my husband dropped off his car to have it inspected. Upon not finding anything wrong, they flagged his vehicle for a hazy rear-view mirror. They called to inform my husband of the need to replace the mirror and after hearing the price they wanted for a clip on mirror, he called around to see if he could find one at our local auto parts store cheaper. He wasn't sure of the size, so he called Great Bridge Auto Service back to find out what was the size of his mirror on his car. They said, "12 inch." The local auto parts store did not carry this size, so he told them to go ahead and put on their mirror which was almost double the price of the local auto parts store's mirror. Upon arrival to pick up his car, he found they had installed a clip on mirror 2 inches too big for his vehicle. With this mirror in place, it is impossible to put down the visors on either side of the mirror. When he spoke to the guy at the shop, the man lied and said that when my husband had called earlier to find out the size of his mirror, he told him that he had a 12 inch "that would fit his car" when what my husband had asked was what was the size of his mirror. When my husband told them that it did not fit and was too big, the shop owner Chris told him that it had already been "installed" so he could not take it off, get his money back and buy one from the local auto parts store to have it put on. The mirror they "installed" is hideous, does not fit and they refused to make it right. Will NOT be returning to this business!!!! read more
