We actually went there twice during our vacation. Both times we had excellent service and food. Definitely the place to stop in Slidell.

We stopped here per a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed. We were a big group and was easy to find seats and everyone loved their food. I ordered the shrimp and oyster basket and it was delicious; really big portion and you might want to save room for the cobbler or bread pudding. Fun place, lots of tvs going and great prices. read more

Great food and great service. Only reason for not giving it a full 5 stars is because it was a little pricy just for po boys and an appetizer and a beer. $50 before tip and the po boys didn't even come with a side. Other than that I had a great experience and definitely will come back again! read more

I look forward to going to Slidell just so I can go to Southside Café!! BEST FOOD AND SERVICE EVER! Portions are HUGE and ambiance is awesome! read more

My husband and I were visiting relatives and decided to stop here for dinner before returning home. We could not believe how good the roast beef Poboy was and the Mac and cheese was also pretty darn good. If you looking for a quiet place to have dinner this place is not for you. But if you looking for great food, price and service then you should give them a try. Our waiter Bobby was one of the best we have had in a long time. Every time he passed our table he made sure we had what we needed. He even prepared the to go order we had for traveling without having to be reminded like we had to do at other restaurants. I would give him a five star for not just doing his job but doing a great job and with a friendly smile the whole time helping all his customers. read more

In need of some comfort food after the devastating loss on Sunday, I found the spot. I thoroughly enjoyed my perfectly grilled chicken breast, baked macaroni and cheese and delicious mashed potatoes and gravy. Friendly hostess and waitress. My Mom's salad looked great too and she said it tasted as good as it looked. I was in need of carb time to drown my sorrows after Sunday. Thanks Southside! Y'all rock! read more

Love coming here with the family! We've ordered the onion rings, steak dinner, blackened tuna, blacked catfish, and the seafood combo with sides like gumbo and veggies and it is ALLLLL so good. I particularly love the seafood gumbo. The portions are huge and plenty filling! read more

A great find on our way from Florida to Austin TX, where our son owns a fresh seafood restaurant. I love local cuisine and avoid the typical franchises on the main roads. Southside was a great find, I had a yen for oysters and catfish, had both and they were really good. Service was excellent. Will return and have recommended Southside to our local friends. read more

the Service, Atmosphere and Food was amazing!! Large variety on the menu and huge portions!! Definitely recommend!

We had dinner here tonight! The service was excellent. Sophia was our waitress and she was fantastic! She was very attentive and had an excellent personality. The food was great. We had the shrimp and corn soup, which had a great taste! Would highly recommend ordering that when it is a special. We each ordered a half poboy. I order oyster. My husband ordered shrimp. Their half is the size of most restaurant's whole size. It was a very generous half size. The only negative was that it is EXTREMELY loud in there. When a chair is moved it startles you and you can hardly hear anyone at your table because of the noise from everyone around you, but the food is great! read more

I LOVE this place! The food, the atmosphere, and everything in between. Every time we go we never find anything we don't like.

My favorite weekend eatery. Real food, real good. Great atmosphere and a fabulous group of servers. I would recomend this location to anyone. read more

Great Food, Great atmosphere for watching the Saints game or LSU game. Best Chicken Tortillia soup ever. You have to try it. Steak night is awesome read more

We were referred to this restaurant above all others as being a great mom and pop place with great food and service. Food was good but far from great. We felt like the portion sizes were unbalanced considering we are in the deeps south where seafood is plentiful. The service was subpar as well. Our server was rude and could have been a lot more helpful. read more

Southside is my favorite place to eat in Slidell. I'm not one to try new things UNLESS the place is consistently great. Southside is consistently EXCELLENT! I have tried the seafood basket, fried crawfish, Fried chicken, gumbo, and most of the appetizers. I have yet to be disappointed and highly recommend this place to anyone in the area! read more

This is a very well ran family establishment. It's clean and has a big food menu. Needs a bigger beer menu. We will go back.

Great food and service. Came here on a Sunday on the way to our swamp tour. We wanted about 5 minutes even though the place was packed. We orders the seafood gumbo, 1/2 seafood muffuletta, and onion strings. Everything was great and the 1/2 muffuletta could have feed at least 3 people. The prices are also very reasonable. I would recommend them and I would definitely come again. read more

When we went to this restaurant it was okay, until we seen all the white people. We waited to be seated and then the waitress came and got us to be seated. She was trying to put us in the back of the restaurant as if we was slaves. All the white people was in the front and no one could see us in the back, so I told her that she have me messed up. So she put us in the front and that's when they start watching us and then I started giving them a killer's look. We ordered our food and it's was ok but just didn't look right. Then we ordered a seafood dish to go and find out once we gotten back to the room, that it was missing food. We also found out that the soft she'll crab that we had was deep fried with all its intestines, which was nasty. read more

Food is OK. Very busy every time I have been here. My favorite thing to get is the po- boy peacemaker but it is at a whopping price of almost $17. The last time that I went here lI asked them if they could give me a half sandwich but my waitress rudely said no. Definitely not the best restaurant in the New Orleans area but it will fill you up. read more

Always good food and a fun time. Been coming here since they opened. The people here are great.

GREAT local food, love the military theme and artifacts!

Very good place for local Louisiana food. This place is always busy. Their blacken shrimp salad is my favorite... They also have great seafood platters and during he colder days the French onion soup is one of my go to dishes. Definitely won't disappoint. read more

In my opinion, the food at Southside is average at best. Why they are so busy is beyond me. I have never had a really good meal there. Most of the time that I have eaten there , I have been someone else's guest. This is not a place I would select on my own. read more

Been here twice. The staff are nice. Last time we had the stuffed mushroom, I thought that was good! This time I had happy hour fried mushroom, it was hands down good! It was the most fresh fried mushroom I've ever hand. They batter it them self. Most places serves frozen breaded mushrooms. I can tell they freshly batter everything that they fry. I had some fried oysters and tuna. Had some chile cheese fries I wasn't too fond of it. Most dishes comes with lettuce and bread, so you can make a sandwich out of anything there. More bang for the Bucks! read more

Great food again! Wife had shrimp salad and French onion soup, I had the BLT and French onion soup, server was excellent...... time after time great service and food! read more

This is the first first time I have ever been here... really like the atmosphere.... We have the crawfish balls and stuff mushrooms which I will have again on our next visit. We did sit at the Bar and had great service. The menu seems to be very extensive but everything we saw that came out of the kitchen looked really good! We cannot wait to come back and they more of everything! read more

Passing thru and stopped here to take a break and eat. Service and food excellent. We will be stopping on our way back home too!

The food is great, the service is great. I personally love the atmosphere, but I am a Viet Nam Vet, so I am biased by their honoring of vets. I have eaten here many, many times. I have never ordered anything I didn't truly enjoy. I've brought friends who had the same experience. I would give it 5 stars, but it is already too crowded at lunchtime. read more

Fantastic as always! Went there yesterday for lunch. We can't get enough of this place! Food was awesome, atmosphere was awesome and our server Brooke was awesome, always a pleasure. Great game, Who Dat! read more

Worth the trip from California to Slidell. Everything was AMAZING. We definitely have to come back so we can try everything.

A nice casual restaurant. Filled to capacity when we arrived. We were told 15 minutes but we were seated sooner and waiter appeared immediately. A very well managed operation. We were traveling so we appreciated the splendid food, fast service, great prices and unique ambiance. The Rubin was superb and I enjoyed a seafood gumbo to boot. I ordered a cup of gumbo but they were out of cups so they substituted a bowl instead. Poor me. ;-) read more

I'm a local here an this place used to be great! Idk what has happened but we had a party of 5 an none of us were happy with the food! It was steak night, the server was great but the cook needs lessons! Burger was salty, chicken tortilla soup had stale chips in it, plus the chicken wasn't even cut up, just one giant chunk of chicken thrown in. Gumbo was wayyy too rich! I could go on and on but I think Yal get the point, spend your money elsewhere! read more

Oh la la the French onion soup is fabulous. Also Southside's Famous Reuben sandwich is just that Famous, Delicious, Scrumptious. Will return. read more

This place is ok. Just need to use less salt. Prices are alright. Nice atmosphere. Hard to get hired onto.

Ate here once, the food was over priced and the staff was not friendly at all.. when I asked for a refill on my drink because my waiter was outside smoking it took 20 minuets just to get a fresh water read more
