Enjoy visiting this restaurant every time I am in town. Always friendly and the food is good. Bread pudding is exceptional.

Our first visit to Southside Cafe. Fried chicken was good. Service could be much improved.

Have been coming to this place for years. Great food, large portions, reasonably priced. Some of our favorites are the stuffed bell pepper soup on the first Wednesday of each month. The red beans and rice special on Monday, the muffuletta and onion rings. They have a large menu to please everyone! read more

Love their tuna dip and French onion soup! They have a wide variety on their menu. Always crowded, so food must be great!

Awesome experience with great friends! Food and service is incredible, and we can't wait to go back read more

They have a few TVs also for those who are interested in sports and news You never go away hungry from this place. Big portions and great prices. They even have a loyalty program after 10 visits you get a 25$ gift certificate. I highly recommend South Side. read more

This place is on our weekly nights of favorite places to eat. The ponchartrain pig is a huge hit! Delicious!

Great restaurant!! Taylor was awesome. The King Cake Martini is amazing. Food is so delicious!

The food was blah....it def didn't meet my satisfaction for their high prices.... You can go to the New Orleans franchise seafood restaurant and get better food for around the same prices. read more

Good food, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Reasonable price and generous portions.

Good food, sometimes over salty, but generally good. Love the ambiance ( friendly, crowded, locals) but it is very loud. Overall, go but be ready for loud. read more

Southside Cafe is so much more than a cafe. This local restaurant in Slidell, Louisiana is fantastic! Have breakfast, lunch or dinner at a table or at the bar. I had the Eggs Benedict Ponchartrain w/ a side of cheese grits and it was excellent. I was thirsty so the Big Bloody Mary w/ pickled okra & green beans and plenty of smoked Applewood bacon was to die for. They welcome everyone but it appears this local establishment may be owned by a veteran as I observed the decor. The meals are plentiful and reasonably priced. The staff out front and in the kitchen seem to enjoy working here. Definitely a place to return to on my next visit! read more

Excellent Ruben sandwich....excellent hamburger....excellent service....nothing more need be said except to go there between 2pm - 5pm when it's not quite so crowded.... read more

Went with a friend who visits this place often all the way from Biloxi, MS. We had a girls trip to New Orleans and stopped for a late lunch. We got there for the 3pm Wednesday special. Everything she said about this places food was spot on. We both had the chicken and sausage gumbo; amazing. I ordered the Big Mo Jamma sandwich and she the Bonfuca French Dip; overstuffed with meat. Both had to take half of our sandwiches home. I would go here again. True New Orleans cuisine. read more

So glad we stopped here. Was looking for a local spot outside of the city and this was perfect. Seafood gumbo was great, seafood basket was even better!!! Great food and great service! Will definitely add this as a stop on our next trip. ROLL TIDE ROLL! read more

Visiting in the area. Nice atmosphere. The chicken and sausage gumbo was delicious. My son had the brisket burger and he devoured it!! Lol..."Nicole's" service was prompt, funny, and friendly! Look forward to going back... read more

Great atmosphere and friendly staff! Fried mushrooms, fried onion rings, and the burgers were the best we have ever had!

Good food, very fast service, and nice atmosphere. The only issue I can say about this place is the chicken and sausage gumbo is mediocre, anyone from LA knows you don't put tomatoes in a gumbo but to each there own. The Chili cheese fries are really good and the one of the best Philly cheese steaks my wife had ever had. Would definitely return to try other menu items. read more

Outstanding food! The catfish jambalaya special was to die for and plenty enough for two people. Taylor, Our server,Was one of the most delightful, efficient and caring server I've ever had.Amust place to eat. read more

Southside Cafe - Crawfish poboy - American Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

Great service, great food, great atmosphere! My husband and I ate here last night and had the Killa Fries as an appetizer (awesome appetizer btw). I ordered the Bonfuca French Dip and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a very long time! The provolone and seasoning MAKES that dish! The only negative issue was that both our first choice orders were unavailable (stuffed shrimp and crawfish tails) which was disappointing, but still an awesome place to eat! read more

This is the best local restaurant in town for sure. It gets very busy though. I highly recommend using the app "NoWait" to save your place in line before heading there. The sauce for the onion rings is great. Our favorite menu item is the buffalo chicken sandwich. 1/2 lb of chicken breast! All of their buffalo sauces are great. If you like yours really hot, either atomic or swamp burner are my favorites. read more

It's always a pleasure to eat at this place. So far everything that was ordered was good. It's normally a wait to sit and dine but worth the wait read more

Cold cheap drinks, good food for reasonable price and lots of character. What else is there to say?

I used to love this place. The food is always good. I started going there with the guys from work. Loved it. Actually gave gift cards to mom & dad from here. The atmosphere is now hit or miss. The bar aspect is taking over at times. Had a terrible visit due to very rude young cutesie hostess. Followed by insults from 3 drunk couples fresh off a fishing trip. Went for lunch and ended up actually losing my appetite. When we talked to the manager about the hostess, she immediately took up for her. I will not ever return there. The food is great, but the customer service actually did make me sick to my stomach, literally. read more

This was a nice spot off the highway with delicious poboys, gumbo and French onion soup. They have a kids menu and the server was excellent. We also got 15% off with yelp. The desserts looked amazing but we were too full to try them. read more

We ate at south side tonight and gabby provided absolutely outstanding service. I would rate the establishment and her service top shelf. She recommended the bushwacker and it was awesome! Definitely will be back and will ask for her. read more

Consistently good good food at reasonable prices. New Orleans-style cuisine in a unique military-themed decor. My favorite is the spinach salad with grilled chicken in warm weather, but I've never eaten anything there that I didn't enjoy. Usually fairly busy, but service is good. read more

The sausage and turkey Gumbo is out of this world and if you pair it with Southsides potato salad it will not disappoint. we don't often care for Potato Salad anyone makes other that our own. just very picky on what is in and ow it is put together (if you find that everyone's potsalad is good then you have not had good PotSalad), I digress, there's is aldose as good as my wife's and that came from her. I am telling you with those 2 items you will not go wrong ever!!! Now as for the App I Like the Fried Mushrooms the best (wife and I Do not Agree on this one) and the Wife Dreams about the Crawfish ball I bet her mouth is watering as we speak. and they have others like onion strings that are really good and not burnt or taste like old oil, you find in other places. As We get into the main course the menu is bustling with items the look and smell delicious, my problem is I never get to try them because the "Prime Pork Ribeye" "PEAUX" BOY is melt in your mouth, Slap you momma, leave you girl friend, can I marry this F%$!g "PEAUX" BOY please, good. that I never get to try anything else there when I go there. I know then some would say go more often and this problem would go away, and this may be true. As soon as I am pulling up to the parking lot seeing the multicolored Adirondack chairs it starts calling to me and I get the pork sweets, and even thinking about ordering something different, gets further and further from my mind. this pork is marinated in something that gives it the sweetest flavor when it is grilled and it is tender-er-er than baby veal in milk. Just look at it and think knife and it splits open. After Gumbo, Pot Salad , I usually only get through half the PoBoy and I have to tap out!!! so I have never gotten desert. not that I don't want anything I never look at it because there is no way to fit anything else in there I am Full to the Brim!!!! As For Atmosphere if you are into sports bar with hundreds of TV playing everything from Curling to Space invaders this is not that kind of place . But if you are looking to sit back enjoy your food and watch a local LSU game and or chant Who Dat!!! then this is your place I really Cant say enough about this place I know I have not said anything bad about the staff because I defy you to try them and give a bad review your self !!! you wont be able to and then you have had a awesome meal nd enjoyed a place we love to go to!!!!! read more
