    Catfish dinner
    Lori S.

Hubs, friends, and I went riding yesterday and ended up here for a mid afternoon lunch. Everyone besides myself had eaten at Southernaire before, and highly recommended it. When we walked in it appeared as if it was closed, but the sign on the door said open and a sign inside said to seat yourself. We were the only customers. I'm told they usually have a great salad bar and buffet, but with the pandemic, it's menu only. Perfect for me, I'm not a fan of buffets anyway. Service was good, but she didn't give her name. My friends and I all had catfish dinners, which were really tasty. My husband had the BEST Reuben he's EVER had. Now let me say this, my husband is 137 years old and has eaten a whole lot of Reubens in his life!! I do believe we'll be stopping in again!

Patti melt with fries and a side salad from the great salad bar.

My lone complaint was that we stayed here during renovations. They had appropriately provided signage noting that the laundry and gym facilities were closed due to the rehab work going on, but we still had to pay north of $200 for the stay, even with those amenities not be usable. Sort of thought there would be a "pardon our dust" discount. Oh well. The free breakfast in the morning which started at an impressive 6am was excellent. Staffer had it up and running right on time, and the food area was as clean and tidy as I have ever seen with a great selection of items. All in all, a practical place to stay that will soon be a much nicer version of itself.

The room was perfect, no issues at all with our stay. We had booked a different hotel and it was disgusting so we found Holiday Inn and they helped us out in every way possibly and even worked to get us a refund from the other place, which they did not have to do. For our first night of our honeymoon, this was a perfect place to stay.

We had the smoked prime rib which was tender enough to cut with a fork and almost the perfect amount of smoke. Maybe a bit too much but still tasty. It was next door to a gonja store so as you walked thru the front door you got a big whiff of smoke. My gps took us to the back door for some reason but we drove around the square and found parking in the front.
