This is one of those places that all the locals go to and with good reason. The staff are very friendly and the food is legit. The smoked chicken was moist and delicious. The pulled pork baked potato was smothered in butter and delicious. The onion rings were beer battered and tasty. The only thing I didn't care for was the macaroni and cheese. I got a family barbecue pack. It came with 2 sides . We got white beans ,which were the best I've had! We got oakra and it was fresh and good .I bought a small side of banana pudding and omg THE BEST !! I have not had banana pudding this delicious sense before my mammie passed. Def give this little gem a try.The building it is in could use a fresh update ,Its kinda old and in disrepair.The southern food was top notch. If I'm honest the barbecue did not stand out one way or the other because the sides were over the top!!! read more

Stopped in for lunch today and ordered the bbq chicken nacho fries. Absolutely horrible decision. Witnessed the cook microwave the chicken, meaning it was most likely from the day before and then I'm assuming squirted vinegar on the chicken by the taste. While the food was horrible, the waitress was extremely nice. The restaurant could definitely stand a good cleaning as well. I would not recommend to my worst enemy! read more

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The server was great, but it was all down hill other than that. The place was not clean, the food wait was long, and the food was awful. I definitely would not call this bbq. I ordered the bbq chicken fries. The dish consisted of cold fries covered with plain shredded chicken that I witnessed being microwaved & melted American cheese. There was no other toppings or sauces given. The chicken was definitely old. In fact, I witnessed it being microwaved before being placed on my fries. I left there disgusted. We had a half chicken plate with white beans and vinegar slaw, chicken sandwich with mayo slaw, a cheeseburger and chili-cheese fries- all were good. Staff was very friendly. Took some of their little pies to go with us. UPDATE: I'm not sure it was Papa's or where we ate dinner but we ended up with food poisoning, and it made me realize I should be more picky with where we eat. Papa's could definitely be cleaned up. I love small hometown businesses and always try to shop and eat at places that are individually owned and operated, and this place is a very small family owned restaurant and smokehouse! They even serve breakfast 6 days a week starting at 5am!!! Absolutely amazing food, and the people are fantastic and down to earth! I will eat here many many many more times and highly recommend everyone else to do the same! We go there from Clarksville (about a 30 mins or so drive) bc it is absolutely worth it! read more

I have driven by this place 100's of times on our way from Memphis to Clarksville and always said one of the days I'm going to stop. Well we finally did and we weren't disappointed. Got the Pulled Pork Sandwich (actually 6 of them) with hot sauce. The sauce really isn't that hot (by my standards) but is an excellent Carolina Style sauce. Really made the sandwich. The pulled pork is as good as anything I've had any where else. Some joints in Memphis (know for Bar-B-Q) could take a lesson from this place. Relatively inexpensive and the staff if friendly and efficient. Worth going out of the way for. If you want fancy, take your cloth napkins and go somewhere else. read more

If you want authentic Southern BBQ this place rocks! We drove almost an hour, which was marvelous to begin with (kids loved the ferry across the river) but if this is your destination it's all the more worth it! All of the dishes were juicy and flavorful. Not to smoky or spicy just fantastic flavor. The meats are served with no sauce. You must ask for it. The hot is vinegar based and out of this world, the thick more resembles what most people consider BBQ sauce. Sides were all great, the vinegar slaw was the bomb, the fried pickles were the best I've ever had. The iced tea is even worth the drive. We sat on the enclosed porch which is fully screened, and beautiful..... They were vape and kid friendly. We left with a pound or so to go, with some fried pies and hone made pork rinds. read more

We started eating at Papa's BBQ two or three years ago (time gets away from me) and it's the best BBQ i have eaten. Of course I haven't been to "every" BBQ place out there but within my circle, it's the best. I use to have another favorite that was just 10 minutes from my house and was so opinionated about it that I rarely did more then taste other BBQ. My daughter told me about Papa's and once I ate it, well....... the rest is history! I have not been back to my previous favorite since. We drive approximately 45 to 50 minutes to get there, but it's well worth it. Their other food is great too. My son-in-law LOVES the steaks. No it's not fancy surroundings but at 60 year's old, I have discovered that fancy is well overrated. Just go try them....... They don't disappoint. read more

Its a BBQ place where you can have almost anything you want. I would recommend going friday and Saturday after 4pm. They have a steak and fish special. read more

The BBQ there is good, though it is not pulled but rather shredded. It does make it hard to keep on the bun and I would very much prefer pulled. The flavor is good, but the BBQ is not all they have! They have a fantastic hamburger, the tastiest in town! They also have a Fantastic Hamburger steak and baked potato that they really should advertise, it is delicious! The sides are great and flavorful, I recommend anyone stop in and get lunch or dinner. I hear they have breakfast too, but I haven't tried that yet. I had high hopes for this place. The tables are greasy. The chairs are dirty and sticky. The bathroom is disgusting. The hallway to the bathroom is disgusting. On two occasions, I exited the bathroom to see large plastic tubs full of corn muffins. They looked like tubs from the laundry section at Walmart. I use the same plastic tub to bathe my dog. These are not food grade nor are they safe for food. No telling what toxic chemicals are leaching into the corn muffins. I've been to PaPa's six times. Five of the six times I've visited, they were out of what I wanted to order. I can understand periodically running out of things but five of six visits is ridiculous. Each time we've eaten there, we arrived during early dinner hours. We didn't arrive late and expect a full menu selection. I understand. The owners don't want to risk wasting food and thus losing money. They would rather inconvenience customers. Each time I've visited Papa's, we drive almost an hour into the middle of nowhere. Oh, and if you want a fountain drink, forget it. Instead, you can substantially over pay for a warm can of soda and servers will bring you a greasy plastic cup of ice. There are no refills on soda. Save your money. It's just not worth it. I'm terribly disappointed. I truly hoped to love this place. On a positive note, the servers have always been helpful and sweet. read more

We were in Erin to grab some geocaches and decided to get lunch too. I don't go out of my way for BBQ, but the pork sandwich was really good. The meat was flavorful even without sauce, and the bun was overflowing. My husband had a BBQ plate lunch with the vinegar slaw and potato salad sides. He said everything was good. The service was quick and friendly; and though not fancy, the restaurant was clean. If I'm ever this way again, I will stop. read more
