Free parking and boarding the train was so close. To take Amtrak to SF, the train stop is Emeryville, where you board an Amtrak bus that takes you into SF. There were additional stops at Fairfield, Martinez, Richmond and Berkeley before arriving in Emeryville. Be sure to hurry boarding the bus though, because there's not much time between arriving and departure. The total trip was 2 hours. I really liked being able to relax on the ride instead of dealing with the traffic.

The trains are clean, and the conductors friendly, and it usually goes off without a hitch. Occasionally, there are delays (such as when the Benicia Bridge is up to allow maritime traffic to pass, or infrequent mishaps). When they do occur, communication could be better, but that would be my only complaint. You can bring your bike or scooter aboard (most cars have three spaces, plus there is one that holds 13. In the early morning, the bike/luggage car is also the quiet car, and usually kept dark as well. In the afternoon, if you do not need to go past Sacramento, avoid #538, as it gets very full (often no bike racks or seats are open). The #536 and #540 have plenty of room and run within half an hour. As for the actual station, it's too bad that there is a fair amount of trash and vandalism, because it's a cute historic building. Staff are wonderful. One of them was very helpful when there was a cancelled train, I was able to get onto a Starliner with existing ticket.

I take the bus P almost every morning and the bus driver never greets me, I've seen them roll their eyes, some say "okay" or nod their head. Before COVID the bus drivers were super excited to be the drivers and their communication was on point. Also, some Sac City Student cards are "not valid" which online they are valid. It costs $9.75 one way and gets you from the UC Berkeley campus to the UC Davis campus is about 1 hour and 15 minutes (that's how it's been in my experience). For me, I also have to add on BART fair, so it can cost at least $25 roundtrip using the shuttle+BART. I could get picked up, but it's easier on my family to have me commute, plus it's cheaper than taking Amtrak to Richmond then BART. At Davis you'll dropped off behind Shields Library so it's a short walk from the Silo and MU bus stations. At Berkeley, just walk up a few blocks on Shattuck and turn right on Addison or University Ave and that's where the pick up/drop off area is (Crescent Springer Gateway). In short, I really like this service. It's only available on the weekdays and spaces go fast during the holidays and Fridays/Mondays, so plan ahead.

Dialysis is a life-saving treatment that must be done on schedule, and Issac really let us down by not showing up for this commitment.
