I thought this place was great. Two blocks from the UC Davis campus and a few blocks from the heart of downtown Davis. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is easy and free. It's also away from most of the downtown noise so it's pretty quiet. This is a super cute hotel, that has a mix of hotel rooms and cottages/duplexes. We had rooms on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Spacious room with a sitting area, couch and table with a chair. Mini fridge and microwave. The color and decor of the rooms were very inviting. The room doors are a bit heavy, so they sometimes don't latch close, there is actually an alarm on them letting you know you haven't latched your door. Such a great idea and for safety. The property is quaint with lots of trees surrounding it. Great location downtown Davis right near the university. Looking forward to staying here in the future. read more

Great little cottages. However, the couch pull out is horrible and they did not have any replacement mattresses. Only one person working the counter and it was very busy. I really wanted to like this place. I booked it as a treat to myself on my way to my new home in Oregon. It looks great. Great location in Davis. Modern and spacious. Premium price but I figured it's worth it for a rare treat. BTW the "cottage" king suite was $239 all included. Now here comes the problems. First thing, the cottages are not cottages. They are triplexes, or quadruplexes or something. They are not standalone suites. They are not cottages, in other words. They're just suites in a larger building. Also, the place is not clean. I mean, really not clean. I found long black hairs on the bathroom floor and on the bathroom sink counter. A scraggly black hair is in the soap dish. Bad enough. I took off my shoes and when I walked around, my socks stuck to the floor! Housekeeping missed the many sticky stains on the floor, presumably from soft drinks but who knows? I complained to management, who really had no authority to do much and couldn't reach her manager. She showed me 2 other "cottages" and what do you know? They both also have those same long black hairs on the floor. So I suspect it is from the housekeeper herself. Her hair is falling out. Covid? Could be - that is a symptom, though I think it's a lagging symptom, not a leading one. If I get sick this might be where it happened. I want to believe they're being honest about not booking the room for 48 hours between guests but I really have no idea. No way to check. The woman on duty showed me the only two cottage rooms that she said hadn't been occupied in a couple of days. For my trouble, stress, anxiety, and for having to get on my own hands and knees to spot clean the floor, I was offered a 20% discount. Better than nothing. And that's why two stars instead of one. Oh and check out the rag in the photos. I don't think housekeeping EVER mops these floors. On the plus side, I examined the bedsheets and I didn't find bedbugs. Perhaps they solved that issue which was reported by other Yelpers some years ago. I did see numerous small stains on the white sheets. They ought to learn the joys of bleach because these sheets definitely were NOT bleached and these days, it's sort of the least a hotel should be doing between guests. This place does not befit its price point. People need to be dismissed, in particular housekeeping - before they get someone sick with COVID or whatever else it is that's making their hair fall out and screwing up their vision so they can't see it. In case it wasn't already obvious, I'll add that I don't expect to return. Great location - near downtown Davis. The suites are reasonably priced. They are little cottages with lots of room. A bit hard to control the temperature though because the heater is in one room and there is a door to the other room... Which doesnt have amy way to control the temperature. This is a great place to stay if you are taking your pet to Davis Veterinary Medical Hospital. My dog was in the ICU for over two weeks and Aggie Inn provided a great place to stay that was close to the hospital. Less than 5 minutes by car. Dante at the front desk was particularly great. He was compassionate, helpful, knowledgeable about the area, and made our stay, despite the circumstances, easier. I appreciated that he remembered our names after the first day, gave recommendations about the local area, was friendly whenever I saw him, and asked about our dog's health. It shows a great deal of compassion to not only care for your tenants but also to know what they care about. Whenever I had to extend our stay, which we had to a few times, he helped us plan our stay so we wouldn't have to change rooms every time. Although the first room we were assigned was a corner room with traffic on both sides, it was not a busy night and we were moved to a spacious cottage on a quiet residential street. Staff was excellent. Breakfast included. Near restaurants, attractions and right across from campus. Talk about location, location, location! Room was very clean and comfortable. Lacked nothing. This is our 4 th time staying here and first time staying in one of the beautiful cottages. The cottage was just lovely with a separate living room and 2 wide screen TV s. Very modern decor. The bathroom also was well appointed with everything you need separate area for vanity and private shower with spa tub. Great breakfast served daily complimentary. Not really worth the price. My husband and I booked a cottage suite with a king size bed and separate living room. Smelled nice and was very clean. Needs to be updated and jacuzzi bath tub was anything BUT relaxing. The damn jets were so loud my husband and I couldn't hear one another while ... Sharing a tub.... And the light when turned on in the bathroom makes this horrible loud humming sound that never ends. I had a good experience at the Aggie Inn. I have to admit, I was very hesitant to stay here at first after reading all the reviews about bed bugs, but I bit the bullet (it was during graduation weekend so there weren't many choices), and made the reservation. My mom and my 10 month old baby also stayed here in my room. Beforehand, I called the reception several times to make sure they would have a pack'n'pay available and they had it set up in the room when I got there. Sweet. I slept very well during my stay, room was spacious enough and clean. I walked barefoot and my feet weren't dirty at the end of the day. Bathroom was also very clean, and it was nice getting Bath and Body Works soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. We stayed on the second floor in one of the rooms on the outside balcony. I'm a very light sleeper and didn't have any problems with noise. The only drawbacks were that the room was very dark. We ended up leaving our curtains open most of the time just so we could see. Also, by the time my mom went down for breakfast at 9am all the muffins were gone....she also mentioned something about the kook-aid like juice, which I remember seeing from a previous post! Oh, and the drain in the shower was kinda broken so kind of a pain when emptying. No problems with parking (surprisingly); there were always spaces in the lot, but it would be hard to park there if you had a giant SUV. Great place to stay if your visiting Davis for the first time. My brother is at his last year here at davis and for picnic day my parents wanted to try the aggie inn for the first time. The location is great, it's in the middle of everything and my parents had walking distance to the school. You know what's even better? Right across the street is a black bear diner....woot!!! So maby picnic day was a little crazy this year and the inn was surrounded by party goers so the next day I asked them how the night went. Everything was perfect, except I guess for the one drunk guy who thought their room was his....picnic day :) Great rooms, great location and the service is excellent. read more

Third time we've stayed @ the Aggie Inn. It's consistent in (1) convenience to campus and town, (2) inexperienced college student front desk attendees, (3) low building construction and maintenance quality. This time there was improvement in cleanliness, though the room was still shabby. There was no fan in the windowless bathroom where the light was out, leaving a gaping hole in the ceiling. Biggest annoyance is the street noise. This establishment would REALLY benefit from better windows. They apparently know it, too, with the ear plugs that are prominently provided on the bedside table. Nice features: -fruit bowl in the lobby -bikes, though we didn't use them It's odd that there is no elevator in a two-story hotel. read more

I don't care if you ever open again. I would never ever book a reservation again after what happened today. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I spent the night here to get a little r and r. The room is nice, it's clean and within great proximity of UCD and walking to downtown. Parking is horrible, and unless you have a tiny car it will be impossible to get in or out of the lot and there is no free unrestricted parking nearby. My biggest downfall is that the walls are paper thin. I've heard every word of my neighbors conversation (thank goodness they're not here for a romantic getaway!) and that is a deal breaker for me at hotels. At least they provide earplugs in the rooms. For the price, I think I'll try a different hotel next time. read more

Stayed here for a few days was pleasantly surprised. Room (King bed) was clean and updated. Never heard the neighbors other than an occasional front door closing. They provide a fantastic free breakfast in a "serve yourself " style. There was hot oatmeal, mini omelette, sausage and bacon, a waffle maker and a batter dispenser for banana nut or regular waffles. There was a selection of cold cereal, yogurts, boiled eggs, variety of breads, coffee tea and juice. Also regular milk and almond milk. The breakfast room has breakfast laces to sit and a tv. I was impressed such a boutique hotel would offer such a selection and included in the price. I believe it's open from 7am to 10am. Staff are friendly and happy to accommodate your needs. Next time I think I'll try and stay in one of their bungalow's...they were small cottages with their own porch...super cute. read more

I stayed at Aggie Inn during the Feb 19-21 weekend. As a UC Davis alumni, I was looking for something near campus with a good proximity to Downtown Davis. There was ongoing renovations going on for the interior rooms, but because it was the weekend there wasn't any work being done which was great. I had room 217 located on the exterior part of the hotel and accessible by an outside stairwell. The room was well maintained, and included and refridgerator, microwave, and some keurig like machine with pod-like things from Wolfgang Puck. Other rooms had a Keurig which took up space on their desks. Aggie Inn is considered a boutique hotel and while you can stay for cheaper at the Best Western right next store, I would say the extra money is worth it. The breakfast is pretty legit and I even made egg/sausage/bacon sandwiches while there. They also have a waffle machine, fresh fruit, and oatmeal. I would also take advantages of the complimentary bikes they have onsite.They are first come - first serve and there are only 4 of them. I wish they had more kid-friendly bikes since I am under 5 feet, but surprisingly I was able to make do with the adult sized bikes. Since I am a Choice Member I was able to opt for late check in which was great since we didn't have to rush out of our room since we had a late afternoon flight out of Sac Airport. The male front desk attendant ( I never caught his name), was so nice and very helpful. I very much enjoyed his enthusiasm, and he made my stay so much more enjoyable. One star off because one of the lights wasn't working in our room, wear and tear of the bathrooms noticeable, and during check in I was almost not able to check in due to the First Name being different since I share Choice Hotel accounts and not the primary account holder and they weren't present. However, I didn't think it would have been such a problem since our last name's matched and the credit card used to pay for the room was in my name. I think that policy needs to be changed. read more

Now, in the morning of 5/28, when I requested for a late check out, they mention that it is not possible. Three *s for location, rate and bed. Better rate than the Best Western down the street, but maybe they would have been cleaner? We had a lot of old cobwebs on the ceiling and things looked unfinished. We had a room facing the street, a mistake as it's on a busy corner; try to get one facing the parking lot. However, my biggest complaint is the damn pigeons who were making a whole lot of noise at 4am above our ceiling. So much noise that I thought someone was having some sort of medical problem (asthma attack)! The staff was okay. Check-in staff wasn't very helpful or informative. Didn't say anything about breakfast or room rate. Good thing I had read reviews so I knew there was a continental breakfast included. read more

There are 3 really great hotel choices in Davis, and one of them is the Aggie Inn. There are really a lot of great things about this location. It is the closest hotel to the central part of campus, making it really easy to walk to anywhere you might need to be. It is also on the edge of downtown, so walking to the restaurant and bars is super close. But the hotel itself is what I'm really impressed about. The rooms are spacious, especially in the cottages. They have single Kings, double Queens, King or Queen Suites equipped with refrigerators. The staff are usually pretty young, probably students, so they are super friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning is in a small breakfast room, but you can bring it back to your own room and relax! They are also part of the Choice Hotel brand, so you can rack up points with them as you stay. read more

For the price and size of what you get, I highly do not recommend this place. In addition, when I stayed there in May 5/26 I was "charged" on my credit card and split the bill with my friends. However, I come to find out I was not charged until September which shocked me because I assumed I was charged when someone takes my credit card and swipes it in front of me. In September, I called and expressed my concern to the manager Jay Marquez and instead of being accommodating he basically said: "You have already authorized it so it doesn't matter when its charged as long as it's only charged once." I agree to an extent with this statement but in a limited time frame. 4 months later? No. That is just ridiculous and inconsiderate. Some people live paycheck to paycheck, so slapping them with a bill months after and without notice is not professional at all. read more

I decided at the last minute to stay in Davis but did not realize a robotics convention was in town. On my way to the campus from the train station, I stopped at all hotels along the way. There were no openings. When I visited the Aggie Inn, they called around for me and found me a room at a different hotel. That is great customer service! I was so happy with their service that the next time I needed a place to stay, I chose the Aggie Inn. It is comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was good, too. Stayed there for a college visit for our daughter. We had a room on 2nd that faced both streets so pretty loud. The rooms have the AC in room that was very loud. Bed was too firm for my liking. Location was great to walk to restaurants etc. breakfast was similar to a Holiday Inn Express except they did have fresh squeezed OJ and Starbucks coffee. It was a busy weekend so I paid a premium for the room no where close to the value. Staff was nice. read more

We loved it and would definitely stay at The Aggie Inn again. My husband and I stayed here last weekend, with nine other couples. Bri helped us set up a block of rooms and was so accommodating with our questions and the changes we made along the way. From check-in to check-out, we had a wonderful experience. The rooms were nice/very clean, the beds comfortable, updated decor, lots of amenities and the hotel staff was great. When we woke up, some of us went for a bike ride on loaner bikes from the inn and then ate our breakfast outside with the rest of our group...it was a very relaxing stay. read more

These things were known to occur. A room that has a window with no curtain, because you should really just go to bed when it's dark anyway. And a balcony, upon which no man has stood, because it is permanently locked. A white key card with a single italicized word: WELCOME. A colleague who was refused her room but got an upgrade to a cottage which was essentially an entire home. And not to purport that everything is negative. Occurrences include friendly staff, decent breakfast sausages, cookies at the front desk. Since I've never lodged at other Davis facilities, I cannot fully give comment on whether this is the optimal alternative. But I've never had a terrible time here, and I've often had a decent time here. Sometimes an excellent time! read more

The only thing the Aggie Inn had going for it is the location, and by that I mean, if you want to be right next to UC Davis campus and the downtown area this place accomplishes that. Everything else? Be prepared to be disappointed. Nothing in the fitness room worked, the continental breakfast was poorly stocked most days (one morning they had no fruit and I asked if they intended to put any out and was told it would be delivered the next day) and was mediocre at best even when stocked. My friend's room had an A/C that wasn't working and the staff did nothing to fix it (and couldn't move my friends because the hotel was full). Lastly, the "nearby" outdoor pool is several blocks away. read more

So sorry to say but I got eaten alive by bed bugs from this hotel. I was so shocked that at first. I thought it was mosquito bites since I had been out side most of the day but they began to swell and hurt like nothing I had ever had before. I ended up going to my doctor to get pain meds because it was so bad. He confirmed that they were indeed BED BUGS. HORRIBLE. DON"T STAY THERE. read more
