I recently stayed at this property during a business trip to the Davis area. The hotel is clean and modern, and my room was very spacious and comfortable. The check-in experience was sort of odd, as I had to wait over 5 minutes for the desk clerk to arrive. (In general, this place felt pretty understaffed.) The staff I met were definitely helpful and friendly, though. The wifi was strong, and the complimentary breakfast was more than adequate. It's about a 10 minute drive to downtown Davis from here. And, being located right on the freeway, the hotel was a bit loud. It was ok, but I'm not sure I'd seek it out again for a future trip

Middle of the road hotel in Davis. Stayed here for a couple of nights last week. Room was comfortable, with plenty of storage and other amenities. Downsides were road noise from being next to the I-80 freeway, and hotel noise from the barking dog next door! Parking was an extra $10 a night, and breakfast was provided (scrambled eggs, fruit, granola, oatmeal...). Will likely stay elsewhere next time I'm in town.

The fridge inside the room was not cleaned upon arrival

Good: dog friendly, location, and gym Bad: breakfast didn't have cheese or yogurt. Pretty bare-boned. The fridge inside of the room was disgusting and not cleaned. . See picture. And ... it would have been nice if the staff showed they like dogs.

Stayed the night here in Davis to run the Davis Turkey trot. I always enjoy Hyatt House locations. The rooms are huge with the living room/kitchen area. This room has a second room for the beds and bathroom so it's like a 2 apartment type of room. Located off of the freeway, parking is easy, staff are very friendly and they have a great breakfast. Since this is a college down im sure this place can get really busy, also lots of families probably stay here for soccer tournaments nearby too.

Is there street parking in front of this hotel or just lot parking?

Good afternoon, Alicia. We offer parking in our lot. We do not advise parking on the street, as signage states it will tow. Thank you for reaching out!

We stayed in the Happiness Loft, which was cute and unique. The pictures do note that it's not ideal for tall guests, and that's true -- the ceilings are quite low, but it worked fine for us. The highlight of our stay was definitely the spa. I had one of the best massages of my life, and the couples massage experience was wonderful. That said, it was on the pricey side, as was the room rate, though the charm of the property sets it apart from many other Sacramento options we looked at. Breakfast was good, but at $30 per person, it didn't feel like the best value compared to other places we've stayed. The biggest downside for us was the location -- while the hotel itself is lovely, the surrounding neighborhood didn't feel like a place where we could walk around and explore, so we found ourselves driving elsewhere for dinner and activities. Parking was also limited. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and are glad we experienced it. The service, cleanliness, and spa treatments are excellent, but for the price point, I'd likely explore other options next time. For us, this felt like a solid three-star experience.

The server told us they operate out of a food truck. So the menu is limited. But what they make is really good! We ordered the lemonade, chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros divorciados, and the strawberry champagne sherbet. Service was very prompt! The actual menu in-person had a couple items that aren't on the sample menu including a couple more dessert options like fig ice cream. We really liked everything we tried! The portions were pretty good. If coming here for food I'd recommend getting here early since food trucks have limited capacity. You're welcome to stroll around the property both the flower farm and the inn side before or after your meal. The parking situation is a gravel lot. So it may not be the most handicap accessible place. We had a lot of fun stopping by Park Winters. They were setting up for a wedding so the inn side would have been closed for the event starting at 1pm. The check also came with a small map of the property for you to keep. This was very helpful in exploring the property. The only caveat is this is the countryside. Wear long pants or be prepared with insect repellent! Even at 10am in the summer my legs were bitten by mosquitoes. (Type O blood. Mosquito magnet here.) I'd like if they burned some citronella candles to help with mosquitoes. The rest of the dining venue was so thoughtfully designed including timed misters (like at theme parks) to help keep the area cool. Definitely check it out if you're curious or in the area.

The Grill/…read morerestaurant portion of the business has closed but Martha saved my caboose in a caffeine emergency! I was staying at an AirBnB in nearby Walnut Grove that was poorly stocked (I didn't book it - was there for a wedding nearby). Turns out - Walnut Grove isn't a grocery haven, meaning - called 6 places looking to purchase coffee to have enough for the duration of the stay (business week). I called 'grocery stores' from google & yelp - there's a 'convenience store' in town and when I called the guy who picked up seemed irritated I'd called asking about what coffee they sold. After being told they sold "coffee in a container that doesn't say how much there is, it's $14 and Folgers but it's in a container too and I don't know how much there is" (Actual quote, laughing out loud remembering), then called cafe's that make/ sold coffee (anywhere I saw latte or cup o joe) & that's how I ended up calling Martha. When she picked up "Hi, I saw that you have a cafe - I'm wondering if you sell coffee beans or grounds" to which she said "well, I have a keurig and you can have those or I can probably make a pot if that's what you prefer". After explaining my dilemma - she offered to sell me loose keurig's to get me through my stay! She seemed ruffled that my AirBnB didn't cover enough for the duration of the stay so looking forward to enjoying her hospitality at the AirBnB in the future! She was heading out to karaoke & I didn't wan to hold her up so I thanked her and relayed I'd suffer non- caffeination while we both laughed. She said I was en route and came by the AirBnB! For $4 (only cash I had on me), she gave me a huge fistful of keurigs (got me through the stay with a couple to spare!) , gave me recommendations for places in town, invited me to karaoke & to swing by the AirBnB (sounds adorable!). Martha was such a wonderful breathe of fresh air! If I'm ever in this part of Sacramento again, I know the AirBnB I'm checking out & have excellent tips on where to eat/ peruse in town! I've stayed at…read morethis hotel many times over the years and have referred countless friends, family members, and clients who have also booked stays here. Because of that history, I never expected to be treated this way. We experienced a genuine family emergency that forced us to leave early and requested a refund for our unused Sunday and Monday nights. These were weekday nights not a weekend or holiday, and the hotel kept 100% of the charges for both nights despite us not being there. What made the situation even worse was the amount of time we had to spend going back and forth during an already stressful family emergency. The front desk staff repeatedly told us they understood and agreed a refund was appropriate, but the owner instructed them not to issue one. For several days, staff members seemed confused about the situation, while the owner/manager refused to respond to phone calls or text messages. We were left waiting, following up repeatedly, and receiving no direct communication from the person making the decision. I understand businesses have cancellation policies, but there should also be room for compassion and reasonable discretion, especially for LOYAL, repeat guests who have spent thousands of dollars over the years and have personally referred many others to stay here. Unfortunately, this experience erased years of goodwill. Customer service is tested when something unexpected happens, and this hotel failed that test. We will NEVER stay here again, and after this experience, I can no longer recommend it to friends, family, or clients. What a HUGE disappointment Cottage Grove. Not the way you treat your loyal customers.

The…read moreproperty is charming at first glance--beautiful garden setting, cottage-style rooms on a tree-lined street, and very friendly, warm service. The grounds are well kept and the inn is clean, with clear potential to be a truly special place. However, at nearly $700 per night on a weekend, the experience fell well short of expectations. The property feels underinvested. The furnishings are dated and worn rather than intentionally antique, and the bathroom is significantly outdated. Towels were also visibly old and frayed. The biggest issue was the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable--more like old, degraded foam than a supportive mattress--and made sleep difficult, with noticeable motion transfer even with a partner. We pulled back the bedding and found an old foam topper over a worn, stained mattress. Using a photo of the manufacturer's label, we determined the mattress was manufactured in September 1996 and likely purchased at Square Deal Mattress Factory in Chico, CA. If accurate, that would make the mattress over 30 years old, which is far beyond any reasonable replacement cycle for a hospitality property at this price point. Breakfast was also disappointing--limited, mostly store-bought items such as stale croissants, basic English muffins, and very weak coffee with minimal quality or attention to detail. In summary, Cottage Grove Inn has a beautiful setting, clean rooms, and excellent staff, but the lack of investment in core comfort elements--especially beds, bathrooms, and furnishings--makes the value difficult to justify. I would not return at the current price level without significant updates.
