At first when I saw the 1 star reviews I was concerned, but then I found out that those reviews reflected previous ownership and not the people who are running it now. I wish Yelp would let owners create a new page when ownership changes. That being said, I can't imagine a better experience than what we had at the Abbey House Inn. From the booking to the greeting on arrival, we knew we would be well taken care of. It's conveniently located a block and a half from "downtown" Winters and a short walk to The Buckhorn Grill for dinner and the Putah Creek Cafe for breakfast. We expected a certain level of funk for the age of the house and the reasonable price, but we were pleasantly surprised. The house was clean, well cared for and ridiculously stocked with everything from snacks, candy, toiletries for pretty much every need, and most importantly, a comfortable bed. We go to Winters ever year to meet family and staying at the Abbey House Inn is now going to be our annual tradition. read more

We are already are planning another trip back with no concert just to enjoy Abbey House Inn and all this adorable town of Winters has to offer. We just spent a night after a lunch at a nearby farm where we subscribe to a weekly produce delivery. The Inn was lovely,spotless and quiet. What impressed me was the amenities in the room. There was everything that one might have forgotten. I have seen much less in available in more expensive lodging. If you didn't think you had a reason to visit Winters, you do now. What a diamond this place is. The owners, Pam and Eric, are beyond hospitable. From the warm and friendly text messages, to the abundant snacks and candies, lovely decor, every hygiene product you could possibly need, a jacuzzi bathtub, very comfy bed...My stay felt luxurious. I was especially touched that Pam generously let me change my stay date, because I got completely lost and flustered by traffic when I'd initially planned to stay. This quaint little inn is so understated, but really was such a great place to stay. The common areas and room were so cozy, it felt like an old fashioned bed & breakfast, but without feeling out-dated. The decor and design were clearly intentionally given a classic look, but many areas of the house were updated with clean, nice bathrooms and a large, well-designed kitchen. The Abbey House is so well-located in Winters, it's an easy walk to all of the great restaurants and bars. But, the best part is the value! It is situated across the street from the posh Hotel Winters, and enjoys many of the same amenities, for less than half the price! I feel like I will be making excuses to visit adorable and fun Winters in the future, and this will be my go-to place to stay! read more

We booked a one night stay for our overnighter in Winters at the Abbey House Inn. There was one room available, so we had the Bernhardt Suite with a double bed. There was no proprietor on site, but the emailed instructions we received before our visit were clear and helpful. Inside, there is an inviting sitting area downstairs with a nice selection of books. The kitchen is well equipped with a bit of options for a help yourself breakfast and snacks. Our room was clean, quaint and had a nice charm to it. Though the ceiling in the bathroom was angled, and yes I clearly saw that, I still must have smacked my head in it (lightly) more than a couple of times. For breakfast, we helped ourselves to hard boiled egg, English muffin, coffee and biscotti. Nobody else was downstairs when we were having breakfast, so ours a nice quiet time. We enjoyed looking at the photos of the property downstairs that depicted its restoration from the former state of the building. The property is within easy walking distance to the little downtown - literally, one block walk and you are there. A nice, clean and well-priced lodging option in a very enjoyable California small town. Highly recommended. read more

There is nothing worse than tweeking a muscle in your back right when you are suppose to be going on a long trip by car. Last week Darrel and I were going to attend a medical conference in Annaheim. It's something we do every year to keep up with the latest medical information. However, the day before we were to leave, all I did was reach for a hanger sidewaze that caused extreme low back pain. So the trip had to be cancelled, but instead we decided to go to Cashe Creek for a little getaway. I was able to get a last minute room at the "Abbey House Inn" in downtown Winters, which turned out to be highlight of entire week. This little gem is so under utilized during the weekdays that we had the entire house to ourselves. We got the best room in the house and got to explore all the other rooms too. I highly recommend staying there, and everything in Winters is within walking distance from there. Just google Abbey House in Winters CA, and you will find it. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. We never made it to Cashe Creek, but got to explore a lot of Winters, CA instead. read more

We rented the entire Abbey House Inn for my wedding weekend last June. The place itself is beautiful, clean, and totally charming. But it was really the owners who went above and beyond to make our stay great. I called last minute to see if there was a room available and there had been a cancellation so Pam told me to go ahead and show up. My guest ended up being unable to show up however when I got there I was instantly in love. The house is so adorable. I was in the blue room upstairs and it was perfect. I really had no need to even unpack most of my overnight bag. Everything was supplied (see the pics). There was even plugs for both IPhone AND Android phones already plugged into the wall! I almost fell over haha. I ventured downstairs to poke around and saw games, books, guides, TV and in the kitchen there was already so much food and snacks! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take anything there was just so much. (I did of course). I'll let the pictures I took show off what I was in awe of. All I can say is if you are looking for a romantic getaway I HIGHLY recommend this place. It wasn't the same without my other half but even so I still felt right at home as soon as I arrived. I wish I could have stayed longer. Next time! One last thing. In my room there were several different cards that had different offers on them. A few were for free appetizers at nearby pubs and restaurants. And then there were a few cards with complimentary wine tasting. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Abbey House Inn on Friday the 13th. (01-13-12). We arrived at about 3:15 PM for our 4:00 reservation. We were greeted by Cindy (the owner). She offered a tour of the main floor and our room (Sherlock Holmes Room). We found the room very well appointed with antiques, queen bed, and private bath. Cindy also offered tips on places to eat (with discounts), wine and cheese tastings (with discounts), ETC. Everything was within three blocks of the Abbey, so we walked to everything. The Abbey sits across the street from the court house (used to also be the police station, now moved into new building), and close to everything. We were only in town one night, and saw zero trouble or problems in Winters. Every place we went, we only found friendly and kind people. Everyone we passed on the street, was polite, and offered a kind word. We had outstanding eats (Cindy was most helpful in this area), great cheese, and outstanding wines. Who would have known this little gem was in such a quaint little town ! Well worth the drive to Winters, and is on our list of places to visit again. John & Patty read more

The girlfriend found this place when we came to Winters for a wedding reception. It was first-rate. The upkeep and quality were phenomenal. I've never been so comfortable in a bed and breakfast. Quiet, quaint, and very relaxing. It's within a few blocks of the cute little downtown where there are some awesome restaurants and a great breakfast place. The town is highly recommended as a getaway (peach and apricot orchards everywhere, rolling hills surrounding it - beautiful). Also, Abbey House Inn uses eco-friendly everything: cleaning supplies, soaps, toilet paper, you name it. Great place, incredibly nice people operating it. Can't go wrong here. read more

This is the best Airbnb spot that I have ever booked. The host, Pam bent over backwards to make our stay - just amazing! Charming, spotless, comfy - everything. I didn't want to leave. We had the "De Winters" room with the private entrance, gas fireplace, & Whirlpool Tub, and amazingly comfy bed. Very private w/ little deck. Historical downtown Winters is 2 blocks away - The Palms Playhouse/Winters Opera House was featuring the 40 year old band from Mill Valley, California - "The Christmas Jug Band". WOW, What a surprise in the middle of nowhere..!! My wife and I stopped there overnight for a weekend getaway. From the meticulous room, gracious proprietor (Cindy), and the warm town, this was about as good as it gets. The Inn is literally a block away from "downtown" with great restaurants, a nightclub and a few saloons. It is also directly across the street from the police department that safety was never a concern. This is an adorable little Victorian house with great possibilities, however we were greatly disappointed. We never saw any staff. We let ourselves In and out. For breakfast we walked a few blocks to a local cafe. Food was good but the credit we were given was not enough to pay for the meal. At $165. plus tax for a B & B, this was not a good experience. It seemed like the perfect stop on our road trip from Portland to Santa Barbara. But no, we would never recommend this place. You would be much better off stopping at one of the many highway motels for the night. read more

Stayed two nights with my wife and three other couples, all college friends from UC Davis. Had a wonderful time. The inn had a great location, off street parking and was within two short blocks of numerous restaurants and wine tasting places. Complimentary wine tasting cards were in each room. We had brought some breakfast items, but found the kitchen well stocked with basics for a continental breakfast to start the day. Rooms were well stocked with sundries. Everything was very clean and well kept. There is a nice covered front porch area to sit outside and relax and visit with friends. read more

All the great reviews are about Cindy. Unfortunately she has sold to Bruce, who doesn't seem very interested in the Inn. I tried to book a room for our wedding night. Bruce works out of town and it took 4 tries to set an appointment so I could see the place. When he heard the word wedding, he decided we needed to rent the whole house, "For wedding parties, this is the preferred booking method. Thank you for checking with us." He couldn't seem to hear that our intimate ceremony only had 15 invited guests, all but 2 of whom live locally. Even if I'd wanted the whole house, the price he quoted me was more than the total of the 5 rooms combined. read more

I try not to give 1 stars but this place gives false advertisement. My husband got this place for my birthday because we had such a great time in half moon bay. This place is darling. All decked out with little knick knacks. Our room was nice right in the middle with an electric fireplace. The shower curtain fell in the middle of the night and on the second night there was a huge yelling match between a couple in the next room on the other. We never once saw anyone attached to the establishment. We recieved $50 to the local cafe. (Great food!) The coffee within the house was stale so I drank tea the other mornings. Plus we had instructions everywhere on who to use things, how to recycle, and how to wash. I don't know how much my husband paid buy he said he paid a lot. The only star this place has is its location. This place dosent have much to offer. I would not recommend this place. read more

We had a wedding in Winters and found this gem. It is a short drive from anywhere in the Sacramento Vacaville area and it is in the quaint town of Winters. We were greeted by our host Bruce who was knowledgable and gracious. The Inn is charming and spacious. The rooms are also spacious and very well appointed. The place was beyond comfortable. Bruce asked us about what time we wanted breakfast and what a wonderful breakfast it was. From the freshly cut fruit to the local bacon, all was a delight. Everything in this town is in walking distance and do not let the small town fool you. There are wonderful restuarants, saloons, small markets for everyones taste. We HIGHLY recommend this place for weekend travelers, business travelers, vacationers or rent the house for a reunion, wedding or any special occasion. You will not be disappointed. My mother and my husband's aunts and uncles stayed at the Abbey House Inn for a wedding last summer when we got married in the area. We found Cindy, the manager of the inn, to be a bit disorganized but, overall, fine. She agreed to meet our family at 3pm the day of check in, but was 45 minute late. After the weekend we noticed that Cindy had not refunded our security deposit, although we had never received any notification to this effect. I called her to ask her about it, and she said that our family "probably didn't do everything on the check out list." I asked her for more specifics and she said she would call me back, but never did. Our family who stayed there were hardly there and when they left, they were careful to take the trash out and to do all that was required. We didn't pursue things further because the situation was upsetting and we wanted to put it in the past but beware: if you stay at the Abbey House Inn, make sure you get a copy of the contract and that you document your exit in case she tries to keep your security deposit. read more
