Nice little pool and also a coy pond.

My kind of lodging. A small motel from 100 years ago. Nicely maintained. Clean. Affordable. This hits what we look for dead center! Good air conditioning. Coming back home we came here again, skipping Expedia and ended up paying $12 more! I got a thank you from the owner thanking us for the nice review of our first stay and suggesting we book direct and get a better rate. Maybe because we walked in and announced that we were returning customers. Not helpful. Be sure to use Expedia. I am removing one star.

What a pleasant inn and a good nights sleep. We were tired of large hotels with inside rooms. All night long you hear SLAM from the doors closing all throughout the halls (you know what I mean). So , we opted for the 1960's style single level hotel with doors on the outside and parking close by. Judging from their Yelp review and several other review sites we knew we got a gem. Totally remodeled with all the amenities we needed including comfortable beds. The staff has been gracious and accommodating. There is also a bbq, pool, gym, playground and sport court. Skip the big motels in town and enjoy a peaceful nights sleep.

Lovely little motel. Very well kept building. Two reasons it is not 5 stars: used the fitness center. 3 machines, a medicine ball (but not enough room to do anything with it), water dispenser, but no water, and by far the most important flaw: the belt on the treadmill is slipping. I almost fell the couple of times that I did try to run. Not safe, at all. The other reason it's not 5 stars is the outdated timing mechanism in the bathroom. It's not a big deal, but when you're shaving your legs in the shower and the 10 minute timer runs out, it's not great. Plus, the timing knob in my room doesn't work properly, so it kept slipping and I had to tug at it, push it, pull it, just keep trying until it finally caught the timer and turned on. Otherwise, would have been a perfect stay. But seriously, a slipping treadmill is dangerous

My partner and I travel to northern Ca about twice a year, our usual stop from Los Angeles to mid-point is Redding. This year we decided to drive 13 hours to Gasquet but, with the bad weather we decided to leave a day early and stop when we got tired. Since it was less than a 12 hour stay, I suggested we get an affordable spot that serves breakfast and with a long shot possibly, a gym? All signs and reviews pointed to this location, Checking in was a breeze Manny was more than helpful showed us to our room, explained the continental breakfast etc.. I used the gym for as long as I could and I have to give them kudos for even considering having one. Its very small with 3 cardio machines, dumbbells and big medicine ball. The treadmill and elliptical needed some work. As for the room, it was meh- comfortable and clean but we were right on the road. I am a light sleeper and I woke up every time a truck or car w loud exhaust drove by it was that or the heater turning on. I would suggest asking for a room further in the back not in front of the road. Breakfast - Continental 6-9am grab and go. Kinda healthy, the raisin bran was hella stale but the rice crispies were good. I also like that they offered hard boiled eggs! Coffee was not very good. PET FRIENDLY - Designated rooms so please call ahead and let them know when you are coming $20 per pet, per night

#119 room, Queen, entry faces public street, bed faces entry

TLDR: reasonable accommodations, remodeled from older "bones," friendly front desk. Well lit parking and courtyard area, and felt safe overall. Included parking spots near the room. Breakfast is very basic. Comfortable bed. Loud A/C fan unit. Perfectly okay. Nitpicky commentary: Two rooms' entrances face the public street (119 and 120, I believe). Minimal sound dampening means guests will hear each car and truck driving by. Get a room facing the courtyard. Towels are clean but thin and well traveled. Stale, humid air upon entry. The last guest left a frozen lasagna in the freezer, suggesting housekeeping doesn't check all areas of the room. Carpets leave much to be desired (especially as a pet-friendly hotel, but it didn't smell like a dog). Soaps are sufficient, but just okay. Continental breakfast is appreciated, basic but offered in a tiny foyer that shares space with the front office/check in space with little natural flow for more than one guest at a time. Basic continental items (small pastries didn't look appetizing, hard boiled eggs, two cereals, coffee, and juice). Coffee packets in the room are vile, the breakfast coffee was better. Less than $100/night was more than fair for a locally owned, private hotel, but nothing blew me away. Perfectly okay.

Nice little stopping point for the tired traveler. Our room was small but comfy and tidy. The front desk person was lovely. Honestly, no complaints here. The accommodations met our needs, the price point was reasonable, and we would stay here again.

VERY friendly clerk helped out on the phone getting our reservation and helped out during the check-in and check-out process. The rooms are a tad small but very clean, the bathroom mirror was too high for me ( doesn't help I'm short) but there was a side mirror used for shaving that came in handy. We had our pet with us (extra fee) and she was very accommodating. There is a small pet area. Laundry accomodations were available as well.

I booked room on Separate 23,2023. They have cockroaches in their room. I will post cockroaches and videos.

Because of that history, I never expected to be treated this way. We experienced a genuine family emergency that forced us to leave early and requested a refund for our unused Sunday and Monday nights. These were weekday nights not a weekend or holiday, and the hotel kept 100% of the charges for both nights despite us not being there. What made the situation even worse was the amount of time we had to spend going back and forth during an already stressful family emergency. The front desk staff repeatedly told us they understood and agreed a refund was appropriate, but the owner instructed them not to issue one. For several days, staff members seemed confused about the situation, while the owner/manager refused to respond to phone calls or text messages. We were left waiting, following up repeatedly, and receiving no direct communication from the person making the decision. I understand businesses have cancellation policies, but there should also be room for compassion and reasonable discretion, especially for LOYAL, repeat guests who have spent thousands of dollars over the years and have personally referred many others to stay here. Unfortunately, this experience erased years of goodwill. Customer service is tested when something unexpected happens, and this hotel failed that test. We will NEVER stay here again, and after this experience, I can no longer recommend it to friends, family, or clients. What a HUGE disappointment Cottage Grove. Not the way you treat your loyal customers.

Unfortunately, the advertised "air conditioning" consisted of poorly functioning wall units and our group of four were forced to leave the property in the middle of the night when the power went out (apparently a common occurrence) and the temperature in our room climbed from 90 degrees (with AC and fans on!) to +100. We were originally a party of six and the two that made it through the night reported that the power and water were out through the entire stay. We expected an apology (and maybe a refund) from the Innkeeper, but instead received a torrent of personal attacks, defensive denials, and failure to take responsibility. I'll let the email exchange speak for itself in the screenshots to demonstrate how poorly she handled the situation. (And to save her the time of refuting this review as she did all the others with false claims that there was no record of the guest or they don't have a cobweb, cat, or cleanliness problem, because oh yes, they sure do!) Extreme heat and questionable cleanliness may be tolerable for some guests at this price point, but the Innkeeper's reaction is reason alone to avoid Rumsey House at all costs. Pay attention to the one star reviews.

There was no proprietor on site, but the emailed instructions we received before our visit were clear and helpful. Inside, there is an inviting sitting area downstairs with a nice selection of books. The kitchen is well equipped with a bit of options for a help yourself breakfast and snacks. Our room was clean, quaint and had a nice charm to it. Though the ceiling in the bathroom was angled, and yes I clearly saw that, I still must have smacked my head in it (lightly) more than a couple of times. For breakfast, we helped ourselves to hard boiled egg, English muffin, coffee and biscotti. Nobody else was downstairs when we were having breakfast, so ours a nice quiet time. We enjoyed looking at the photos of the property downstairs that depicted its restoration from the former state of the building. The property is within easy walking distance to the little downtown - literally, one block walk and you are there. A nice, clean and well-priced lodging option in a very enjoyable California small town. Highly recommended.

I wish Yelp would let owners create a new page when ownership changes. That being said, I can't imagine a better experience than what we had at the Abbey House Inn. From the booking to the greeting on arrival, we knew we would be well taken care of. It's conveniently located a block and a half from "downtown" Winters and a short walk to The Buckhorn Grill for dinner and the Putah Creek Cafe for breakfast. We expected a certain level of funk for the age of the house and the reasonable price, but we were pleasantly surprised. The house was clean, well cared for and ridiculously stocked with everything from snacks, candy, toiletries for pretty much every need, and most importantly, a comfortable bed. We go to Winters ever year to meet family and staying at the Abbey House Inn is now going to be our annual tradition.

The room itself that we have which is in the cottage House is quaint and simple but really quite comfortable. everything is clean and they are just so attentive for anything you could possibly need or want. As we are not staying in the main house we get a continental style breakfast in the morning and again Mimi goes out of the way to provide freshly baked breads and muffins and fruit that she's picked from her trees and tomatoes that she's picked from her gardens And homemade jams again from the fruits of her garden and does everything possible to make you enjoy yourselves. We picked this hotel because it is dog friendly (two pets up to 30 lbs each for a non-refundable fee of $50 per pet, per stay) and within a reasonable distance of driving from Oregon for us to eventually head back home to LA County. And because this hotel is highly rated on Yelp (an overall rating of 4.9 stars with 19 reviews), I decided to take a chance and book a night's stay here. We arrived last Friday evening, around 7 pm. We checked in with an employee at the front desk named Michael. He was friendly and very welcoming. The room was very clean. I liked that there were charging pads on both of the dresser tables on either side of the bed and also one on the desk. I also liked that there was liquid hand soap by the sink (way better than the bar soap that dries out your hands) and also products in the bathtub/ shower (body wash, shampoo and conditioner). Our room also had a microwave and mini fridge (but no freezer in the mini fridge). Free breakfast was from 6:30- 9:30 am and is a continental breakfast (meaning it is a light breakfast with few offerings. The only protein available were eggs and dairy). Overall our stay was fine for one night but I wish that the hot water that was available on the night we arrived was hot. Michael did tell us when we checked in that there was coffee and hot water available behind the wall (which is where the dining area for breakfast is). After we unloaded our luggage and settled in for a short while, we decided to head back to the dining area for some hot water to make some tea. But the water wasn't hot and just barely warm. It also tasted like coffee so we decided to pass on the water. If you are passing through the area and looking for a no fuss, affordable stay that is clean, then staying at this Sparks by Hilton would work.
