Recommend they invest in at least 4 comfort type commuter bikes that are user friendly and comfortable since Davis has so many nice bike paths . Actually, the hotel in general (except the door into the room) was really quiet, unlike many hotels in downtown which are next to the train tracks. They serve breakfast in the morning which is great. The bed was comfortable, and I like how there was a couch and a nice desk to sit in. Plus, a fridge? Yes please! It's also on campus and a quick walk to the arboretum walk! One star off because the bathroom wasn't the cleanest - the walls could definitely use a wipe down. In addition, the doors make a really loud sound when closing unless you're super intentional about being quiet. I'd love to stay again the next time I visit!

I am writing this review as a warning to anyone, especially medical or university travelers,…read moreconsidering a stay at the Hyatt Place UC Davis. If you value safety, booking stability, or basic human empathy, do not stay here. After the hotel's previous, compassionate team left, the property took a catastrophic turn under the new General Manager, Yon. I was subjected to blatant discrimination as a long-term guest. While other guests were permitted to stay even longer, my existing long-term reservation was arbitrarily canceled. The situation escalated from unprofessional to cruel. On the day my new reservation went into effect, the GM temporarily locked me out of my room in the afternoon. The GM threatened to raise my rates and kick me out of the hotel for no apparent reason. The only thing that prevented GM-Yon from doing so was the other staff witnessing the discussion. Because I had a sick pet, I made the new reservation as requested early that morning. I needed to stay close to UC Davis and receive skilled care at the hotel twice a day. However, the GM canceled the new reservation and changed my departure date, saying I was not welcome to extend my stay in this hotel. What makes this experience truly heartbreaking is the internal divide at the property: * The Staff Cared: Multiple hotel staff members recognized the injustice. They apologized, felt terrible about the incident, and actively tried to advocate for me to the GM. * The GM Did Not Care: Yon completely dismissed his own team's pleas. When I asked him to contact prior management who knew my history and stayed in context, he feigned complete ignorance and acted like he didn't know who those previous leaders were. The Medical Impact: Many people choose this hotel for its proximity to the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine facilities during high-stress, critical windows for their beloved pets. Still, this sudden afternoon lockout caused extreme stress, chaos, and displacement. The day I was forced to check out of the hotel- my dog had to be seen at the emergency hospital again and lost critical, timely access to a vet tech solely due to the hotel's actions. Corporate Neglect: When I escalated this to Hyatt Global Care, it was an uphill battle. They did not even log or submit my case until I called back multiple times. Shockingly, when I followed up to check on a resolution, I was informed the case had been closed with absolutely no phone call, response, or explanation sent to me. The General Manager at this property modifies and cancels reservations entirely on a whim. When we book during critical medical times for our pets, it's a matter of life and safety. This hotel cannot be trusted. Avoid it at all costs.

I guess I'm used to entrances to suites from the outside rather than down the halls indoors. We stayed for a weekend at this location for my niece's wedding in Winters. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with two queen beds along with a sofa bed in the living room and a fully equipped kitchenette. The suite was spacious and clean. It was like a little comfortable home away from home. I just wished there was another bathroom rather than everyone having to go through the bedroom to use. The staff were friendly and housekeeping requests were delivered quickly. We were always greeted in the lobby and through the halls. The kitchen staff was not so much as gleeful. There was one that had such a gloomy aura and made it like the job was such an inconvenience. Good thing her negativeness didn't outshine the whole experience here. Continental breakfast at a residence inn was another first for me. It was as good as it gets. The usual breakfast of eggs, sausages, and potatoes. They have bagels, muffins, toast, etc. There's cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, and fruit. And of course make your own waffles station. They even have vegan sausage and gluten free bagels. I wasn't too into the gluten free bagel tho. Everything else was good. It was a pleasant three day stay here and would come back if ever another event in the area.

I was worried when I first checked in, because I'd had bad experiences with other hotel chains' extended stay hotel/motels. These guys FAR exceeded my expectation. For example, I opened my door and my kitten ran out of the room. There were two housekeeping women nearby and both helped me corner him with their carts to get him to hide under one of them. I was very grateful to get him back so quickly! No bedbugs as another review stated, at least in 2024-25. I've no doubt they'll address it right away as long as it's got the same management. I don't know if they do, but everyone else seemed to like it for the same reasons I do! They also have a laundry room. The prices are about the same as any other laundry. Maybe a bit more, but you can't beat the convenience! In conclusion, food was VERY good (I ordered from the bar several times) bar was VERY good (nice selection, great service), housekeeping was GREAT, all the employees were GREAT, room was GREAT. I'd definitely stay there again with absolutely no hesitation.

So the positives, I got into Davis in the afternoon, went to the front office and checked in. The girl at the frontdesk was nice, pleasant, and helpful. She got me squared away with my key and directed me to my room. Another positive, you can't beat the location. The hotel is located off of D street and is great for walkability. There are tons of restaurants, cafes, and shops to walk to. The neighborhood seems safe, too. Parking was fine. There were plenty of spaces at the time I arrived, but towards the end of the day people start coming back, and the lot gets pretty full and a bit tight, so just beware. When I went to my room, I noticed a gap between the door and the actual floor, so that was a bit concerning. Once I entered into the room, it seemed fine. The bed was a king size bed, there was a desk, large TV, and the bathroom was updated, which was a nice feature. Because of the gap between the door and the floor, I wound up having to put a few hand towels between the floor and door, I'm paranoid about creepy crawlies coming into the room. I went to dinner that night, and came back to my room. As I was sitting on the bed, I saw a small spider. I understand things happen, but I'm not a fan of bugs, so I was kind of on high alert. Fast forward to my second full day here. I woke up in the morning to go to the bathroom and saw a ginormous cockroach on the floor. This was kind of it for me. This totally grossed me out. I'm assuming this wouldn't have happened if there was a gap between the door and the floor. If you're assigned room 104, I'd recommend getting a different room, as I'm pretty confident no bugs would have entered had there not been a gap there. There was water damage above the shower, that looked like it was patched. Also, the rug under the bed needed a good cleaning or maybe a replacement. FYI if you typically don't bring a hair dryer with you, you'll need to, as I didn't see one in the room. Will I stay here again if I'm in the area? Potentially, if they get the door situation fixed.
