The waiter staff is extremely rude! The staff has no manners. I left and will not return. read more

Southern Grill - Fried pork chops macaroni and cheese fried okra. Excellent! - Southern Near Me - York, South Carolina

Came here because it had decent stars. But I don't settle for "at least it was cooked the same day" call me crazy but I have higher expectations. The servers were fighting about shifts very loudly the whole 10 minutes we were there and we finally just left. After looking at the menu we decided we can eat better quality at Waffle House. $12.99 for hashbrowns and a slice of bacon is crazy . Nothing sounded appetizing besides the coffee. Won't be back here and definitely don't recommend read more

Decent food at great prices! Prices match the food. I'll be going back. Better than most restaurants like this in York! At least it's cooked the same day you pick it up. read more

They have the best wraps - you can get them for breakfast or lunch. Also, the BBQ is really good!

Great veggies. Best sweet potato casserole I have ever had. Good service too. Easy parking and always good people. Try their chicken tenders. Fried or grilled, they are good. read more

As you know we relocated to South Carolina and my goal right now while I am off from work for a while, is to get to know more about my local area, so weekly we set out for an area we have not previously explored to get a bit of local flavor and try the local eateries. Which leads me to this weeks find. If you're a local or regular this might be a good place for a meal, if you are just visiting the area expect poor service. My husband and I arrived around 11am on a Saturday, the place had customers, but not overflowing, we seated ourselves as instructed by the person at the counter. The table was noticeable dirty and no one came to wipe it down, so I did it with a napkin. It took a good 20 min before anyone came to inquire if we wanted a drink. After ordering coffee that was at best (Weak) we put in our orders, simple breakfast food, nothing fancy. Three other customers, 2 couples and one single gentleman (all apparently locals since the staff spent quite a bit of time conversing with them) came in after us, All of them were served before we got our food, even though they all were seated well after us. The food was lukewarm when it finally arrived and the "Waitress" totally left us without coffee refills and my husband finally got fed up and Whistled for her (I know rude, but at this point, effective). The food was ok (if not hot) and after the whistle we got coffee refills. The price was good, but for what you get (bad service, poor sanitation, lukewarm food) at least it didn't cost us much. So I doubt we will be in York again anytime soon or ever since this trip was a get to know the area kinda thing, but if we are, we certainly will avoid this place and you should too. read more

Food was surprisingly delicious and plentiful for the price! Had Country Style steak which was the best I've ever had!!! Blooming onion was also great and the gravy and mashed potatoes were homemade! Friendly and prompt service! read more

Great food . Good service. Prices are fair. Convenient location. I ordered the Gyro with french fries and onion rings. I would definitely be going back. read more

Not a bad option for lunch in the York area. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered the double cheese burger all the way which had chili, slaw, and onions on it with a side of fries. The burger was not bad though it did fall apart on me. The burger patties are thin and not seasoned much while the chili had decent flavor but not very meaty. The onions were rough chopped half circles and mostly fell of the burger. The slaw on the burger was good and more of a thick slaw which I prefer on a burger. As for the fries they were nothing special and had absolutely no salt on them. Overall not a bad place and under 10 for lunch in a friendly and clean place is a good find. read more

Has some yummy food and great service! Will eat here again for sure. Well worth eating here.

My daughter loves going to eat here we came across it by accident and just love going there. Good is good, people are nice and service is quick. read more

Never judge a book by its cover! We have driven past this place a million times, but today we dined. First plus, it's one of the few places open in York on a Sunday. They were accommodating, as I prefer egg whites and that was no problem. The ham was spectacular, I don't like country ham so cured it was. Hash brown were good! The biscuit was fresh and could tell was homemade. Mu husband loved his food, no complaints. The prices are great for the taste and amount of food. We haven't tried lunch but based on their menu size I promise you could find something you liked. We can't wait to go back. read more

Great food!! Love finding these gems. Our server was so helpful!! Real good ol' home cookin. Its like going to your grandmas house for dinner. Highly recommend and will definitely return.. Absolutely delicious!! read more

Brought the wife her for Sunday lunch. I got one of the daily specials - country style steak and it was delicious. Wife got veggie plate with speckled butter beans, deviled eggs, cucumber salad, and sweet potato casserole. Only disappointment was the cucumber salad which was basically Italian dressing over cucumbers and onions rather than oil and vinegar mix we are used to. As usual our drinks never even got close to being empty. Service is always fast, friendly, and food correct. This is my favorite home cooking place in the Charlotte area! read more

Do not be fooled by the outside! The service was great and the food was really good. I had the honey hot chicken sandwich with fries and the wife had the pimento cheeseburger. The chicken sandwich was 2 chicken tenders on a bun but the honey hot sauce was good. My wife said her burger and onion rings was really good. read more

Good restaurant, good food. Appears that the air conditioning is broken though. Melody the hostess was awesome! read more

Great spot. Very friendly staff and the fried chicken is amazing. The prices are also very reasonable and they have a wide selection, from fish to pork chops. Im somewhat of a fried chicken connoisseur and this place ticked all the right boxes. My wife had the grilled chicken and it was really good too. Will definitely be back read more

This was my first time trying this restaurant with my fiancé. We came based on the Yelp reviews and location since we were visiting close by. The outside is very simple. Nothing special. The inside was clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered the spicy honey chicken sandwich (don't recall technically the name), fries, and water. My fiancé got a regular fried chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were delicious and their ranch was great as well. Neither of us were impressed with our sandwiches. Mine was spicier than I had expected and not much of a honey taste. You might enjoy if you enjoy lots of spice. Not bad, but not great. Price was good for the food we got. read more

It's a hole in the wall, but that's not a bad thing. It's clean. Plenty on the menus to pick from. It's country cooking, and low prices. The service is good read more

While many in York love this place the 3 times I have been here it was terrible! My wife order the meatloaf swimming in grease. When asked what was up with it they said that is how we cook it. I ordered catfish. Tasted like old carp. Again that's how we cook it. We tried breakfast and again grease filled potatoes overcooked eggs no offer to recook our order. I'll give it 1 star because I can't give it 0 stars. read more

The food is not very good....I worked a few weeks there and was let go because the owner claimed to be told by several customers I was rude. Not the case, I've been in the business 30 yrs for a reason. read more

The worst food I've ever had. The toast was stale, obviously old. My dad ordered BBQ and it was absolutely disgusting. Fries were over cooked, hash browns it seemed like they didn't even try. Do not eat here. read more

I can't wait to come back to this place. I had the perch, cole slow, hush puppies, and a side of Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was amazing, and not the box stuff other places serve. My buddy had the fried chicken livers, fried okra, Mac and cheese, and banana pudding. Yes, he ate everything in his plate. (He's the size of a string bean) staff was awesome and the food is read more

We eat here a couple times a month. Food is always good along with service. I had fried chicken livers cucumber salad and mac and cheese which was great. I asked for livers well done. Wife had the taco salad which she also loved. Both meals and a to go slice of cake with 2 ice teas under $20.00 what deal. And cornbread read more

Service at this establishment has gone down hill. Lunch today took just about 15 minutes for the waitress to take my order. We were talking about leaving. I don't think that we will come back for a few months. The last time I was here there were 2 that walked out due to waitress failing to take their order. read more

Ordered breakfast 2 eggs bacon sausage and toast. First thing we noticed was that there was grease standing in the plate so we took napkins and soaked the grease up. Food should never come out of the kitchen with grease everywhere on the plate. Second the bacon was two pieces about 2 inches long third the toast was burnt on one side I mean completely black. Of course I didn't know this until I took a bite because they turned the burnt side toward the plate so I could not see it. So I got a good taste of burnt toast. Fourth I find it utterly ridiculous that a 20 year old calls me and my husband "baby" not once 11 times. Waitresses are doing a job I am not their baby. I know I am in the south but you could tell this was fake and I was actually insulted I hate that. I am not your baby. Since we are in the south what about words of respect like "Yes Sir". I guarantee your tip would have been better read more

Oh my gosh.. first visit and was really amazed.. friendly service ,great food and big portions.. will be going back ..

This place has amazing southern food and they aren't pricey either. The waitress was very attentive and made sure your drinks stayed full and that you weren't in need for anything. Great place. read more

Trust me, you aren't going here for the atmosphere.. you are going for the food. and lots of it. Daily specials, a list of meat options and huge variety of veggies. Then a regular menu of chicken sandwiches, salads, burgers, etc. So reasonably priced. And don't miss breakfast because it's just as good. Great mix of people, a popular local spot. Blue collar, white collar, retired, kids, etc. All are welcome! All leave with full tummies! read more

Average food and the service was terrible. Waited 20 minutes for a tea refill, that I'm still waiting for.

The fried chicken is delicious. That being said, it does not make up for the surprise on the bill after being nickeled-&-dimed, a new business practice at this restaurant. To-Go cup for the drink you ordered? $.50. Barbecue for barbecue chicken that comes with scarce amount of sauce? $.50 Skimpy little side salad that consists of bagged shred lettuce, a teaspoon of cheese, 3 bacon bits, and a slice of tomato? $1.50 more to substitute for one of your vegetables. For the most part, the food is good but it does not make up for the new business practices. read more

Sat night dinner. Great service. Food was very good. It's a Grill... not a restaurant so don't expect fancy. But do expect great country food and plenty of it. Fried pork chops and awesome beans and cornbread. Tasty southern food at a great price. Def coming back. Loved it! read more

Canned turnip greens with no seasoning. Fried squash soaked in grease. Mac and cheese was good. I got pickled beets and they were not pickled. Cabbage was seasoned well but hard. Canned corn. Instant potatoes and not the good kind either. Can't supplement anything have to pay extra. read more

Don't order salmon patties! NASTY!! The turnip greens came from a can and had no seasoning. The mac and cheese was good.
