Came here because it had decent stars. But I don't settle for "at least it was cooked the same day" call me crazy but I have higher expectations. The servers were fighting about shifts very loudly the whole 10 minutes we were there and we finally just left. Southern Grill has taken 60 percent of the items off the menu, and changed the recipe of many of the remaining dishes. I.E Mac and cheese is now mac and orange soup. Not good any longer. Save your money read more

As you know we relocated to South Carolina and my goal right now while I am off from work for a while, is to get to know more about my local area, so weekly we set out for an area we have not previously explored to get a bit of local flavor and try the local eateries. Which leads me to this weeks find. If you're a local or regular this might be a good place for a meal, if you are just visiting the area expect poor service. My husband and I arrived around 11am on a Saturday, the place had customers, but not overflowing, we seated ourselves as instructed by the person at the counter. The table was noticeable dirty and no one came to wipe it down, so I did it with a napkin. It took a good 20 min before anyone came to inquire if we wanted a drink. After ordering coffee that was at best (Weak) we put in our orders, simple breakfast food, nothing fancy. Three other customers, 2 couples and one single gentleman (all apparently locals since the staff spent quite a bit of time conversing with them) came in after us, All of them were served before we got our food, even though they all were seated well after us. The food was lukewarm when it finally arrived and the "Waitress" totally left us without coffee refills and my husband finally got fed up and Whistled for her (I know rude, but at this point, effective). The food was ok (if not hot) and after the whistle we got coffee refills. The price was good, but for what you get (bad service, poor sanitation, lukewarm food) at least it didn't cost us much. So I doubt we will be in York again anytime soon or ever since this trip was a get to know the area kinda thing, but if we are, we certainly will avoid this place and you should too. read more

Not a bad option for lunch in the York area. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered the double cheese burger all the way which had chili, slaw, and onions on it with a side of fries. The burger was not bad though it did fall apart on me. The burger patties are thin and not seasoned much while the chili had decent flavor but not very meaty. The onions were rough chopped half circles and mostly fell of the burger. The slaw on the burger was good and more of a thick slaw which I prefer on a burger. As for the fries they were nothing special and had absolutely no salt on them. Overall not a bad place and under 10 for lunch in a friendly and clean place is a good find. read more

Never judge a book by its cover! We have driven past this place a million times, but today we dined. First plus, it's one of the few places open in York on a Sunday. They were accommodating, as I prefer egg whites and that was no problem. The ham was spectacular, I don't like country ham so cured it was. Hash brown were good! The biscuit was fresh and could tell was homemade. Mu husband loved his food, no complaints. The prices are great for the taste and amount of food. Brought the wife her for Sunday lunch. I got one of the daily specials - country style steak and it was delicious. Wife got veggie plate with speckled butter beans, deviled eggs, cucumber salad, and sweet potato casserole. Only disappointment was the cucumber salad which was basically Italian dressing over cucumbers and onions rather than oil and vinegar mix we are used to. This was my first time trying this restaurant with my fiancé. We came based on the Yelp reviews and location since we were visiting close by. The outside is very simple. Nothing special. The inside was clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered the spicy honey chicken sandwich (don't recall technically the name), fries, and water. My fiancé got a regular fried chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were delicious and their ranch was great as well. Neither of us were impressed with our sandwiches. While many in York love this place the 3 times I have been here it was terrible! My wife order the meatloaf swimming in grease. When asked what was up with it they said that is how we cook it. I ordered catfish. Tasted like old carp. Again that's how we cook it. We tried breakfast and again grease filled potatoes overcooked eggs no offer to recook our order. Ordered breakfast 2 eggs bacon sausage and toast. First thing we noticed was that there was grease standing in the plate so we took napkins and soaked the grease up.
