I called Jim when someone accidentally destroyed my mailbox and I was, in total honesty, too lazy to go to replace the post myself in the middle of winter. Not only did he respond right away with a more than fair price but he had someone out the very next day to take care of the problem (I had ordered a new post that would be delivered that day). This is already a good review but it gets better. Now understand that I have always kept a handyman in my back pocket for jobs that were too big or too complicated for me (or I was too lazy to do) and Punch List did some things that the others never did, and I'm exceptionally happy. Dean was sent out and he is just the nicest and most professional guy, it's not who you envision when you think "handyman", you think of something, well, not him. Dean did a positively perfect job, he listened to my needs and accommodated them. When he was done there wasn't a trace that work had been done, he cleaned up every last spec of evidence, even hauling off the old post and the box the new one came in. This just doesn't happen with handymen! In fact, I looked out to see how things were progressing and I saw that he had some acetone out and was wiping down the whole post and box to make sure it was as pristine as could be. Do yourself a favor, just call these guys without hesitation. They are super nice, very professional and you can tell they take pride in what they do and those can be rare qualities these days. I…read moreonly had a small job I thought, replace a bathroom type ceiling exhaust fan that was in the laundry room of the house I had just recently bought. A malfunctioning exhaust fan is an odd problem to handle because electricians don't want to deal with duct work or anything they consider HVAC and HVAC people want to work on/replace furnaces or air conditioners not exhaust fans. Through Yelp I found and contacted Travis at Handyman Plus. He made an appointment and showed up right on time. The "broken" exhaust fan was not actually broken it turns out, nor was the switch which seemed to do nothing. It's a type of continuous running whole house exhaust fan unlike anything I had seen before. The wall switch which appeared like it might be broken wasn't it's just the way this fan operates. Travis got me all the information I needed to look up this fan and learn how to use it. A few weeks later I had a medicine cabinet I wanted installed in our master bathroom. As the wall area to be opened also housed the electric line to an outlet I asked Tarvis to do the installation. Again this was a small job, not the scale of work sought by many people in an up economy. Travis made an appointment, texted me when he was on his way and did an excellent job installing my cabinet; without hitting the power line or electrocuting himself. I'm really pleased with the work but more pleased overall with Travis of Handyman Plus. He is professional, thorough, capable and resourceful. I would not hesitate to call him for much larger jobs.

I hired Angelo to remove our popcorn ceilings and patch some drywall holes. First he said he was starting on March 3rd and that's what we had scheduled for start date. On that day he showed up and told me he actually wasn't starting and just needed a check for half so he could buy materials and then start the next day. The next day him and his wife showed up an hour late - they brought in a brand new tool that they clearly had never used before because they were taking it out of the box and reading the directions. They didn't cover anything (floors/furniture) and the ceiling stuff was getting everywhere. They only worked for about an hour and then they said they had to go get MORE materials... they then disappeared for 2 hours. Then they came back and covered some of the furniture but not the floors and started again - again the ceiling stuff was getting all over the floors. The machine was very loud and I had to take some work calls so I left the house for about 2 hours. I came back to check on them and they were gone. No call no text, nothing just gone and barely anything had been done to the ceiling and they left my house completely unlocked and never even told me they were leaving. I called him and he said 'oh yea sorry we need to come back Monday because we need more materials.' Sunday night I emailed him asking what time he would come Monday and also asked him to please cover all furniture and the floors. He responded saying he'd be there at 9:30am and that there was paint on the ceilings making it harder to remove (which we had discussed during the estimate when he came and looked at all the ceilings) and said he would cover everything. Then Monday morning comes around and he never shows up at 9:30am and I get an email from him saying he needs to charge me $1,000 more because the ceilings were painted. (if this was the case wouldn't he tell me on the very first day?? Also he came and checked al our ceilings for the bid!). I told him we'd like to just not move forward with the job anymore and I'd like my money back minus the work he did. Then him and his wife show up unannounced outside my house and sat in their car for 30min outside my house. Then he finally called and when we tried to discuss the issue his wife took the phone and started yelling at us saying she is going to charge us for all of these things and that it's our fault the ceilings were painted. (Again - which we discussed and he SAW during the estimate). I am now OUT the $1700 I paid them upfront and they BARELY touched the ceiling and left a mess! Read all reviews and check them out on YELP as well - I wish I would've before hiring.

I understand labor is expensive, but it seems like $100 an hour for 10 hours of work. The person who built the original gate spent an hour on it. Naturally I had to look elsewhere.
