I originally contacted Travis based on his reviews on Yelp. a source I have come to rely upon. I only had a small job I thought, replace a bathroom type ceiling exhaust fan that was in the laundry room of the house I had just recently bought. A malfunctioning exhaust fan is an odd problem to handle because electricians don't want to deal with duct work or anything they consider HVAC and HVAC people want to work on/replace furnaces or air conditioners not exhaust fans. Through Yelp I found and contacted Travis at Handyman Plus. He made an appointment and showed up right on time. The "broken" exhaust fan was not actually broken it turns out, nor was the switch which seemed to do nothing. It's a type of continuous running whole house exhaust fan unlike anything I had seen before. The wall switch which appeared like it might be broken wasn't it's just the way this fan operates. Travis got me all the information I needed to look up this fan and learn how to use it. A few weeks later I had a medicine cabinet I wanted installed in our master bathroom. As the wall area to be opened also housed the electric line to an outlet I asked Tarvis to do the installation. Again this was a small job, not the scale of work sought by many people in an up economy. Travis made an appointment, texted me when he was on his way and did an excellent job installing my cabinet; without hitting the power line or electrocuting himself. I'm really pleased with the work but more pleased overall with Travis of Handyman Plus. He is professional, thorough, capable and resourceful. I would not hesitate to call him for much larger jobs. read more

The vent-less fireplace did not work in the house I moved into. The job required removing the vent-less fireplace and installing a chimney from the basement up to the living room, into the garage, and through the room above the garage. This job would discourage anyone, but it came out perfectly. The building inspector said it was an excellent install. Travis was responsible for the chimney rough-in, building an enclosed bench to hide the chimney in the living room and all finishing work relating to make this job work. He was amazing. Everyone who has seen it cannot believe the complexity of the job and the finished work. I truly recommend Travis for any home repair or remodeling services. He is to be commended. read more

Travis with Handyman Plus did a great job on our kitchen remodel. He is easy to work with and can do it all--demo, drywall, electrical, plumbing, carpentry. He was great with trouble-shooting and odds and ends, like relocating a heater vent in the floor, mounting a new range hood, etc. A big plus is that Travis is a trained electrician, so he was able to install recessed lighting and relocate electrical outlets safely and easily, and saved us a lot of money by not having to contract a separate electrician. He would have installed our cabinets and tile, too, if we hadn't already contracted for those jobs. I found he was most responsive to texts and phone calls, not so much by email. He worked with my schedule and that of other contractors. As a woman, I have had many negative experiences with condescending tradesmen who treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about, or even what I wanted. Travis was a breath of fresh air. He was respectful, listened to my ideas and concerns, talked through solutions, and was very positive about my vision for the space. Travis did great work at a reasonable price, and I'll be calling him for my future handyman needs. read more

Flatirons quoted us $1300. I paid less than $50 for a new flange, pvc pieces, some putty, etc. and installed it in less than an hour. I don't know how they can justify their pricing. They were prompt and professional, but do yourself a favor and line up a couple different quotes because this one was offensive.

While he was here my sewer was backing up when he tried to drain the water heater. He asked that we get it cleared before he finished the job. We called Homeservice plumbers and they came out, said there was a block and they would have to tear up the basement and the starting price was almost 7k. More if they found other problems and they repeatedly tried to use, used car sales tactics and scare tactics to get me to replace Joe as my plumber and destroy the basement to clear a "block". Joe recommended Colorado Sewer Service and they came out and cleared the "block" in 10 minutes for 1/50th of what they were going to charge to tear up the basement and install a new unnecessary pipe just to begin with, which I am sure they would have tried to turn into a 20k plus job. Joe did a fast and excellent job and is just a good human being. I cannot say enough good things about this man and his business. Without a doubt I will use him for every job I need in the future.
