Steve came and gave us multiple estimates for projects around the house. We hired them to sand and stain our deck. The quote was reasonable and Eric came and did a very thorough job. He estimated two days and he was right on with timing. Our deck is over 30 years old and he did a great job sanding and staining the deck. It looks new and refreshed. I hired these guys to do a few small projects at the older house I bought and moved into. I really was just looking for people who had the tools and know-how to do these things and make them look good. They got maybe half of that right, and most of the work was just "fine" in the end. First off, someone came by and did an appreciably detailed job finding out what work I wanted done, taking pictures, and giving me a quote. But when the worker showed up to do the job, he seemed to not really know what I wanted done, with none of the materials, then disappeared for hours with no updates, going to different Home Depots to get everything he needed. He ended up really rushing the work to finish by the end of the day. Project 1: installing a new fence gate post which had come out of the ground. The new post was secured properly, but he didn't actually make it so the gate latched, because who would want that, right? It wasn't too hard to fix that myself, but not a great start. Project 2: installing a new exterior crawl space door. Initially he installed it so that it only opened a few inches before getting stuck on the patio bricks. I had to clarify that, uh, yes, I do want to be able to open this door all the way, so he redid it. Project 3: expending a too-tiny attic hatch so that a normal sized person could actually get through it. This was the last thing he did during the day, and it was rushed and came out very shoddy. It ended up being just a piece of unfinished plywood, held in place by a hinge and magnets. And the magnets were so weak that the new hatch kept falling open on its own. I had to get him to come back another day to install some trim to make it look nice, and some extra magnets for it to actually stay shut. (Of course, they charged me for this second trip.) All of these were kind of shoddy, but I wasn't going to complain until the long-term results of Project 4: installing hand rails on the steps to my basement. I was actually happy with the results of this one... until less than a year later, when one of the hand rails pulled out of the wall. It turns out the worker secured them to the wall using only drywall anchors (pictured). I don't care what the box says, these things aren't even good enough to hold a TV on the wall, much less support the weight of a person. And none of the people who live here weigh over 160lbs, so a heavier person probably would've taken it down much faster. This is both poor workmanship and dangerous. Maybe you'll get lucky, and whatever worker they send to do your job will be more competent. But I won't risk using them for future jobs if this is the kind of work they do. read more

Needed a few items hung in the house (pictures, coat hooks, mud room organizer, etc) and contacted them. Although they were quick to respond on yelp the first time, you need to follow up with them if they don't write back. Handyman came on time, had necessary tools, and finished the job within 2 hours. I easily then paid the invoice through email. I'll use them again definitely but the price per hour may be a bit steep for some. I'm truly amazed at the good reviews this company has. I thought this would be a simple project for a professional (torn siding), but instead I've paid over $100 for someone to come out, remove the siding from my house, and cover the hole with a plastic bag and duct tape. 6 weeks after this, I texted the person who came out and they said they had no idea as to the status of my project and to contact the office. I emailed the office and they made some excuse about only being able to find siding in 100 foot increments. I let them know that I'd prefer another option, something close but not perfect would be fine, and they just reiterated the same thing about 100 foot increments. Terrible communication, incredibly lax timelines, no professionalism. The only functional part of this business is their invoicing system - they're sure happy to take your money! read more

Edit: Following my review here, DHS and their subcontractor completed the work that I had requested. It does not erase the 5 months of jumping through hoops, or being ignored after the first couple of months by the primary contractor, so I cannot in good conscience give anything more than 3-stars. But I do appreciate the work finally being completed. Used this service back in 2017, and they did good. Fast forward to 2022, and I have no clue what changed. All we wanted was to have a radon pipe painted in order to meet Metro District regs (but did not want to climb 30 feet into the air without experience or tools to keep us safe). Contacted Denver's Handyman Services, and they said, "No problem!" Took our money, and sent the job out to a subcontractor. We accept that work like this sometimes needs to be subcontracted. What we do not accept is: A) Having the subcontractor show up on 4 different occasions, and never have the actual work done. B) Have the subcontractor tell us they are on their way, then never show up, and never call to cancel. C) Have the subcontractor finish half the work, then just leave, leaving the gate open (cardio is great, but chasing your dog through the neighborhood is never fun) D) Have the primary contractor communicate with us until it became inconvenient, then just ignore future emails and calls/messages. E) Refuse refund of at least half of the FULL payment, due to all of the above, after literal months of back and forth. We are the first to give good reviews for good work. And even poor work is normally just ignored as a fluke, and not enough to warrant a review. But the number of hoops we jumped through for this work, the money lost due to being ignored, the lack of professionalism overall, and the actual work paid for never being done, we felt, warranted this review. read more

They did work for me in the past. It was barely adequate, but one gets desperate. It's deteriorated further. Most of the list we gave him was done in a half-assed fashion. Cabinets that were to be fixed, were simply rigged and have since reverted back to not securing shut. Paint is so thin you can see thru it. I bought top quality, hoping to save time. Tape was left on the ceiling. We at no point rushed him. But it was a bad show for him to leave on the first day early afternoon. That was as soon as I walked out the door. The other days he worked, it was one hour lunches. We could not help wondering what the heck someone could do for a full hour, when they were working less than 7 hour days. I want people to be successful, but after I got to thinking about it, this is a scam if they don't do their job. It's just as easy to do good work with dedication. Clearly Jeremy didn't give a damn. I've been a Yelp lurker for years.  Using the reviews, but never getting around to actually writing my own.  So when I come across a service that makes me FINALLY take the time to write a review, it's gotta be either really good or really bad.  Fortunately, in the case of Denver Handyman Services, it is the former. Sure, I had seen all the do it yourself shows on TV and figured how hard could it be to change out a noisy bathroom fan?  I found out its easier to rip stuff apart then it is to replace it and make it look pretty.  Add to the fact that I suddenly was on an unexpected timeline to get the job complete and I started to worry. I found Denver Handyman Services on Yelp and explained my story.  From the start, Matt was very friendly and easy to work with.  Even on short notice, he was able to fit me in within a week.  Communication was excellent and once completed, I will say the work was excellent as well. Done quickly, cleanly, on time and a reasonable price.  What else can you ask for? I thought I knew what bad customer service was and then I decided to have this company remodel my rental unit. Worst decision ever! My project was delayed several times because of their incompetence. They sub out all their work. They upcharge on materials just because they are the ones purchasing them and delivering them to your house - seriously? Just pass the charges along. I had to check their subcontractors work (as opposed to their project manager) and it was not the best, and had to tell them 3 and 4 times to return to fix things that were not done properly. They blamed their poor floor installation on the product when it was clearly the installer being too rough, and in too much of a hurry while installing the product. I had to get another company to fix their shoddy work. After spending 5 figures with this company I feel that I got ripped off and I will never use this company and will encourage others to never use them. Save yourself the hassle, frustration and financial difficulties that this company could put you in. Do not use Denver Hnadyman Services. Worst communication and customer service I ever experienced. We had a slow leak in our finished basement that lead to us needing a set of French doors re-hung in a new door jamb. The old door jamb was soggy and got trashed, but the framing around it was fine once everything dried. I sent Denver's Handyman Services some photos and told them what needed to be done. Our house is in Broomfield, and I mentioned that in my initial e-mail, which Matt responded to. Eventually Jen contacted me to schedule, and she informed me that Bromfield is not in their service area, but they can still help me for an additional $45 trip charge. Even though their web site states they service the "entire Denver metro area," apparently only the "close metro area" (whatever that is) gets service without an extra fee. I was annoyed, but I agreed to it. On the service date, James came out. He was a bit late because he didn't see I lived in Broomfield until that morning. I showed him what I needed done, and he looked confused; he said that they told him he just needed to re-hang the doors, and didn't know anything about needing to build a new door jamb. So, he went to Home Depot to get the stuff he needed to do the job. When he came back, he told me they only scheduled him for three hours, and there was no way he'd be finished before he needed to go to his next appointment. He asked if he could come back that night, to which I agreed. He did come back later that evening, a bit later than he had said, but not bad. Unfortunately, he didn't foresee something in the door jamb construction and he said he'd need to come back on the weekend to finish up. That weekend, James did come back out. He did have to change the time he was coming by again, but he did finish the work, and the doors are back up. They're level, plumb, and basically exactly where they used to be. So in summary, I am very pleased with James's work. I am annoyed that the company decided I needed to pay a trip fee. I am even less pleased that they apparently did not take the time to figure out what I actually needed done to schedule an appropriate amount of time for James to do the work. I would potentially use them again, but I would make sure that the scope of work is clearly understood. read more

We had a huge project and Luke and Matt were in and out of our house for almost 6 weeks. They took a empty furnace room and turned in into a beautiful bathroom. We had a really good taste of what working with Denver Handyman Services is actually like. Allow me to leave you with seven of their best attributes. 1. Matt is from New Zealand so every conversation is a fun one. You will prefer talking to him on the phone over e-mail just because of this. "I am running out to get something from Ace mate." You forget about how much money you're spending and just pretend you're in a movie or something. 2. They are not annoying to be around. We got a few quotes and honestly with a couple of the guys I could not imagine them being in my house for a month. Many were not busy enough to value your time and just wanted to chat and chat and chat. Matt and co. are pretty straight to the point. Small talk is efficient. 3. Matt said on several occasions that "anything is possible." I'm very particular esthetically and picked the most odd and difficult fixtures to work with. They were always gracious despite that having to be annoying. 4. They're really talented. Back to that "anything is possible." It's possible because these guys know their stuff. 5. Communication is on point. Like the home renovation TV shows, we were behind on the project and it went a little later than we expected. However, someone was always calling or e-mailing to make sure we knew what was going on. We always knew when someone was arriving, how long they'd be here and what to expect for the next day. 6. They are affordable. I got quotes that were much higher. It's not cheep, as it shouldn't be but I didn't feel like I'd rather spend a year on you-tube learning how to do it myself. 7. It was pretty clear that these are good people. You will tell them where you key is hidden and not worry about re-hiding it after they are done. We have a fireplace that we wanted tiled and the detail work is very important. Denver's Handyman Services was by far the most prompt and professional in contacting us. We received a thorough quote and had the work scheduled in just a few days. Brian was in good communication with me prior to arriving at our home. He asked questions to make sure he was prepared to start the first phase of the work upon arrival. He walked me through the steps, timeline, and made sure he fully understood the vision we were looking for. His communication was such a breath of fresh air, considering we were coming off a project where the contractor and workers were always late, never communicated, and frankly were very frustrating. Brian's attention to detail and execution of the tile work was incredible, especially considering how the fireplace looked when we started. He also helped troubleshoot the trim work to complete the tile, making sure we had a finished product that looks amazing! Note: I wanted to paint the trim myself and am also personally refinishing the hearth in front of the fireplace. I'm sure they would have done that for me had I asked though. When our 19th century Victorian house was on the market, we had a few projects that needed to be taken care of. My husband and I aren't particularly handy and we didn't have time to try to DIY the projects ourselves, so we reached out to Matt at Denver's Handyman Services. Matt was very responsive. He was able to come to our home to give us an estimate for trimming and re-hanging interior doors with new hardware on the same day that I called him. We were able to book the work that same week. If you're in the process of searching for a handyman or contractor, you know that this sort of responsiveness is very rare. Matt worked around our schedule of open houses and cleaned up after himself, which was very much appreciated since we had house showings. We had a couple questions about other things in our home, such as windows and a bath faucet, that he was able to answer and give us information on. It's obvious that he has a lot of experience and can tackle all sorts of house projects. If we had planned to stay in the house and in Denver, I'm sure we would have called upon Denver Handyman Services again. read more

I used Denver Handyman for the first time this week and had a great experience! Our guy came over on time and quickly evaluated the work we needed done, then got to work. During three hours, we had a screen door and window fixed, a very rickety bed frame repaired, a sliding closet door fixed and even our lawn strimmer was repaired. This 3 hour window also included the trip that was taken to Home Depot to buy supplies, which I really appreciate because I prefer not to buy the supplies in fear that I would purchase the wrong things. Our guy was very friendly and took time to walk through all the work that he did at the end. I think the price for the work is very fair, especially since it saves me a ton of time versus trying to fix everything on our own (which would have probably taken me a whole weekend).
