Great food every time we have gone. Never had a bad meal. Reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is that the dining area isn't great. Feels cheep and is really loud if the kitchen staff has their music on as well as the dining area music. They usually play a different radio station on both which is even worse. Second visit to this restaurant (first experience good food and service) the person I spoke with today (16 May) could not locate my order. He stated that my order did not show up on their system. He was a bit condescending to me questioning if i went to the correct web site and explaining how i need to "click" on thr order online button to begin. I asked if I could place my order with him now but he stated no they were too busy to take walk-n orders and instructed me to order items online again, not very helpful advice to me. This is the second time I have been here. They are always short staffed. It took around 20 mins for them to just seat us because there was just one waitstaff/hostess/phone order taker/register both times. Finally when we got seated both tables on our side still had dishes laying there. I got drunken noodles the first time and it was okay. Just an average american thai place. I've heard some food items are good buy I might try them at one point. I just don't have 2 hours to spare everytime I come for food here. Do not go here if you are hungry and want food right away. Be prepared to wait a good 45 mins even before you ge your appetizers. The people who work here are actually doing their best , it seems like it's the owners who keep it like it is. This used to be my favorite restaurant to order from. The owner is extremely rude. I mean like a complete d!ck. I ordered soup and it was packaged with a side of rice on top of it and tied too tightly. The side of rice broke through the top of the soup container and the broth got all over my car. Accidents happen, but when I called to ask for a refund for the soup (not the whole order even though it got on everything else) since 1/3 of the soup had been spilled the owner got extremely confrontation and told me that "he has been in this business a long time" and "that he knows how to package food" and that "I was wrong." Fun fact: I've also been in the restaurant industry a long time. I don't believe that the customer is always right, but I do believe the owner of an establishment shouldn't be an arrogant a$$hole who yells at their customers who've accumulatively spent hundreds of dollars at their business. Wonderful for take-out. We love the Thursday night chef - he's the best for pad thai though I wish it wasn't served in styrofoam. I also think that their red curry sauce is some of the best I've had (many Thai restaurants in LA & SF) though I wish there was more of the meat & vegetable goodies. Great flavor! Southeast kitchen may be of the best fast casual/asian cuisine diners in Wilmington. In fact, in comparison to the few sit down/take-out spots in the area with it has to be the winner. The menu is is challenging and different than in the restaurant than what you will find online, but the courteous staff will walk you through it. Hard to get in at lunchtime but if you have the time, it's well worth the wait. If you like Thai, give them a try. SEK recently became a BYOB if you need libations, come prepared. Unfortunately, my first experience here wasn't the best. I had the pad Thai - it was very dry, little flavor and the shrimp was overcooked. It also had chunks of tofu in it. I tried the spring roles with pork and got through one bite and that was enough. I didn't realize the spring roles would be made of rice paper and they were very rubbery. I've been going here for awhile and order in bulk over 100 bucks each time for hospital employees. I'm happy with the food in general however I'm tired of their poor customer service. If you charge 4.50 for an iced tea I expect you to give me a full cup not 80 percent full, wither they stuff the cup with ice and give you 60 percent tea so in asked for no ice and got 80 percent full. When customers are loyal and come to your restaurant don't try to rip them off by shaving off on something as simple as an iced tea. This place is defintely a must-try! Just had a phenomenal experience. I started off with the Vietnamese coffee which was a home run. It's in plastic drink cups in the refrigerator. The chicken basil was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat, sweetness, and had a wonderful flavor profile. The grilled pork banh mi was simply perfect. The bread was perfect, the pork was perfectly grilled, the seasoning was perfect, the vegetables were...that's right...perfect. I ended my trifecta with shrimp lettuce wraps that were beautiful to the eye, light, and once again, perfectly layered with flavor. Seating is limited to 3 tables. Everyone at Southeast Kitchen was extremely nice, helpful, and directed me to some great dishes. I think I'm going back for dinner again later today. It's THAT good! Go now! Really....now! read more
